NTSC with the DS2. Finally golded them all yesterday (coffee breaks as well, the last one with the Beat was actually a lot of fun :) ) I had a horrible time in the Suzuka/Motul Z test as well. The lap guide run at Tsukuba with the Mini had me on the verge of giving up. :irked: I only got gold in it by getting the exact time that was required.

Ironically what I'm enjoying the most is the Acura DN-X you get in the A license with Silver.

2 months ago I had 45 gold and 35 silver...

And now, after one month of training at Live for Speed, I tried them again and beated the golds much easier than in the past :D PAL version with the DFP

EDIT: Tomorrow I'll try to take a screenshot of my ford T.

on first getting the game i 'breezed' through the licenses just so i could go race... most of them were silver or bronze, hardly any gold. i got bored later in the game and decided to go better my license trophys. i've golded b, a, and ib. i have about 58 golds and the rest are silvers... one and two bronze. i'm trying to gold ia and s licenses but the rally ones and a couple others are holding me back, i suck at rally :)

The special conditions races are the easiest to gold!

The special conditions races are easier, but one of the licenses (the 205 at chamonix i think) took me hours even to get a bronze. That was tough.

I have the 80 Gold Licenses and the two speed Model T, which I have noodled around the Nordschleife in, with sports tires and max power/min weight.

I thought the Super License test with the Saleen was the most annoying. I couldn't figure out the uber-traction control, and ended up slowing down to go fast (enough). I was glad to get that one done, especially since I saved it for last.

My wish for GT5 is that they put back in the wet skid pad tests.

My system is NTSC and I use the DFP, right foot only.

Congratulations to all the other All-Golds license holders. đź‘Ť

--------------------------------

And by the way, when I did a lap of the Nordschleife with the Model T in arcade with maximum power and minimum weight, and with sports medium tires, my lap time was 14'56.005" and great fun. The trick is to keep the engine rpm off the governor, which is 350 rpm. If you hit the governor the engine drops 50 rpm, so you've got to release the throttle on the flats to maintain a good pace. If anyone hasn't actually tried driving the T, you're missing out.

I didn't even have to get out and push it up from der Bergwerk.

I have to take my hat off to all of you with the skill and perserverance to get 80 golds. Hell I'm having enough trouble getting all gold for the B License ,let alone the Special. Lap runs are always my downfall!

I managed to get all golds last week (what a relief).
(PAL/DS2)

Did take a picture of Mr T just in case but I don't expect anybody wants to see it.

Congrats to all those that have managed it I know how much work it is.

I started doing S12 first because I thought that this was regarded as possibly the hardest at the time. I figured it would be a downhill ride from there as I worked backwards. How wrong I was :)

Apart from S12 Suzuka , other highlights were B14 El Capitan, A13 Trial Mountain (Skyline) and S3 Special Stage Route 5 (Saleen). I can't pretend I enjoyed moments such as these and only kept going because I didn't want to quit the challenge. Nothing worse than going to bed after failing to complete a test you had been trying for ages. Never again (said that before).

Finally I can sleep at night again.

Good luck to those trying at the moment.

Edited because I just realised I meant S12 where I had written S13. Infinion wasn't so bad if I remember rightly and it certainly wasn't in the league of S12. This is exactly the kind of things that start happening after doing all the golds. Now what day was it again?

Completed mine today at Chamonix. S-12 left nerve damage in my thumbs lol. Two endurance races away from the black PD formula. NTSC/DS2.

hiya..massive PS2 newbie here > go easy :-)

comin from a xbox background > PGR2,Forza etc etc, i found a void in my racing game life > so decided to buy a new slimPS2+GT4 (only!!!) plus i wanted to see what the whole fuss was about this racer !!! and have to say 'WHOA' best ever sim racer EVER-period.

Forza has about 10% better grafix but thats it...now cant wait for GT5 !!

so after a months play > starting with the Licence i completed with 80 GOLDS.
very challenging indeed. but i reckon PGR2 platinums were tougher..

only 2 gave me absolute grief > grrr that was InterA-test 16 (oh the power was like a light switch) and S-test12.

80 golds done on PAL with normal dualshock2 controller!! with all game default settings.

now 24.9% into it and this is bloody huge!!! cool.

heres a link to the proof page for 80 golds :-)

Be surprised if I ever get 80...I'm struggling to get 16 on Domestic B...annoying...I can complete the game and yet get no where near golding the licenses after so so many hard bad tempered nights.

My trick was to just try to beat my ghost everytime... if the ghost would ever beat me, i'd just go off course and start over again.. untill eventualy i got all 80 golds.

Some golds took me 3 nights of about 2 hours of trying hard.... it's a good feeling when you hear the gold music telling you you finaly made it!

Yea I can imagine, trouble is I'm super competative, so the ghost puts me off because it makes me want to race it and when I race to a time limit I'm susceptable (sp?) to mistakes.

Yes, that's perfect...

What happens when you do mistakes? you learn to not do them again! At least, thats my case...

anyways, i use the Ghost mostly to know if i'm doing better or if i'm doing worst...

Sometimes, the ghost is in front of me, but i know that a few curves after (on the previous run) i messed up, so i let him be in front, knowing i'll get ahead of him once i reach the "where i previously messed up" spot. it'll be even easier to get in front of my ghost on the next run knowing i was behind him and the next ghost will be easier to be in front.

Give it a try... you'll thank me!

OT - But if you've more or less just bought it, and thinks it's the best Sim ever, I highly suggest you buy the DFP as well (wheel ?) - Increases the enjoyment 10 fold !...

Just don't fall into the problem of racing with a ghost which is unnecessarily distracting.

When I went for all golds on GT3, the last one I managed to get gold was S-6 (Viper at Laguna Seca). I spent weeks on it, and never got anywhere. Later I figured out that it was because I kept racing against my same fastest ghost, a ghost which was blazingly fast through the first two sectors. As a result, most of my runs against that ghost, I was 1-3 car lengths behind the ghost for the first half of the lap and it was very distracting.

I finally gave up on racing against that ghost, and within an hour or two I had a new fast lap, and within a day or so, I had the gold at last.

I guess what I'm saying is that some ghosts are helpful, some are not...

Well, it all depends on how your doing on your progress... if the car is really distracting, yes, by all means, turn it off.

But having it on really show you where you do the mistakes and where you are improving... if your ghost is right on top of you (same area) and you take a curve and come out in front, you know you took it well enough to gain time there... all you need to od is do it again. ;)

I've noticed (with me personally) I find them distracting on the majority of tests, all except S licenses, then I'm happy to have them because it usually works in pushing me without me making mistakes (except the rallies, for me they have to be ghost free

See.. for me, the ghost helped even more on the rallies... It really helps you get the best line, and if there is a type of race that the line is most crucial, it's the rallies (GT game races i mean)

I will second that, not knowing or having a line in the rallies is disasterous when you're in the Hard Rallies...I managed to survive those though, with the help of the Stormer's width lol. I've given up on licenses, for now, got GT Concept and Prologue coming through the post over the weekend or monday so I'll be spending time on those.

Why not take the wait time and give a rush at those licenses instead?

:)

Personally I'm starting to want to avoid them lol. Should be getting a DFP too, so hopefully (as a friend has said) it'll be easier to nail them. We'll see, like I say, before I go back to my 80 Golds challenge I'll be doing Concept then prologue (again)

Wan't me to post my 80 golds pic again???
