Share you setup plz =)

Still working on it, and will post sometime tomorrow... but there's no magic tune to make the car easy to drive, it's all about being mega sensitive to the weight transfers when braking and when turning.

Important bits so far;

Brakes 7 1
Rear toe +0.20
LSD 5 10 20
Full weight reduction
High RPM Turbo

May i ask what do you like of this 'brick' ? ' Banter Alert here'

I loved this car when i was little i even had a poster of it in my room, but i'll be frank the 1st time i drove it in GT6 i was like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat  ? Even when approaching a bend at like 60 km\h the back of it try to snap and roll like a crazy bee.

I grow up believing that Ferrari were handling like 'heaven' even the most twisted ones, but please how it has been 'simulated' on GT6 it's an Insult to such a beautiful car. To be fair i just made some laps with the stock version of it without touching anything but i cannot believe how bad the handling is. And i'm even using a wheel not a DS3...:ouch:

I'll try some tunes and whatever but for now the stock verison is pretty 🤬.

Sorry for this banter :banghead:

Maybe i need to shup up and drive :grumpy:

Why do I love it?

This...

I like the fact that they force you to drive a car that is actually difficult to control.

This car throttle is damn sensitive :scared: .+ easily spin. After 3 hours setting it for my Ds3 ( no assist) to drive this 'famous' Italian car, = surrender for my pad.
Try again got 1:27.9 . Maybe my tune lousy!

Almost the same as what I'm fiddling with - my brakes were 5,1 - toe +0.25 - LSD 8 40 50.I'll try the High RPM Turbo tomorrow. 👍

What size wheels are you using?
I ran my 1.25.4 with Stock.

Also, I'm running a higher and softer rear to try to control it but to no avail

It's like you say though, whatever settings you're using, you've got to patiently drive this Maniac.

For the gears, I think the 'Five Speed Gearbox' upgrade (ie the non-adjustable but upgraded one) is absolutely fine, and spares you worrying about the 1.17 adjustable transmission bug.

I got 1'28.4xx with these suspension settings:

RH 70/70
SR 9/11.22
DC 4/4
DR 5/5
ARB 3/1
Cam 0/0
Toe 0/0.20

then full weight reduction and a ECU upgrade only, trimmed the power to be at 550pp.

The handling is 'different', but fun once you get the hang of it !

This one'll take a bit of time to get. Managed a 1:31.4XX on my first lap, after running off several times. Gonna try again tomorrow. Probably gonna need a tune for it, although I thought I saw one on the first page.

Stock wheels... I've never upgraded the rims on any of my F40's as I don't think any of the aftermarkets ones suit it!

Yeah, this is a drivers event - the car has so much natural rotation off the throttle/brakes that tuning can only do so much without making the resulting understeer frustrating.

To be quick in this one you have to run perfect lines and be so smooth on the transitions.

Thanks Stotty! Tried your LSD. Changed it a bit and now use 5 12 18, but use DS3 and succeeded improving on my previous time.

Had a quick go at this last night in a stock F40, golded it with a low 1:30, but there's more time in it. I suppose I should try to tune one now, but the stock one is just such a compelling drive! You just have to be prepared to drive it with very positive throttle inputs, and use just a little power-oversteer to counter the mid-corner understeer.

Great event.

Seems that this event is made for me, not in the success wise, but the nature of the event with only one car allowed, me like.
Currently @ 1:27.708 with only couple of laps, and with pretty much stock tune in suspension (only cambers to 0), just some changes is LSD.

I jumped straight into a tuned car rather than trying to gold with the standard, so took all the mods off and ran it again.

It's a much nicer car to drive stock, really was having fun didn't notice the time pass :) Best was a high 1:28

Think it also helped with my lines and understanding the car...

Just did it and loved it.

Bronze in Stock, Gold with some tweaks.

Setup by heart:
Suspension height: 85/95 (not sure if raising the rear helped or not...)
Springs around: 9/20 (needs fine tuning)
Dampers 3/7 - 6/3
Rollbar 3/6 (if I do it again, I'll probably go 1/1 or close as usual, was just playing "safe" here)
Camber 0.2/0.0
Toe -0.05/0.12 (I loath negative toe in the front, but in this case...)

