I always look for a new challenge, so when I read your post about the Legacy Spec B, I decided to try it. Took me a few guesses with the setup, but after about 15 minutes, I managed a Gold time of 1:21.628 without even having a good feel for the car. I see no reason why it couldn't do a 1:20, with a good setup. The biggest key for me was setting the front low and the back high. Thanks for giving me a challenge!

HEY, I wanted to do it too :D

Someone posted that you can only get top 100 with a GSX, but what cars are in the top 500 that are NOT a GSX?
I tried other cars first, like the 70 Mazda 500(?) and got Gold, but 6 seconds off the leaders pace seemed silly.

My best is a 1.16.6xx with the GSX and it was 800ish yesterday. More tuning to be done today!

If there is another competitive car, please post it?

I think there are no other cars in the top 500.
Fastest non GSX on the board was a NSX '02 with a 1:16,4xx.

I tested the RX500 (1:16,507) and the NSX-R LM Road Car (1:16,707).

Got a slight improvement to a 1:16.4, but basically only put me back where I was before, lol.

GSX-R4...I think we hate on it because it doesn't look like a conventional car a little bit, but mostly because everyone uses it to go fast, forming a kind of spec class. But in reality, if it wasn't available, everyone would use the next fastest car for a spec type class just the same. Everyone wants to go fast, so it's inevitable.

I have my car set up almost like a rally car since most of midfield drives like its sandy. I also found that taller gearing in the first 4 gears helps traction and tight 5th and 6th finish off the top speed.

What tricks is everyone trying to get the other 3 SECONDS!!! lol

Got 1:19.997 in my Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR T.M. EDITION Special Color Package '99, saw the GSX times and left. Too many events which favours lightweight cars. I say yes to more one-make events and no to no-weight limit events.

Bored today (as usual) so I tried three other cars to see if they could get Gold. Success with two out of the three, with the Nissan 300ZX 2 Seater '89 and the Toyota FT-1 getting Gold times. As for the other one... I'll just say this, I hate the Hyundai Tiburon! If you look at my best time, you will know why I hate it! :banghead:

I just used Ridox's 500PP '92 Honda NSX-R Ayrton Senna Tribute tune which is based on the real world '92 Honda NSX setup. My first lap only yielded me a Silver Medal time. Lap #2 resulted in a Gold Medal time of 1:21.198. I'm sure a better driver could achieve a much better lap time with this car. No, you won't find yourself among the world leaders, but it sure beats using the GSX-R, in my book.

As far as the PP discussion goes... PD needs to take a serious look at how it calculates PP and drastically overhaul it for GT7. Installing a Customizable suspension doesn't affect PP. Swapping out transmissions doesn't affect PP. Aerodynamics doesn't affect PP, except for adding a Flat Floor which will raise your PP total but result in slower lap times. Installing racing brakes doesn't affect PP. Changing tires doesn't affect PP. Installing a Limited Slip Differential, Dual or Triple Plate clutch and/or carbon drive shaft should all affect PP, but they don't. This is ridiculous.

Go grab any car that's around 450-475PP and meet me at the start line with it 100% stock from the dealer. I'll buy the same car but upgrade everything I can mentioned above and throw on some Sport Soft tires while you're stuck with CS tires. As long as we are of a similar skill level to begin with, I am going to mop the floor with you and your un-modded car.

I spend a lot of time chatting about GT6 with my brother who happens to own an XBox One and Forza 5. Forza updates a car's PP value when you make changes to the parts I listed above. And they should! It just makes sense. I really hope PD gets a clue before GT7 is released. Unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath.

They did a ranking system in GT2 iirc that changed with parts upgrades wasn't though enough tho or balanced well.

Started yesterday using the GSX and was at 1:16.336 with mostly
nExx
tune, apart from the gearbox. Found I was nearly 30hp less than him and the others though and realised I had to change the oil to get ahead a bit. Didn't want to change the oil in the one I was using so bought another one and did so (and added more ballast of course).
Didn't that make a difference. In no time at all I was down to 1:15.548 for pos # 275.
(don't know why the time came up so big)

1.21 in RX7 FD RS '98 light tuned (sports suspension, power upgrades up to 460PS, clutch, driveshaft). Felt really nice and last update changed behaviour under braking a lot. Much less understeer now.

UPDATE: Made another 6-7 laps yesterday and lowered time at 1.20.

Something I figured out was that while in free run with high grip loss in track settings made a 1.19 with car having more grip, in this TT event car was loser and grip was considerably less on same tires. Surface felt a bit wet but without spray. Strange thing.

So I bought a Hyundai Clix, and tuned it to 500pp. Took a couple of tweaks to setup to get 1:21.1.

Found out a couple of other less likely candidates:

Toyota Caldina (GT4?) for 1:21.6
Subara Legacy Wagon, 3.0R: 1:21.7, I did have a lap .3 ahead but went off in the first tunnel.

Thanks to a tweaked @WhoosierGirl setup...

Thanks to you, and @WhoosierGirl I ran a 1:15.968 after just 6 laps (currently 625th). I didn't know what spoiler to use, so I just used a general one. Also, the trans settings took me a bit to get right (FD goes all the way up, top speed goes all the way down, set gears, then FD again). I think I'll blast this one some more tonight, I know I'm leaving all sorts of time on the table, but the car feels very loose on my DS3, even using TC3. Anyway, thanks again.

Man, I've got 100 laps a quarter lap at a time, lol. Today the same car and settings I was nearly a second slower. lol

Try again later.

I found when I fired up last night I was slower than earlier, checked the settings and I was down some hp. Changed the oil again and that fixed it.

edit..... Twice today I had to change the oil as power dropped off, 12 hp the last time.

Anyway it's working, now on 1:15.169 for pos #155.

Here's my set up for the GSXR for anyone who cares to try it... I'm no tuning expert but this felt pretty good a few days ago when i last raced it and was good for a mid 1'14... hopefully it can help others to a better laptime as it's pretty sweet if i don't say so haha 👍

Buy a new GSXR and change the oil and adjust the car as below... Good luck

Yeah, I check that every time I go in and try settings changes. I only have 430 miles on the car and have changed the oil three times. Right before I changed it, the PP would drop every lap! lol

I'm going to try your setup tomorrow Mr P. Thanks!

I did go in with my Toyota 86 and easily got Gold with a good cushion, 120.9. But that's 6 seconds off the pace, barely a good pace car.
I even tried my Subaru That I used in rally seasonal, just to see if more grip would equal more speed on the sandy feeling comfort softs...nope. Slug. 124.4.

GSXR tuning here we come!

I spent about 10 minutes total time setting up (guessing!) and racing the Mazda Kusabi '03 to barely get a Gold time! I can't imagine imagine what times the car could run with a proper tune and a better driver than myself? That's what I love about this game... Every day you can discover some hidden gem that you previously would never have thought to buy and race..

I must admit, the only reason I bought it was because I said to myself.... Man what did they do to the front grille area of the car? It's so ugly, I have to try it!

Hey Mr P, can you please help me with your transmission? I tried all sorts of way but unable to get those numbers, followed what you wrote there, final gear to max, max speed to minimum.

I hit this one again last night for a 1:15.5, and now I see this. Guess I'll hit it again tonight, thanks for the info!!!

Sorry... I just checked and I was wrong regarding the final gear to max :embarrassed: that was another set up :P

Please reset gears to default and keep the final gear at 5.000 then adjust max speed to minimum and adjust all individual gears accordingly 👍

That will work now... apologies again
