A month later, your opinion on GTSport?

It’s fun. But I still am against a problem. I can’t drive the tracks I really want! I find myself switching to pcars.
But i suspect if polyphony won’t bring out some me more tracks to drive the sport mode will suffer. I don’t need 1000+ cars. But I want to drive more variety of tracks! A nice GT classic track dlc would be great! Trial mountain, Matterhorn, apricot hill etc. And ofcourse a Real world track DLC. Monza, spa, silverstone etc.

Do you race Iracing or do you just do internet searches? I've looked for you out of curiosity and couldn't find any version of your user name there. They do use real names though and I could have missed it.

Do you really think this is my real name?

EDIT: do you agree or not that organized community leagues give a better online racing than public lobbies in any racing game?

I do not. I think for pick up and play in a controlled environment GT Sport has every title out there beat now. I think the ability to jump in an online race against a myriad of people from all over the world at the drop of a hat has been grossly underappreciated by those bashing GT Sport.

As far as Iracing, the UI alone is enough to dissuade any newcomer to the game from ever getting to organized leagues.

Edit. If your point is are they cleaner, then the answer would be yes. But that doesn't matter if you can't get a race when you want it due to all of the above.

I am not "bashing GTS".The only reason I think its an 8/10 game, its the online part and nothing else.If not for the online, then for me it would be a 5-6/10 at best.

iRacing too has "similar" problems with online racing (like any other title). The only difference is that after a decade they manage those betters.
And again, this is not about iracing vs GTS.
Its about "public lobbies" vs "organized league lobbies" (my point).

Price speaks more than my opinion : you can buy GTSport here in France for 15euros. Only a month later!
Yesterday I posted a rockbottom price of €29 in the Netherlands. And now you reveal the lowest of the lowest price of €15 after 1 month.
Why do you French always get better prices then the Dutch ;).

On a more serious note: I bought GT Sport as a pre-order. Played it a lot immediately after launch but have not touched it in the last two weeks because I'm too busy and have lots of fun with other real sims. If impatient and may be naive me knew it would have such a price drop after one month* I would have waited. We like Dutch treat after all and probably that's goes for all countries when it hits your own wallet .

* price dorps are normal but so quick after release?

Not so quick for games like GTA 5 or the latest FIFA game. The price drop was predictable for GTSport : racing games are no more something mainstream and the golden era of GT is over; not a lot of hype for GTSport given its online focus and the car/track/feature list.
If you try to find GT videos on youtube, they are either sponsored videos or with very few views. Today, GT as a brand as a not so cool image that can be explained by many of its old flaws (collisions, stiff camera views, sounds, artsy menus...).

I did my first two online races this weekend. Started at DR = E, SR = D. First race was Interlagos and qualifed 2nd. Managed 1st place when they made a mistake early. I slowly pulled away for the rest of the race, finishing a few seconds ahead of 2nd place. No incidents with other cars, no big mistakes... first online race, first win! Sweet! Second race was the one-make (Driving Park in the Genesis). Qualified 4th, a few minor contacts with walls/other cars, finished in 3rd. At the end of the night, my DR = D and SR = C. Pretty good improvement for just two races.

Being new to the online racing, I will surely experience some of the dipsharts and dive bombers people are describing here, but I will try to remember that it's not just a few incidents that will decide my ratings -- it is the consistent clean and fast racing that will bring my rankings up over time. So what if I don't win every race that I think I should win... so what if I didn't complete that pass like I wanted to. I need to behave respectfully and share the track with others, while putting my foot to the floor as often as possible LOL. That's how Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Dungey won their championships: keep doing your very best, every time, while respecting other racers and staying out of trouble... even if it means not winning the race. It is not necessary to place a podium every time. Consistency is key!

You'll get some great races at times, and some mediocre ones. Then you'll get a few where one person completely ruins your race.

Last week I raced Interlagos in the Nations cup and after having a great qualifying session I started in P2. I was pushed off track in turn 1, then rear ended when I tried to rejoin, then bumped again as I was trying to regain traction (my car was loose), which finally caused me to spin out pushing me back to P18. The guy who spun me out went on to win after starting P5, which sucks because I had the pace to win that race.

Whereas last night the daily race was at Interlagos, I joined just before the start and had enough time to throw down 1 qualifying lap, it wasn't great - more than a second off my best time and I started in 7th.
Somehow I managed to go from 7th to 2nd in just over 1 lap of racing - all while doing it clean. I then tried to chase down P1 for the last 2.5 laps, but he had built a 3 second gap by the time I got to P2 and I wasn't able to catch anymore time, the 3 sec gap stayed at 3 sec and we drove away from the balance of the field.
How I managed to maintain a clean race bonus while passing 5 people in just over a lap on interlagos amazes me still, but it was an incredibly exciting race.

I do not understand all the fuss about single player mode, since online gaming existed I have not bothered with single player modes or campaigns in any multiplayer capable game, with the exception of GTA5. There is just no satisfaction whooping AI. For people wanting their single player ego boosts - there are custom races.
this might be hard for you to believe, but not everyone plays video games to boost their virtual ego

Or maybe some people enjoy video games more by themselves than with random strangers they don’t know, who may or may not decide to grief other players. It’s all down to preference at the end of the day. What I don’t understand is why this is such a difficult concept to grasp.

Neither of which were from before the start of it, and simply further reinforce the disjointed communication from PD and Sony.

