Goddammit. Been trying to get gold for over an hour now, the Toyota always annihilates me on the straight away. Closes I got was 1.8 seconds behind. 20 second head start, plus 100+ PP advantage and rubberbanding... I really wish PD would come up with a better way to increase difficultly rather than throw more BS at you.
the 2j is more than capable of getting in front of the rabbit before the straight as it can corner much better, once there focus on staying in front of him rather than your normal drive line. drive with your mirrors and block him at every cost through the straights. As long as u do this before the last lap u should gain more than enough ground through the rest of the lap to ensure u cross the finish first.
good luck btw not sure if your a tuner but otaliema has a great 600pp tune for this car that is tranny bug friendly

Having great fun with this event. Made another quick 10 million this morning and also started keeping track of a few other statistics as follows.

Quickest lap: 1'01.659
Quickest total race time: 6'31.094
Top speed down the front straight: 191 mph.

So, as you can see, I'm finding all sorts of different ways to enjoy and benefit from this event. Stay fast and race hard.

Power curve of the Daytona Cobra means you have to gear it long. Comes in handy if you get a draft from the Auto Union down the main straight.

Saw the speedo hit 317km/h and climbing as I started looking for an entirely new braking point.

Easy win with the 2J and Otaliema's tune, nice Bank seasonal, will try with other classic beauties, as anyone tried it with the '67 Ford and Ferrari yet?Is ist possible to win?

I've won with the Mark IV, GT40 and the Ferrari 330. I won with all of them using just basic tunes with no special transmission tuning, so to answer your question, yes they can all win fairly easy with a clean run and a decent or better tune.

Here is something you most likely will NEVER see again in this seasonal. The AI 2J finished in 6th place! If only my 541 PP, Ferrari 250 GTO would have had a few more horsepower under the hood, the 2J would have finished in 7th place! BTW... The 2J wrecked in turn 1 of lap three and never recovered...

I've seen this a few times actually in my many times doing this race.

I enjoyed seeing a collection of classic race cars out on the track. First go was in the Shelby Cobra Daytona with both the Toyota 7 and Chappy 2J starting at the front, gained the lead starting lap 5 and won easily from there. Second go was with Auto Union, was pit maneuvered by an AI that didn't want to use it's brakes into the final hairpin, from there on ran 1:03's passing the 2J at the end of lap 4. I noticed that if you're going side by side with the AI into a long braking zone, just let them go, the idiots will brake about 50m too late and run up a half a millions worth of repair damages by acquainting themselves with one of the walls.

How on Earth do you manage to make this *!§@#§°¬|¢´~]}+]{ Auto Union turn

Strange.... I have raced every single car eligible for this seasonal and have not had the 2J or Toyota 7 finish worse than 3rd, and that is based on probably 70+ races.

Then again... When you race the 444 PP, Honda S800 RSC '68 in this seasonal, EVERY car other than the Giulia TZ2 could wreck multiple times and I wouldn't know it, because they would still crush and possibly lap the Honda S800 RSC!

You just said, and shown proof, otherwise. :odd: Anyways, so far I have made over 30 million off of this Seasonal, so you can do the math and see how many times I've raced this event. I have seen some pretty hilarious things happen in my time here in this event.

CORRECTION: Other than the one time I posted about. Happy now? :ouch:

Cut me a little slack. I can't think because I just got home after having a rib dinner and 9 cherry bombs trying to numb my physical pains! :ill: $50 later... I still hurt! :dunce:

Wow, no need to cop an attitude. You just had me confused with your conflicting posts, that's all. Chill. :)

No attitude here. I figured you could comprehend what I was saying instead of nitpicking. My bad. Come to think of it... I have never had the dominant rabbit finish as low as 6th in any of the thousands of seasonal events I have run, without me wrecking them.

Does anyone have a decent tune for the Auto Union that can win? Really don't want to spend much to win this.

Thanks!

I wasn't nitpicking, as I said, I was genuinely confused by your post, that is all. First you say one thing, which I agreed with because I had it happen myself. Then you come back with a "strange", saying you never had it happen that way with you. Its got nothing to do with my comprehension skills and everything to do with your posting.

Finished it with a 2J since the only other historic race car I have that would quali for this is the Camaro and that didn't have enough oomph.

Doing this with my XJ13. God, I love this car.

So far doing mid-1:06s, good enough for 3rd place. Going to need to do 1:05 consistently before winning, I guess.

Being a huge GT40 fanboy I am, I sold my XJ13 to gain an extra 6,000,000 to get the GT40 Race Car. Worst...decision...ever!!!! :banghead:

That car was absolutly amazing when I won it back during the Christmas seasonals to get it. Gonna buy a few of the expensive Ferrari's, then it's time to get every last 20 mill car in GT6.

I'm all for increased difficulty, about 3 Expert challenges ago I had a blast trying to beat the race on Nurburgring Nordschleife, took about 4 or 5 tries. No, I know I'm not great but races like this are just ridiculous and should be in a different class like Drifting or Time Trials, call them Rabbit chases or something. I saw the XJ13, 330 P4 and Auto Union as typical opponents, even though I kinda figured that the Toyota 7 was gonna be in there. But with a 600pp limit? Yes, I see the screen shots of you guys that beat the 7 by 10 to 12 seconds but you are in a vast minority. I've already given up on trying the Drifting, and don't really care for time trials so please don't start making the only fun thing left in GT6 for me impossible to finish, best I could do on the last one was silver but I was hoping that would be a once in a while thing, not a step in an escalation. I even tried using the Toy 7 and did a little better but not a podium. Jeez.

I suspect you'll get there. Practice, practice, practice.

Enjoyed doing this with the Ferrari and driving with manual transmission too, which is something I rarely do. :D

Took the lead from the 7 around the outside exiting the hairpin into mid park tunnel on the 5th lap, no crashing out anywhere from the AI either... BL = 1:04.2xx

Because I know I'll never get another chance to say this to you, and I know that you'll immediately go faster whenever you feel like another attempt, I'm going to say "haha!" now. Oh, right ... you don't normally drive manual. Crap :(

;)

I caught the 2J on the start of the fourth lap. I've run this event ten or so times in five or six lineups and this is the easiest lineup I've had so far. All the rest have had the Toyota 7 and the 2J in them, and the lead has finished in 6:50 +or- 0:01.

By the time I got the Toyota 7 under the 600pp mark, it had lost most of its power. The easiest way to win this event is with the 2J. I mean ... this is no secret, so I assume you know this already, but have you tried this event in that car? Have you tried it with SRF on?

It only took 3 tries with the Jaguar, a Praiano tune, and an idiot in the rabbit for me:

  • Try 1 with the stock Jaguar was an unmitigated disaster as I couldn't catch the Chapparal 2J rabbit or the other LeMans cars in the field.
  • Try 2 with an auto-tuned transmission (186 mph if memory serves) got me to within 4 seconds of the Toyota 7 rabbit.
  • Try 3 with the Praiano tune (but the transmission auto-set to 193), plus multiple crashes for the 7 rabbit (including one in turn 1 on lap 2 that knocked him down from his pole position to 9th) got me an easy win. In fact, I was so shocked that I really backed off and made mistakes of my own, getting only 1 lap under 1'07.

This is a great seasonal, it got my adrenalin flowing like the LeMans event from a few months back. Finally beat it with the 2j. Good event to try all the 20mill cars but for my skills I would only be able to win it with the chaparral.
