Woooo!! I helped someone :D haha.
I think the funniest thing about this upcoming race is that I could be 5 seconds quicker than everyone and completely dominate the race and still not win the Championship!

Obviously I will still try my best as I will need to win and get the fastest lap and so far I have pulled out a 1:15.4xx as my best, which I was amazed at!
My best outlap was a 1:12.5xx and I am consistently getting around low 1:17s, high 1:16s when I get a reasonable lap in.
However, I still need to improve on my consistency, in a 10 lap race, I spin about 3 times, with at least 1-2 penalties.
I also need to find a consistent line and braking zones so that I can put in good laps consistently and then pull out a fast lap when I need it.

EDIT: Btw Shaggy, how old are you? Just out of interest.

I'm 22 mate.

I'm round about your speed at the moment, got a low 1:11.x I think as an outlap but my fastest regular lap has been a 1:15.9 without draft, think I did a 1:15.7 with draft. Still aiming for mid to high 1:16's as race pace at this stage of the week, but it's very hard to be consistent at this track, especially in the rain. It's fun though, try racing against the computer on hard difficulty and witness all the spray, it's very exciting.

22!
It's possible that I may even be the youngest in the Championship. I'm only 16! lol.
I'm assuming you drive as well, which would give you an advantage with the manual control as well.
And with you getting similar times to me, looks like I will need to practice harder. If only it wasn't for school :( lol. Ah well, only 39 days left for me :D.

THE GLITCH - I don't know of a game that doesn't have one.

RACING - If they pave it, it is meant for one of two reasons. 1: to run off. 2: to race on.

THE GLITCH AND RACING - the glitch is that there are no "marbles" or "clag" out there. Believe me if that was the clean line all the racers would be using it unless deemed "out of bounds"

OUTLAWING IT - There is no true way to police it and be fair to everybody while trying to judge wheather what you think you are seeing is what the driver is doing or is it the gaming lag that makes it look like it is doing something it shouldn't. I know I have seen cars shortcut curbs and not get a penalty as well as cars that look like they should be in D1 the way they go though the corners and the smoke they leave in your face, not to mention wheelies and driving six feet off the track. There had to be some MAJOR glitches in this game to begin with as I see unreal lap records on every track, some 25-30 seconds faster.

INTERLAGOS - it's the last race. the servers will be shut down in a month which is probably 6 months before the new F1 09 will be released - now that's something to 🤬 mad about.

THE CHAMPIONSHIP - to finish first, first you must finish. or should I say to become a champion first, first you must finish the championship. The championship I won I never led the points till we finished the last race of the season. I won by 2 points. you can always second guess where you lost it but if you don't race all at, that's where you'll lose it.

OK - I'll step off my soap box now :P

So there will be blood in São Paulo this weekend.

I hope I could get close enough to see the punches :D

Blood and rain:sly:(can't imagine water feels good in a open wound). And if your lucky enough, you might be able to do more then just see them ;)

Hmm, being able to drive IRL has helped me in no way. Firstly, my Corsa doesn't have a flappy paddle gear shifter obviously, and trust me, you wouldn't want to use left foot braking on public roads or you could cause a major accident

The first time I tried with the steering wheel, I wouldn't even say it slowed my lap times by 2-3 secs, it was just plain undrivable and felt so weird and strangely disconnected compared to what I was used to. My lap times would vary by about 10-15 secs from lap to lap. Eventually I began to understand the behavior of the wheel and what to expect from my imputs, and it stopped feeling like I was steering a massive 200mph oil tanker with one of those old fashioned wooden wheels that spin about 5000 degrees. Once I got my head round it and coordinating between my feet and arms, I began to see the potential of the wheel. I would set slower laps than before but notice that I could take certain corners quicker, it became just a matter of bringing my bad corners up to the standard that I was doing them on the Sixaxis before.

Seriously Zeroduck, how are you that fast? My 1st outlap was a 1:12.5, and you're able to do it on a regular lap, which is about 4 seconds slower? How in God's name are you that fast? That's probably even faster than fishfash would be with the wheel at one of his best tracks.

Did a 17 lap practice session and my fastest was a 1:16.2, most laps were 1:17's............GULP.

If I pushed like a mad man then a late 1:12 is possible otherwise a high 1:13 for me. Duck is always fast in the rain :)

You know what, I think I really needed that. Here I am making this out to be a big Mountain to climb when your the one with alot more work to do and I'm ready to say "screw it". Forget what I said earlier, I'm gonna show up at brazil and even if I lose, I'm gonna lose fighting for it. Thanks for telling me that, I'm just gonna devote all week to this now.

Now I feel loads better with all that aside

That's the spirit 👍

You have a son!! Woah, I had no idea you were that that age lol. I'm surprised.
Just a quick question, how long have you guys been playing F1 games? And how long have you been playing F1CE?