The fact remains that the official press release (which every gaming site used to put the story of the demo together) referred to it exclusively as a demo, as did the PS Store.

Nope, and don't attempt to tell members or staff how they should post.
Edit: You know what, I'll just redact this response. It's not worth arguing over something so ridiculous. I'll just suggest taking your own advice. Good day.

Alright, I have an opinion now. I just wanna **** around and make liveries and race when I want, but I will say that goddamn this game is gorgeous, and it sounds noticeably better.

I won't love it without a single player mode. I'll keep trying to gold everything but once that is done, I'll probably set it down. I went back to playing 5&6 to get trophies just because they have campaign to keep me interested. I've never really cared about playing online.

Liveries/photos? Meh, not my thing. I like some stuff others make though.

I just won my first Race ever. Was on Lake Maggiore with the GT3 in the Manufacturers Championship. Great feeling. Was just the third online race with the T300RS wheel, and my 5th day with it. What a feeling! Was afraid that i would get all tensed up and make mistakes, but i drove like a clockwork :D I want more:D

Well after a scout around on GTS opinions the general consensus is it is a bit naff for one reason or another, Penalties seem to be the main gripe.
A lot of people have a love for it and others are awaiting DLC to improve it.
No career mode is a huge let down, Online racing is excellent (even though I am terrible). I think the opinions have all being stated in this thread.
End of Day it is getting more complaints than praises from the end user so of course PD will be listening and I am just going to sit back and await the DLC to see if the improvements makes the game appeal to me more. Don't know what more I can do.

I prefer single player mode and campaigns and whooping AI is no different than whooping online drivers it is just a bit of fun a game to have a laugh on.
I have no real interest in online racing but a lot do so good luck to them. There is also a huge contingent of driving game players who enjoy both or just single player as I do .
I think the best of both for me is in Driveclub Missions (I think that's what it is called) when you play as an individual but are playing vs the times set globally by the masses. I love that and prefer it to racing on or offline. Each to there own I suppose.

Congrats man. Closest I have come is second. Not worried though, just working on my fundamentals, it will gel when it gels.

My opinion is that it would be an excellent game in 2013 when the PS4 first came out. However releasing what is in essence a half game (like other GT Prologues) makes me far less forgiving of the game's shortcomings.

This I agree with 100%. Considering the production time as well makes much of what’s missing quite unforgivable in my opinion.

I'm really enjoying myself with GT Sports and am definitely sticking with it because there's huge potential too. They'll improve and expand the Sports mode, they'll fix the penalty system, they'll rebalance the cars and hopefully add content.

With the custom races and the ability to set up pretty much whatever you may prefer for an off line race I do not understand people saying this game does not have offline content.

Want fun races, set up 5 lap or longer races on course of choice, set AI to pro, full grid, boost none, slipstream real, damage high, corner cutting high, tire wear at least 5x and fuel consumption on.

Start at the rear and advance to the front totally clean, no contact, no bumping, no off tracks. Totally fun, decent challenge until you hit the front. If you want a little more challenge either restrict your power or run the opposition 1 class higher than yourself.

A blast and also prepares you for when hopefully in the future tire wear and changing grip levels will become more common in the daily or weekly races.

Great practice for learning to run a course contact free at race pace. The only thing this mode will not give you is a trophy or tell you you are winning a championship which against the AI is nothing but an ego stroke to begin with.

We are finally getting many things that we’ve all been whining about for years and we still aren’t happy? I just don’t get it. Cut them some slack. At least they are trying something new instead of the same stuff they’ve been doing...Everyone wants change until we get it... I’m not saying things can’t be improved upon or made even more vast but I don’t feel the need for all the whining and hate.

Im with you, all I remember (even on this forum) with GT6 was complaints about the standard car models still being used, on rails AI, and online racing you could only do with friends you trust and took forever to get into.

Sport answered every complaint Ive had with the series. Sound, no standards, livery, online, AI...is better, really, alot. Its a little jarring, actually dealing with 1000 less cars and variations, track counts, etc. But those were all sacrifices I was totally down for back then, if they could get it right.

They did. Its not perfect, however I myself am glad this isnt just a time trial, car collection, tuning 'game' anymore, and can freaking race. I do worry PDs track rate of time to implement content will leave it lacking sooner than later, but Im cool with it if they build off this to 7 or Sport 2, vs building from GT6 again and giving us PS3 models to inflate car counts.

(100% cleared each title since the first. GT6 and Sport, own every car*).

Not sure if you’ve noticed but all cars are spaced differently in every single race according to qualify times.
I did think this was going on but didn't know why or if I was crazy! Nice observation.

*Car counts from previous post exclude longer running DLC VGT cars and unreleased Mileage cars currently.

I think the problem is not what they added that many of us wanted, but rather the things they unnecessarily took away in place of the things we wanted. There’s no reason why in 2017, we can’t have a solid car racing game on the PS4 with 300+ well modeled “premium” cars, expansive track list, livery editor, single player campaign, “sport” mode, etc.

Its lack of content considering development time is excessive. Won't deny it. But I wouldnt trade this for a port of 6, like what 6 was to 5 and basically what 5 was to 4, with an overhaul to only portions of the game's graphics. Only comparing to the past in the series, not the competition. GT just wont ever blow anyone away again like it did in its heyday and the competition is ahead in a lot of ways, this is true.