Race braking 5/5 (didn't touch it, should be good with 7/5)

Personalized GBox, but didn't touch ratios.

LSD 5/15/5

Think I added a bit of power (not sure nor can recall what)

Reduced all weight, and no ballast. That weight distribution worked fine for me.

Just do a couple laps smoothly to learn the braking and turning points, then start threading the needle. Always very smoothly. Aim carefully for the apex and tap the gas as you come off the brakes. Then turn using small throttle adjustments, for power or lift off oversteer.

I really found it incredibly rewarding and challenging, always on the edge!

What a wild ride that was! I wasn't sure I'd crack a gold last night, but now I feel like a cigarette!

I used the Ridox tune for suspension and diff.
I added more power to compensate for the 200kgs of ballast I added to the front of the car
I used the fully custom box set at 300km/h - because this glitch ain't fixed....
Did 4 laps and hit a 1.30.96 - Job done. I hate Apricot Hill with a passion.

It is a wild ride, you have to live with the oversteer and make it work for you. Don't over cook the rears - I used TC, so don't go too hard on the power or it will bog down. Trick is to feel the balance and go with it. Try to be smooth whilst still sideways, don't be too aggressive or it will bite you. Once you have the feeling right, you will gold it with ease, and with practice, could drive at 3/10ths and still do a gold lap once you have the feeling sorted. It doesn't respond to aggression, you have to work with the car to get it there.

I should use my F40 more now that I have it handling OK and worked out its tricks.
It sure is a beast that needs to be tamed though. It's not perfect, which makes you work for it a bit more.

I got gold first lap (lucky, I guess). I just did a few tweaks to the car. I added some weight so I could move the ballast to the front to get a little better weight distribution, and I changed the camber to 0.

I think I'll try this later tonight with the Exeter (Shaunm80) tune, his tunes are awesome.

Thanks for this tune, mate, finally helped to Gold my lap.
BTW: the tranny-bug is still alive and doesn't make things easier!!! :banghead::banghead::banghead:

No, it's okay!
I'm a Ferraristo since I was a child, but I would NEVER buy this one!
Anyway, what I heared from people who know how to drive such cars and have driven an F40 IRL, the GT6-version is pretty much like the real car. i.e.: close to undriveable!

However: hate the car, hate the track, got Gold... ---> outta here! :D

I've used this my F40 alot (mines done over 1,500 miles) in the career mode and it was never this hard to control. using it in thie seaonal is near inpossable to get a lap in with out the back end snapping out. PD really had played about with the way this car handles and have wrecked a good car.

Ok, got it. 1:30.731

The trick for me was to put rear dampers all the way up to 9 and turn on AS. This allows you to mash the throttle with controllable oversteer. I drifted right out of corners and my time was still faster than with less dampers.

Drifting experience seems to really help with this one. I've really been into drifting for the past couple months and I think that showed with this car. It's much easier to handle with that knowledge, imo.

Thanks for this tune, mate, finally helped to Gold my lap.

That's Exeter's tune, he's pretty awesome at tuning for DS3 users. Still, nothing could fix this damn godforsaken car. You know it's bad when top tunes and TC3 still don't make the car enjoyable. Selling the car now.

Has the tranny glitch been resolved? How can one change the final gear after setting the gears as in the tune instructions without everything switching back to default?

The final is set on the first step and stays the same at 3.620, to avoid the glitch. Oh, wait, :banghead: I made a typo on the 1st step :grumpy:, final should be 3.620. I have fixed the post. Sorry for the mistake, it should work nicely now on 1.17

Notes :

The above quote is from original replica which provides some background information on the original build, this 550PP version is based on.

The 550PP F40 is a combination of the EU Auto Motorsport Mag 1989 replica and revision made for F40 FITT GTP SuperCar Shootout at Midfield ( March-April 2015 ) The F40 wasn't entered in the shootout, but I decided to lower the power and set it at 550PP. This F40 offers a unique experience, with setup aimed to replicate real life performance in previous form, but now has more power to play with and much higher grip tire as well.

At Apricot Hill, it should easily do 1:27s in 1st lap :D

ENJOY

UPDATE : Fixed the final drive value.

Just for something to watch and enjoy, this is what happens when you drive an F40 in the rain (starts at 15:50) :
