6/20/12 - A-Spec: 530PP 4WD Challenge

Hi guys, I won seasonal events 530pp challenge. Car used to win all 5 races -
Skyline GT-R R32 TC

1st race, car setup - down force 10/20, top speed 178, b top stop speed 186, final gear 4.468,
traction 4, ABS 1, hp 379, took 1st place on the 4th lap.

2nd race Grand Valley - same setup as above took 1st place on the 4th lap.

3rd race Cape Ring car setup - hp 348, down force 17/36, top speed 168, b top speed 186,
final gear 4.939. took 1st place on the 2nd lap.

4th race Sarthe Circuit same setup used as the 1st race. just used final gear to top speed 180,

5th race Toscana Pavement same setup as the 1st race. Took 1st place on the 5th lap.

Car ticket won - Escudo dirt trail car.

1,030,000 on sarthe with a 3000GT VR-4. Had like 20 seconds to spare. Looks like I found a new cash cow.

I haven't been on both GTP and GT5 lately but I don't understand how this happens? Even with the 200% bonus. I think (correct me if I am wrong) it's something with having less PP on a car than the max allowed but when I do a 650pp race in a 580pp car I don't get a bonus. I'm just curious as too how. I don't need more money because I am at the limit but just wondering.

Never mind, I just noticed it at the bottom of the description of some A-spec seasonals. I had done all the challenges (1-6) and assumed the bonus was on them also.

If you can't do it at <530 then just stick it at 530

I guess a 4wd car with Aero would be easiest to win the races with, Marinus.

The Sports Hard tyres does limit cornering speed but a bit of downforce can give you a huge edge in speed in the corners and prevent too many mistakes as your car will be planted and easier to lap with.

Once you know the car and the tracks then you can dial away the aero.
I found the Audi R8 4.2 more than able to get an easy win with no driver aids (No ABS TCS or cupholders) -

With the Nissan GTR Academy Special (The black one) I made the 2 laps in 8.30 minutes at 530 PP with the Stock tune. Now i will check how much i can lower the pp with a praiano tune.

Cutting corners here is not cheating. You are penalised in the Time Trial races for going off track, bumping, even being bumped, but these are not Time Trials.

These are for having fun and getting your lowest PP win.

Of course don't go off track if that's the only way you think the race should be run, but for most here it's about having fun and achieving their lowest PP win, and to do so requires some 'specialist' driving techniques.

Settings:
All ballast (I didn't move it)
50% power
Change top speed to 280km/h
2° camber front and rear
Stiffen springs and dampers to handle weight

Equals 450pp and won by ages (cutting corners).

Took a run at GV with the Clix. I will never pull that steaming pile out of my garage again.

I think there is an error giving sport hard tires the traction of comfort tires on this car. I have run a dozen cars at least in this event and this one is the only one that won't stick front or rear. Some cars push. Some cars are loose. This one is perfectly balanced, doing perfect 4-wheel slides off every corner.

And with the same power to weight ratio of any other car, it spins the tires where all other cars hook.

I quit the race and checked because I was positive I somehow put on comfort tires.

I tried playing with the tuning and I was able to make it loose or tight but overall grip remained crap.

I am just not that impressed with the "lowest PP" when half of the track is being cut. So right, you can cut the corners without in-game penalty, but you'll get much more respect from the community if you actually make an effort to run the actual track.

I agree. I'd like to see more posts about "legal" driving. I don't mind anyone cheating - I do it a lot myself in other games - I just find it more enjoyable not to in this case.

I've done them all with a detuned Impreza Super Touring Car. It corners like a dream, so Sarthe seems by far the hardest because of the long straits. The best I've done so far is 520PP. I tried 510 but couldn't keep up on Mulsanne but a better driver might be able to.

For me the trick has been to slipstream one of the faster cars down Mulsanne, outbreak them at the chicanes and hopefully get behind another, faster car until the next chicane. At the Porsche curves I make up a lot of time on the front runners - like 3-4 seconds - due to the sublime handling of the Impreza, so when lap 2 starts I'm usually second or third and can draft the leader down Mulsanne.

Cape Ring could probably be done with a lot less PP but I haven't tried that yet.

Same crap, different day I see, lol. Its a shame that people can't be morally responsible. This reminds me of what I used to tell my daughter when she was a young teen and first started dating and on the subject of sex. "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." People can do it if they want, just don't come to the forums bragging about the low PP level achieved. "Oh, but I cut the track" just makes you look like an under achiever.

Applause for you. Way to go. I'm about 3 seconds short right now with 475PP in a Subaru with a Roj tune on it.

Myself, have managed 468PP in a detuned Nissan SKYLINE GT-R M.N.P III (R34) '00 @ Le Sarthe, was not against the STI spec C who is usually out in front though. Can beat that one with 475PP, hugely fun race. 👍

@ Hami: Yea, that what I meant. If they wanna cheat on their own time, fine. But if they are cutting corners for a competition, whether it be for the TT's or here on the forums, it is cheating and therefor wrong.

Couldn't manage a win @ 406PP in the Ingrate (ungrateful) but did it at 415PP for 1.3mil.
Much prefer driving the RUF but can only get it down to about 440PP or a bit less if I recall.

Its not Penalised, but it IS cheating, bet next PDA or ASPECS will have penalties, PDA is pointless if you take very low PP (for a challenge) and then cut corners to win, no challenge there.

I think both methods are valid but not comparable. I've been doing these in a Dodge Ram pick-up and after weeks of being very disciplined doing GTA it's a blast to tear round using the grass and barging the AI out of the way. Later in the week I'm going to have a go in a more sensible car and stick to the track. The Peugeot 205 Rally car seems promising and fun although even fully limited and 200kg added it's a bit of a handful on SH tyres.
