Finally cleared this event with the Nissan R390 GT1 road car. Was able to draft the leader, topping out around 320km/h and passed him at the S-curves prior to the finish line. Finished with a lap time of 7:13.250.
Also finished this event with a Ferrari 458 Italia. Lovely and stable car with plenty of grip on this track. Squeaked out a win of 0.006s over the leader for a photo finish. Ended up with a lap time of 7:11.874. Sadly, wasn't awarded the first place prize money though...

Somewhat related: find that the MR-type cars are very stable and perform very well on Nurburgring...

man im amazed you're like 15+ seconds faster then i

Finally won it with Stotty's 12C tune(with a slow AI lineup, LP640-4 was the rabbit), the 12C is extremely fast and stable, I was able to past the Lambo just before the straight. 7:06.495. Cheers.

Loving this event!

Tried first with the GT-R Black Edition as @GTP_CargoRatt suggested and manged to barely squeak out a win.

Then tried the Ferrari California (thanks @Lewis_Hamilton_ ), and he's right. The grip is fantastic, but it has less power so I was still barely winning with 7:10.xx

Finally ended up with the McLaren MP4-12C as @Stotty and others suggested, and loved it! Was consistently sub 7'04.xxx. Kept trying to get under 7 minutes but best I could muster was 7'00.8xx. Consistently lose at least 2-3 seconds due to AI interference. Drives me crazy when I have no choice but to slam into a super-slow AI at the beginning of a long straight and end up losing 20-30mph.

Anyway, this event is fantastic and addicting!. I echo others' sentiments that PD should keep this event permanent. I always enjoyed in GT5 coming back to old seasonals months later and giving them another go. Don't quite understand why they took this away in GT6.

Anyway, at least there are a few more days to search for that elusive 6'59.xxx lap :)

@skeagracing: nice video and win with the Ford GT40 Mk. 1! I'll have a go at this event with that car (hopefully after I can complete it in first with the Mercedes SLS AMG '10)...

@Hellsoul0 : a win is still a win! I find that the cars giving me troubles in this event are the Zonda, Corvette and ZZII. I'll still do my best despite my match-up with them (even though I place 2nd, with about 4 - 5 seconds time difference). Tough competition always makes me want to try harder and push limits, even though I'm a mediocre driver. That way I can improve, especially on this fun track and event...

Just curious: have you tried the McLaren MP4? That car is excellent on this track. I'm certain you can win handily and set a personal best with that car.

Yeah I won with the mp4 with fords and special in the lead

that thing is like 10x harder than vettel challenge was in GT5... try with a R35 , 430 Scuderia , NSX-R .. always get less than 7minutes 6.50 typically and finished 2nd each time... that Ford GT always manage to keep 10-15s between us from karoussel to the finish line ... look like as soon i reach the 3rd place he accelerate , amazing ! I bet i need to get the right starting grid cars and will have an easy win with 10sec advance ... A pure GranTurismo AI like i hate

Really? Sub 7 minute laps with a GT-R and you keep losing? I don't remember exactly, but I think the best time I posted with my GT-R Black Edition was like 7:05.xxx and my win was by a few seconds...I used that car several times, against different groups of competitors and would get victories with even 7:11.xxx laps, although I would usually have one AI driver on my bumper... That is shocking to hear! I've watched a few videos that people have posted in this thread of sub-7 minute laps and they usually win with BIG leads. That's some bad luck man... :grumpy:

@skeagracing Great lap! Always a pleasure watching your videos. Keep them coming... 👍 I really enjoy watching people who race with cockpit view. I am so much slower with cockpit view, but if you've got a detailed interior, it just looks so much cooler than bumper camera view. Be honest, how tight did your cheeks clench when you went on the grass to pass the 2nd car of the race? I frequently have to put two wheels on the grass there because the AI drives like a douche and I even had to put all four tires once because he bumped me! I was clenching like crazy, just praying to avoid a spinout. Oh, and how about your two wheels on grass when you were trying to take the lead, on the final downhill? I know you must have clenched up there... :D So close to the finish line and Mr. Lambo might put ya into a 170mph spin on the grass? I know the feeling...been there several times.

I've been a bit busy lately. :sly:

All were done with ABS 1 and no more than 3 attempts each. I have about 20 more cars that I have used in which I will post the winning times for later on today. Sorry about the size of the pics :embarrassed:, I thought I resized them smaller than this but I guess I didn't. :dunce: Having a bit of fun for once trying all the different cars for this event. Stay fast everyone.

Very nice job everyone with the low power cars.

After succeeding myself with the Peugeot 205, I had a go with Renault Sport Clio R.S. 2.0 16V '02. Nice car to drive but I just can't get it to win. Best result 2nd position with +0.9 seconds from leading AI. Think I'm done with this for now.