My goodness, I really need to step it up if Duck gets 1'12 in light rain while I'm getting 1'18:ill:

Fair enough Shaggy, but i still didn't realise how old some of you were. I guess this is what Vettel feels like

I'm beginning to think I'm youngest guy in the NTSC division at 20 while Duck, Mofo, Hemi and CAMi are all older then me. I wonder if Randy, Lofasz and Sump are also older.

I have been playing video games since the mid 70's :yuck:

The first F1 game I played was back in 1996 when Bizarre Creations released Formula 1 for the PS1. It really was a ground breaking achievement for a game to have so many cars on track at any given time.

It was based on the 1995 season with Schumi in the Benetton.

I had 2 PS1's with 2 copies of the game and 2 TV's and would set up a link cable between the 2 consoles so that each player was able to play the game on their own TV whilst competing against each other and 22/24 other AI drivers. It was almost like an online experience and that was 13 years ago

Oh and I have been playing F1CE since March 07.

I just can't stop playing video games, I have an addiction :nervous:

You should definitely get your son playing. It'd be like Keke and Nico Rosberg. i was going to say Piquet snr and Nelsinho but that would be ungenerous to the talents of your son.

LOL....

Yep I probably will, if there is another championship I may ask him to step in for me whilst I play team manager 👍

That's a long time Fishfash! I have been playing the F1 games since...I think 1999, when I got my first one (F1 99), then I got F1 2000, 2001 and then seemed to skip a load until I got F105.
I got F1CE in about February-March 2008.

And yes, definitly get you son playing as well, does he play very often and if so, who's pace would you compare his to?

Ah, unfortunately he doesn't play on the PS3, well that's because I won't let him :grumpy:

He has a PS2 / Xbox and a Wii, and occasionally plays F106 on the PS2. More into Super Smash Brothers Brawl / Mortal Kombat / Resident Evil etc.

Number one im a DUCK and DUCKS like RAIN , i also like this track very well its DOCTORBEN'S home track so we have spent more time there than any other track , all you got to do is pedal a little faster and say QUACK QUACK. Seriously though its a very good track 4 me. As for the glitch , it can gain you about a half second IF you hit it right but if you miss you are screwed because you will go for a long ride in the grass , so i say if you use it , you use it at your own risk . You cant controll what people say , i mean i could pick anyone and say they cheated by exploiting the glitch . So its the last race and i think we have more important things to worry about than trying to police that . Im going to run a quick practice i'll tell you if i get any faster. QUACK QUACK

I totally agree with Fastduck. The glitch is good, but it, like Fastduck said, if you get it wrong then you have messed up your lap, and instead of gaining half a second on your time, you will end up losing at least a second! Trust me!

This is certainly an interesting conversation. I've been playing video games since I was 5 years but didn't playing racing games until 1998 (ironically at the time I never heard of Racing yet. Is it Destiny?:scared:). F1CE is the first and only F1 game I've ever played (only one I heard of believe it or not before I discovered the other games that came out way before it).

As for my status at inter, I'm still not able to get 1'12's doing regular laps, but I'm beginning to think the only way I ever will is to use those outside corners you guys mentioned. Seems so dirty, but it may be the way for me to even be able to keep up with duck.

I think what helps me the most in the rain is the fact that i drive a real racecar so i can handle a slick track. I race on dirt and my motor has 605hp so in the summer when its hot , the dirt tracks get very very dry , its almost like racing on ice it gets so slick . Thats the only reason i think im that fast in the rain . Ok i went and did two 12lap races with no pits and the fastest i could get was a 1.14.199 so it looks like i slowed down a little bit today but im kinda in a hurry so that may have had something to do with it . QUACK QUACK

looool have fun with it , you have a better chance of having a huge mistake , you can hit the wall on the outside or you can cut the corner on the inside or you can totally screw up and go straight off the end where you definitely be singing the BLUES in the rain .

I think you might be because I'm 28.. the rest no idea. --- Randy

Some interesting developments for me. I was finally able to get close with 1'13.XXX but only on outlap while I was getting 1'16s using the little corner cut. Only problem I have is I still brake trying to avoid going into the grass, which is probably whats stopping me from going into the 1'13s regularly. Gonna go to my nascar League race now, but I'll be back with a practice room.

Kak my son is only just slightly younger than you :ill:

I think I will start to introduce him to the world of GTPlanet

My youngest is 21 but not near as fast as his old man :sly: at least at driving anyway  My daughter will be 24 May 2nd :)
They are both into their own games and I no longer can control what they play but we have some games in common.

Just a quick question, how long have you guys been playing F1 games? And how long have you been playing F1CE?

I've been playing video games since the early 70's and like fishfash, that's a long time but I did take a sabbatical in the late 80's for a few years. As far as F1 games there were two arcade games I played frequently in the 70's but I can't remember if they were F1 or Indy car. As far as F1CE I got the game late September of last year for the Bruce Mclaren Memorial Championship (http://pages.sssnet.com/jcowan/f1/main.shtml) and had never even heard of it before then.

Thanks for the compliment Duck but I'm 46 and both my kids are older than you RACECAR so respect your elders now
