For the 450 pp races we could say a family car is any sedan that isn't a special high performance variation (no wrx/sti/evo/SS/RS/TSI/Type-R/etc.? This would allow some of the big luxury barge mercedes, jaguar, volvo sedans, etc.

Great video...if you dont mind me asking...what is your front/rear toe settings. My 190 is awfully unstable leaving the corner, but this vid gives me hope.
Could some cars from the 60's have bench seats (and hold 6 people) :D

Sounds good. No performance variations...and if the car can seat 5 adults comfortably I'll allow it. This will include some of the 60's and 70's cars...although I do want to do a separate muscle car night, possibly tomorrow (tuesday).

Also, for those who missed the first link. I will be doing a different series on Wednesdays so someone else will have to host this room as I will be hosting this event...

Still time to sign up if you are interested.

I can fit 5 people into my Impreza...I don't usually consider their comfort though.

So the basic rule will be no compact sedans. Whats considered a performance variant though? I think most of the bigger cars in GT5 only come in the top model.

I just think the series needs to exclude compact sports variants. The larger sedans may be AMG models, but they will take a huge HP hit and weigh a ton to get into the 450pp bracket. The Evo/sti/wrx/etc. are

I brought up the bench seat in jest. I have no intention of spinning my wheels in a muscle car era ride when stable 4wd wagons are a possibility.

i think i will try the holden commodore at first at least. the honda oddyssey is another possibility but it's awd and I find awd to be generally slower unless its raining. there are a ton of wagons but they all are awd. :(

I understand it is tough to find certain cars in the UCD. If you can't find something suitable, run something close and if you win every race, we'll just ask you to change to something different.

Some examples as I go down my list of currently owned cars...
Honda Odyssey
Toyota Altezza
Mazda Atenza
Mazda6 5-door
Mazda MX-Crossport (aka CX-7)
Mitsubishi Airtrek Turbo-R
Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Nissan Stagea 25T RS FOUR
Volvo S60
Holden Commodore SS
Chrysler 300C
Jaguar XFR
Audi RS6
Nissan Skyline Sedan
Mercedes C 63 AMG

So basically, mid to full sized sedans, wagons, minivans, and compact suvs. No pickup trucks though...we run those on other nights.

I have some of those. But I was trying to stay away from the " R, GT, AMG," or anyting that was kind of the race spec model.

Im still looking for a cx-7 though.

The CX-7 is a concept...but i don't think it will be very competitive. I just bought the parts for the one I have.

The problem is that almost every car in the game is an R, GT, or AMG. Pick something you think that will be fun to drive and we'll see how the night goes. If there are some dead ringers, we'll ban them next time.

What is that?

Nic rides everything to victory. He knows how to pick cars and he knows how to drive them. Last night he was in some weird sedan though, wasn't very competitive but when he came up behind me at Trial Mountain we had quite a battle.

He was in the Galant Turbo last night. Its starting weight though is too high I think. I wasted 30 PP just lightening that car then painted in Subaru blue - WR Mica

No problem, I knew it was gonna happen so i went as wide as possible. I figured the only reason Booch and I caught up was because you had no tires left. I'm just amazed I kept it together and pulled off that 4-wheel drift into the corner. whew!

Yes, family car night. Station Wagons and Minivans. Car must have 4 doors and a hatch.

We can debate what qualifies as a family car. Personally, I would not lug children around in a Impreza WRX...but I do know there is a Legacy Wagon that could be used instead. Does the legacy have a 3rd row of seats? Maybe seating for 6-7 is the requirement.

I lug my wife and kid in my WRX ;)

Tonight is Muscle Car Night...

Restrictions:
500 performance points
1400kg minimum weight*
Sport Soft Tires (unless people lobby for comfort soft, grab both)

* I will cycle between the two restrictions before the start of the race. If you get removed from the track, it is because you are breaking one of the restrictions. Weight reduction is allowed, but you must remain above 1400kg.

Below are the allowed vehicles (correct me if I missed one):
Camaro SS '69 (1401kg)
Camaro Z28 '69 (1415kg)
Chevelle SS 454 '70 (1700kg)
Corvette Convertible (C3) '69 (1552kg)
Corvette Stingray L46 350 (C3) '69 (1490kg)
Challenger R/T '70 (1700kg)
Charger 440 R/T '70 (1650kg)
Charger Super Bee 426 Hemi '71 (1841)
Mustang Mach 1 '71 (1650kg)
Cougar XR-7 '67 (1480kg)
Cuda 440 Six Pack '71 (1576kg)
Superbird '70 (1755kg)
Tempest Le Mans GTO '64 (1420kg)

Cars that will NOT be allowed:
Corvette '60 (Art Morrison version is a modern-ized car)
Special '62 (everyone knows this car is quick)
Corvette Convertible (C1) '54 (too light)
Corvette Coupe (C2) '63 (too light)
1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer (i think this is a tuner car)
Cobra 427 '66 (way too light)
GT350R '65 (too light)

Is there a way to ad ballast to any of the NOT allowed rides to back them in?
I don't think I'll be joining tonight for more than a race. I only have 1 allowed car (I've lighted all my muscle) and I dont want to be stuck in the same car each night. I realize I could buy/make one, but I spent 500K on family night alone

Which one were you thinking about? Some of them, like the Cobra can't even get to 1400kg.

Bah, I raced you guys enough to pay for family night! Stop complaining!

I only have 14 million saved up :D

I more (or less) am concerned with my time, more valuable than in game cash. I can win $1 million every hour just racing Indy, but I can spend $1 million in 20 minutes buying 5 cars and modded them for the race. Then I have to spend 20+ minutes with each on two tracks, one technical and one road course. In the end, its better to just sit these out for me

I have less than a mil and you never race my cars, but I manage to field 4-5 fully tuned (300k+) per night!

I haven't ran a race just for credits in weeks and I've never rubber-banded indy. I have a full roster of b-spec drivers that other people on my friends list run for me (I never asked...I just figured i'd throw them out there and see what happens). I make 1/2 a mil every few days which is plenty enough to purchase 2 or 3 cars for a given theme (plus my meger winnings from running races nightly). You don't have to do anything for this. Just go to your driver list, select a driver and enable the "share" icon. Once you do that, anyone can use your driver in a race. Max out your driver list and people will grab several of them when they race their own drivers.

I don't spend hours tuning cars for these races either. The stock custom suspension with a little camber and some rollbar tweeks is all I do these days. I've stopped buying the LSD unless I really like the car. I tune during the 20 minutes before the first race.

I do get a little bummed when it turns out that a few cars are much faster than others so I think from now on the restrictions will be much tighter. But even then, you notice that Nic changed cars midway through last night and was still quick. We should all watch his replays to learn the tracks because if you ask me, he's consistently the fastest driver in the room.

I'm just trying to mix things up to keep people interested. There are always going to be 2 or 3 drivers out front with fast cars...but the real action is in the middle of the pack. Some of my favorite races have been well earned 6th or 7th place finishes...or when Grenade says "watch and learn huyler" and promptly goes into the sand trap.

BTW, do people like the slightly longer races? I was thinking it takes the pressure off the first lap and gives people a chance to fight back after a mistake or two. However on some tracks the pack spreads out quite a bit. I can drop back down to 3-5 lap races if you'd rather see more tracks on a given night. The one thing I don't want to do is spend too much time between tracks. I try to get 1-2 timed laps in and then wait for everyone else to enter.

I like the longer races, something like 10 or 12 laps. I think having a mandatory pit stop would be pretty good also, throw some strategy into the mix.
