jamaicanon first getting the game i 'breezed' through the licenses just so i could go race... most of them were silver or bronze, hardly any gold. i got bored later in the game and decided to go better my license trophys. i've golded b, a, and ib. i have about 58 golds and the rest are silvers... one and two bronze. i'm trying to gold ia and s licenses but the rally ones and a couple others are holding me back, i suck at rally![]()
jamaicani have 74 golds... i know i won't hit 80 cuz of the grand canyon super license, and the chimonix
<_Spike_>Be surprised if I ever get 80...I'm struggling to get 16 on Domestic B...annoying...I can complete the game and yet get no where near golding the licenses after so so many hard bad tempered nights.
<_Spike_>Yea I can imagine, trouble is I'm super competative, so the ghost puts me off because it makes me want to race it and when I race to a time limit I'm susceptable (sp?) to mistakes.
atomikhiya..massive PS2 newbie here > go easy :-)
comin from a xbox background > PGR2,Forza etc etc, i found a void in my racing game life > so decided to buy a new slimPS2+GT4 (only!!!) plus i wanted to see what the whole fuss was about this racer !!! and have to say 'WHOA' best ever sim racer EVER-period.
Forza has about 10% better grafix but thats it...now cant wait for GT5 !!
so after a months play > starting with the Licence i completed with 80 GOLDS.
very challenging indeed. but i reckon PGR2 platinums were tougher..
only 2 gave me absolute grief > grrr that was InterA-test 16 (oh the power was like a light switch) and S-test12.
80 golds done on PAL with normal dualshock2 controller!! with all game default settings.
now 24.9% into it and this is bloody huge!!! cool.
heres a link to the proof page for 80 golds :-)
RadikalSometimes, the ghost is in front of me, but i know that a few curves after (on the previous run) i messed up, so i let him be in front, knowing i'll get ahead of him once i reach the "where i previously messed up" spot. it'll be even easier to get in front of my ghost on the next run knowing i was behind him and the next ghost will be easier to be in front.
jbrennenJust don't fall into the problem of racing with a ghost which is unnecessarily distracting.
When I went for all golds on GT3, the last one I managed to get gold was S-6 (Viper at Laguna Seca). I spent weeks on it, and never got anywhere. Later I figured out that it was because I kept racing against my same fastest ghost, a ghost which was blazingly fast through the first two sectors. As a result, most of my runs against that ghost, I was 1-3 car lengths behind the ghost for the first half of the lap and it was very distracting.
I finally gave up on racing against that ghost, and within an hour or two I had a new fast lap, and within a day or so, I had the gold at last.
I guess what I'm saying is that some ghosts are helpful, some are not...
<_Spike_>I've noticed (with me personally) I find them distracting on the majority of tests, all except S licenses, then I'm happy to have them because it usually works in pushing me without me making mistakes (except the rallies, for me they have to be ghost free
<_Spike_>I will second that, not knowing or having a line in the rallies is disasterous when you're in the Hard Rallies...I managed to survive those though, with the help of the Stormer's width lol. I've given up on licenses, for now, got GT Concept and Prologue coming through the post over the weekend or monday so I'll be spending time on those.
<_Spike_>Personally I'm starting to want to avoid them lol. Should be getting a DFP too, so hopefully (as a friend has said) it'll be easier to nail them. We'll see, like I say, before I go back to my 80 Golds challenge I'll be doing Concept then prologue (again)
