I've been trying this with a BMW 1 Series Concept but no better than a bronze so far and still 1.5 secs off silver. Really had to harden the suspension buts it's still not right.

Looks like the Shelby makes it to easy.

I put in some work tonight with different cars. 5 cars, all 5 golds with 1 stand out nobody is talking about.

Chevrolet Camaro SS '10: First gold tonight. Took a little work to pull it off.
BMW M3 CSL: 1 lap gold, real nice car here.
BMW M5 '05: This big guy defies gravity and golds with little trouble.
Ferrari California: Took a few laps, kept hitting barriers. Not the car's fault lol.
Mazda RX7 Spirit R: This car may be a contender here to rival the Shelby. Corners so beautifully, and fast on straights.

Has anyone contemplated the Lotus Elise? That's awesome in the corners but don't think it has enough legs on the straight.

Only FR cars can play this time. I am sure the 111R would be quick here though. But if MR cars could play....

Tried the Shelby Series One last night for 20 or so laps with no improvement on my CSL 1:26 time.

Maybe it's me and this track? Loosing time in the "S" section.

Will try the S2000 and the Mazda Sprint R Type A (FD) '02 next. I seem quicker in a smaller lower power car for this track.

If you haven't, try the rally car TT too. Good fun combo with the wet track.

I only ran the Spirit for the initial lap. Not sure how fast it really is here yet. I run through golding every car I can at first. But it is at least as quick as CSL from quick impression.

The Spirit R is no where near close to beating the Series One. Even with a good tune. It just doesn't have the legs on the straight - 20mph slower at turn 1.

Maybe so lol. It did pull to 140 or so mph on the main for me though. Like I said 1 lap is all I ran. Just dropped weight, Slight power limited and a quick trans flip. Supension just camber and toe minimized.

Maybe 10 slower than Shelby. If it is clearing 160mph on main straight then wow lol.

Then you should remove the flat floor. :P

The RX-7 won't be able to beat the Shelby, but it's very competitive in this pp range.
Got a 1:24,486 yesterday which is good enough for P14 at the moment.

Assuming aftermarket wheels +2 inches larger.

RX8 Concept was quick. I almost had gold with it, then switched to Shelby just to get the gold the first night. It lacks the grip RX7 has though.

I've won three times gold so far, all in british cars:
TVR Tuscan Speed 6
TVR T350C
Jaguar XKR-S

Lap times were all higher than 1:29,0xx, so nothing special. But the sound of these cars is great!

The 600pp TT was to hard but this time the Ford SVT F-150 Lightning did the job. :D

Which car do you guys think feels the most "stable" on this track, as far as the cars that have top-250ish time potential in them?

So far, I've tried the following cars:

S2000 Euro ('03 I think): stock suspension, and just modified it to 480pp: didn't like it. False-stable where it would act okay for the first half of a curve, and then suddenly SNAP fishtail out of control. Yuck! Learned the course with this car, and didn't even get gold until like over an hour into the session. Really hated driving this car with a PASSION, if I haven't made that clear yet, lol.

S2000 Type V ('01 I think?): stock suspension, and just modified it to 480pp: felt a lot better than the Euro S2000, but still not too great. Same problems as the previous, in terms of sudden snap-fishtailing without warning, but just to a milder extent than the euro model.

Caterham: stock suspension, and just modified it to 480pp. Tried it two different ways of 480pp, one with max ballast, and the other with no ballast. It's speed on the straights was a total joke, like, the ghost car would just FLYYYYY away from me like it was going twice as fast as me, lol, on the main straight, but I could tell it was gaining a LOT of ground on the heavier s2000 ghost on all of the curves, especially the sharp/hairpin corners. Interesting choice, but probably just loses too much ground on all the high speed accel areas to be competitive for a really high ranking.

BMW CSL: stock suspension, and just modified it to 480pp. Full weight reduction, no ballast. Added rear wing. This is the first car I have at least somewhat enjoyed using, and felt a LOT faster/easier on the track than any of those previous cars. Made a quick 1.2 second improvement within a few laps of using it, and red-lapped some even faster times with it. Probably could go at least another full second faster with it in my very next session since I had a couple corners, especially the final one leading into the main straight, where I swung it sideways and lost a ton of time. So, really probably about 2, maybe even 3 whole seconds faster than any of those other cars (for me, I mean) (at least, in their stock-suspension form that is, I didn't try actually tuning any of them yet).

I haven't even tried the Shelby yet, since I remember its handling characteristics from some previous TT a few months ago, and hated it. I guess I might give it a try eventually once some of the really fast people post their tunes for it, since it is just such a fast car, but, I'll try to avoid it at least for these first few days while I am learning the track I think, since no need to torture myself and my hands/wrists with a car like that just yet.

So, I am curious what other cars you guys have tried so far, and which ones you think have the most stable/easy-to-drive feel to them, whilst still being capable of putting up a pretty fast time?

Used Ed's Mazda RX-7 Spirit Type A (FD) '02 for five quick laps just now while on my lunch break and got into the 1:25's (just barely) with a 2:25.963.

Great set-up Ed... Need to try and match the transmission and remove the installed front aero.

If I can get better in the "S" section and then the last left handed sweeper I think there is another second for me in this one. This track is not very easy for sure.

May still try the S2000 later on once I hit the wall with my times and the Mazda.

Thanks again Ed, great overall tune and a real drivers car or as Mr. P used to say a pilot car.

i think i like to try this with a BRZ and/or GT86 (have severals of those) and i want to get gold with one of those.
hope this will be possible.
I was able to gold this with my BRZ with a time of 1:29.376, it was a lot easier to handle than the series one Shelby. If you want to try this tune you can, this was my attempt at tuning.

Just tried out Ed's RX-7 tune.

Got a big improvement in my time, lowering it from 1:28.7 down to 1:26.8 in just a few laps, so this is definitely the fastest car I've tried as of so far (I haven't tried the Shelby yet, though).

I also like the feel of the handling on this car a lot better than the other ones I've tried so far. Seems much more stable.

Made some minor adjustments to Ed's Mazda RX-7 tune to help fit my driving style/skills and got a much better time of 1:25.279.

Ride height to 115/91
Diff to 12/16/25

Looks like Ed turned in a banker time in the Shelby.

Going to have to try it again. Loosing the most time in the tricky "S" section. Thinking slower initial entry helps with the final exit speed for this part.

I saw that there were a few of them (rx-8's) scattered around the middle or lower half of the Top-250 leaderboard, when I checked earlier today, so, I'm guessing it has some decent potential in the right hands.

I'm still too deeply in love with my new mechanical wife (my RX-7 Spirit R, that is, haha), so I think I will probably put in at least another honeymoon session or two with her before I start sleepin around on her behind her back with German m-series girls, or that long legged American Shelby chick, let alone with her younger Japanese sister (the RX-8). A betrayal of that magnitude might risk crushing the Spirit R's spirit, which could potentially be devastating. I think she'd take it out on me by crashing my PS3 a few feet before the finish line on a 1:25-pace run.

:P
