Maybe I can make it for Monza, though I'm not guaranteeing anything. Also, for a track like Monza, we should clear up the difference between illegal moving and defending. 2 things, actually. We wouldn't want a repeat of Schumacher/Hamilton. There is also the fact that DRS and drafting being exaggerated in this game will mean that people will want to swerve on a straight if they're fairly far enough ahead, so as to try and break the draft. We should get to a conclusion as to whether or not it is legal.

Peter.

We don't really have any official rules for blocking/swerving as everyone is very fair, and there's never been a need to implement an official rule. If there are any rules in the OP about blocking/swerving then I guess they would apply. A general rule is no blocking, and to give more room then what seems nessecary. The lag seems to affect everyone a little bit, and so don't be swerving to pull out of draft/hold the inside line if the car behind is within 2-3 car lengths.

I suppose the FIA official 1-move rule applies, if you swerve on a straight you can't move back across until after the braking phase? That's my interpretation of the rule anyways, so it could be wrong :P.

Due to things like DRS and KERS, the fastest mistake-free driver will always finish in first in this game, so there isn't a need to be aggressive when defending position. Me and Baumi have had very close wheel-to-wheel racing the past couple races, and while there is a little contact, there's been absolutely no damage/ramming off track. There's also no blocking, at all, only mybe one swerve to chose a line during the braking, but it's not when the other car is too close.

As there is no official rule, I guess it might be a good idea to make one about blocking, if people feel it's needed.

As for the swerving to pull out of the draft, well I don't think that should really be allowed. The car behind can swerve too, and with things like lag which can be different lap to lap, all that could come out of that is a comepletely unnesecary crash due to lag; and slower laptimes for both the car in front and the car behind due to the swerving.

I hope that makes sense, as on my Ipod it looks really long and confusing . My question going into Monza, is about the corner cutting (especially at Ascari?) Should we just go with whatever the game allows?

In previous races you had rules setting on reduced.

I think you/we should have the rules setting on realistic.

If you want to break draft don't swerve; gradually change (lanes) position.

I also go by the f1 one move only rule; so I may take the inside line and make you go the long way around :sly:

Just "give me space, give me space" :), as Alonzo says :)

When rules are set to reduced the game only gives time penalties, so now if someone gets an unfair which costs them a position we can change the result to what it truly was. When it's set to realistic it's a drive-through penalty, and it's impossible to set the results back to what they were completely accurately.

And against humans, there's no real way to break the draft anyway, as the person behind can just turn and follow anyway.

Disregard the McLaren, can I use the HRT, please? Feel like supporting my favorite backmarkers instead.

I'm not entirely sure that I'll be able to make it this week, so if someone else is prepared to host the race if needed that'd probably be a good idea if I'm not able to make it.

Just Baumi and I were available; we had a few public 20% races; lets try again next Sunday after the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal

Yes, I vote we race after the Canadian Grand Prix (live broadcast); which barring red flags and whatever........... how about 9:15 p.m. GMT which is 1:15 p.m Pacific Daylight Time

I think I'll probably be able to make it now, but no guarantees as I have a new router and it might not connect. So, I guess we'll start 45minutes after normal time. Too bad to hear that you won't be there Baumi.
I haven't used my PS3 for at least a week, and have done no laps at Monza for at least 3weeks, so I'm not expecting a win today, though perhaps after watching my home grand prix I'll be so inspired I'll be super quick :)

I think I've got Monza right, I've historically performed well here, but I don't know at all what the most ideal wing settings are.
