It's funny how the rear tires on my Mercedes wore out really fast just like they did on the Mercedes F1 car prior to their pirelli test. Maybe if I ask them for some data, it might help. And wasn't winning a race 25 points and not 30 before last nights race?

Quite happy with how the race went. Really wasn't expecting to win considering that I qualified far down the field. That fact that I effectively had more-or-less a free pitstop was surprising - I came in for an extra stop after mistakingly going back out on mediums instead of changing onto softs for what was meant to be my third and final stop.
Had some decent battles with some of the guys - Predator, Iownall and Freak - along the way which kept things interesting. I was disappointed when Predator left, though, as it looked as though he was going to be tough to beat up until he had an incident.
Hopefully things will be closer on Sunday.
Grats to Seth as well.

Yeah, it was a great race and a good drive from you. So you were on racing softs near the end of the race? I was on older mediums, so my performance was a little hindered then.

Okay, I snuck on and did testing.
I ran the Panoz at 553hp and 1245kg (ballast to the rear), and I so far ran a 1'53.498.
I want to know if that is ballpark or not.

I want to know if that is ballpark or not. I know Nurburgring isn't exactly the Panoz's track and I'm sure you guys are running 1'52s NP but I just want to know how far off I am.

In the gt1 class i was in low 1:48

Yeh, I was on softs at the end. Just a shame that I pressed the 'x' button too fast during my third stop, but at least I learnt a bit more about the tyre rules so that's cool.

And GTS is usually only 2 seconds off -_- yeah, I'm WAAAY off target then.

Depends on the tyre - I was in the mid 1:51's on softs and around the 53's-54's on the mediums.

Looking forward to the rematch on Sunday. It's gonna be a tight fit with the F1 highlights and our race start... any chance of a slightly delayed start?
Also, can we change the race-finish countdown to 3 minutes so that some of us GTS guys can finish?

That was last seasons totals. I forgot to update that. Last season was 25 points for the win and 25kg. This season is 30 points for the win and 30kg. 2nd place gets more points than ballast so its fair. Plus the bonus points you will get for leading most the race and pole. Im guessing you set fastest lap too! Ill give a post about the results today.

I'll change the race delay to 150 seconds for tomorrow! Thats two and a half minutes. So you will be able to complete the lap youre on. After the winner finishes youre free to race until you complete the lap youre on. If youre on the same straight as the winner overall but directly behind, you can go ahead and do that other lap too.

You dont need ballast like that. The Panoz can run 1:52s easily at 1160-1170kg.

Alright, changed oil, 1170kg, and took the chicane in third gear giving me a 1'52.6, still one second off. I just can't beat you guys' tunes. I can't get help from anyone because I have to tune my cars so radically different from anyone that no one would be able to drive my tunes if they tested them, just to compete with you guys.
I don't even know if I can get on tomorrow, I'll see at around 12.

Why is it you tune your cars that way?

Simple. I drive the 2nd toughest configuration that any person could ever attempt to drive with. The controller already doesn't turn like a wheel, so I need to make the car oversteer like hell. Once that happens, I have two options, and both of them lead to misery.
One: Adapt and pray I can hang on, get good tire wear, AND not wreck people.
Two: Adjust a random part of the suspension to get the car to stop wheelspin, and therefore, make the car too tight, and then mess with the Camber/Toe to get the car turning again, and go to option one.
If I don't have that slide-in/slide-out feeling, I can't drive the car FAST.

No car will dominate every track. The NSX did well here, its naturally good with the turns at Nurburgring. The Panoz will be the best at a straight line top speed course. Tracks like Daytona, Monza, Sarthe and Indy it will be at the front. Plus success ballast will keep the faster guys back from dominating.

Hope to see everyone later today! I hope to get at least 10 to show up like Friday. I will also post the race results. Stay tuned.

Aware. At Nurb I'd be surprised if an MR car didn't win there, especially the XJ220 and the NSX-R. I'd be surprised if the Panoz is superseded at Le Mans, that'll be tough.

INTRODUCTION

The Nürburgring is a motorsports complex around the village of Nürburg, Germany. It is located about 70 km (43 mi) south of Cologne, and 120 km (75 mi) northwest of Frankfurt. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984 (where we race), and a much longer old "Northern loop" track which was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. The old track was nicknamed "The Green Hell" by Jackie Stewart, and is widely considered as the most demanding and difficult purpose-built racing circuit in the world.

The 'new course', or as it's been named GP-Strecke, was built in 1984 and is where we race today. With it's 16 turns and 630meter straight, top speeds only reach around 280kmh (174mph). The Nurburgring is a high-downforce, high-speed German classic. Who will stand at the top of their class in the new "Green Hell"?