No Aids. Tune By Mr. P. P1-Lamborghini Murcielago P2-TommyKaira ZZ11. P3-Ford GT 05. Ford GT40 Mark 1 Pass For The Win At Tiergarten. Cockpit View.

Just watched your video here and I must say, its a good thing the game doesn't have engine damage, otherwise you would have done blown that thing up the way you have it bouncing off the rev limiter on your downshifts. Nice bit of driving though in cockpit view. 👍

Two finishes in a Range Rover Evoque (around 540pp) netted third and second behind an Aston One-77. In the second race I was really close at the Mini Karussell, but finished around 3seconds behind. I love the barrelling around the Nordscheife in the Range Rover, but it's not going to win me this race , it's better at 500pp in any case.

Doubt I'm going to get another attempt to play this, which is a shame as I like the paint chip :dopey:.

I did a few more before it all ends the week :(.

My 1 lap impressions, all done with abs 1 only and basic setup.

The Z28 is really good and stable a good setup would be a blast here.
The GNX is the epitome of "slow is fast" driving, the more you push it the worse it handles. Doesn't turn well mid corner and doesn't stop well either. Doesn't fit my style of driving at all, lol.
The HSR is boring, can't really slide it with the flip up wing thing in the back.
The NSX is almost spin proof even with the downforce taking to the lowest number, only 183mph on the straight slows to lap though.
The TTS did a crazy roll over nose first when coming off the early jump, only one that needed a restart, lol. I'll have to post a video of the crash really surprised me. Otherwise it is ok, just has to much under steer.
The Quattro is big and heavy but turns very well and is really fast, going to do more laps with this one when I finish a few more cars.
The 3400s is just about perfect, love the little car.
The Golf is a little Scirocco with traction and that means it's a blast to drive.
The CTS-V is better than the lap time shows, the Reventon did a brake check swerve move and I lost a few seconds as I bounced off a few walls. It turns well for its size and just needs a good setup to be really fun, one of the few cars that I want to work on getting right.

I tried the Nardò again in a quick session yesterday, i improved but still in 6:38s (6:38.002)

The long wait on restarts is ruining all the fun i can have unfortunatly

Just curious: have you tried the McLaren MP4? That car is excellent on this track. I'm certain you can win handily and set a personal best with that car.

Worked for me. Although "handily" might be a stretch of optimism the way I drive! "By a whisker" is more like it.

That car's rear-spoiler-assisted braking makes a big difference to both braking distance and straight line stability under braking.

Braking can be left very late and applied very hard when compared with most other cars.

Why do they make the seasonal beginning wait time so damn long? Just because they can?
To keep the AIs with their head start from having unusually short lap times. If they just started them further ahead on the track than you but at the same time, their lap times would be shorter than they ought to be. (Isn't that what they did in GT5?)

Given how often they use this "AI gets a head start" nonsense, you'd think they'd just program around it—the AIs get their head start but their clock is already running proportionally ahead. They'd know by how much, too, since they created the event and can presumably run whole laps without any human drivers.

During this race I knew that with the fastest lineup it was going to be one hell of a race. I raced for 32 years in the SCCA so nothing has changed in GT6 every start get's my heart pounding, my hands sweaty and my mind racing. I can tell you that for the first 3 to 4 minutes I did no even breath until I realized that just maybe I had a shot (sector times) so the same thing that would happen to me in real life happened "my left foot would start shaking uncontrollably" and that is when I realized that I needed to get my breathing under control. The couple of trip in the grass were then and always be down right frightening even in GT6 that is the incredible beauty that is GT6 and what it bring to the table if you drive as if at every corner, every attempted pass your life and your car are in danger you will get the most incredible rush. Yes I love GT6 and "all the great people" on this forum that make this game what it is today, one incredible "RUSH"! The more respect you have, the more realistic, the more serious you are, about the passion of racing as if your life is in eminent danger the more satisfaction you will get from GT6. As far as the cockpit that is the only way I can race because that is all I know. Thank you for your compliments as I read your post with great interests as well as all the comments on this forum. There is a wealth on knowledgeable people on this forum and I treat all their wisdom with great respect! Thank you!!

MB is my sponsor now so good luck with the SLS as I will also give it a shot. They want me to win with the SLS but mine is not ready to race and needs a lot of work. If you win please let me know how you did it as I will be rooting for you all the way to the ""checkered flag""!!

Never had a blown motor bouncing off the rev limiter as that what they are there for. At the track I bounce my rev limiter all the time as it is the safety net on my race car to keep from blowing up the motor. Cockpit is all I know. I learn a lot from you and have been reading all your post with great respect for what you bring to the table!! I am humbled by your comments about my driving. Thank you!

Never missed a shift? My buddy in my Honda did going from 2 to 1, missing 3 and bounced it off the limiter for too long.
