Ugh. Haven't gotten better than 10th place in this event yet after 5 tries. I just don't have the finesse or skill to drive Race cars. I'll keep at it. I've tried with the 787B and the R18 Anniversary. I don't have many other "race" cars in my garage because I don't like them.

Ah, 787B is very fast but somewhat twitchy, so you got to be precise and consistent to go through the race. And, its low down torque and turbo lag is bad in the slow corners, only 3, though.

And the R18 is both slow and slippery, I don't like it. Peugeot 908 HDi is much better overall.

So you happened to get bad examples.

If you like the cars in the era of 787B, try Nissan R92CP. It's more stable (and its V8 sounds nice).

Have some practice in freerun would be a good idea. Making 2:02-2:04 in freerun, then you'll be good in the race.

Won with a 659PP BMW McLaren F1 GTR. Overtook the leading Pescarolo C60 in the last lap when he took a trip to the sand. Then at the bus stop chicane, that fool rammed my back at full speed. Luckily I recovered just in time and he didn't.

👍 Good for you.

I don't have that car. I just tried Zonda R in freerun but couldn't get a good enough lap time, so I didn't take it to the race. Maybe I'll practice more on that. And Ford GT LM II, too.

You can win with the 787B. You will have to practice a bit. I used PRAIANO'S 787B STEALTH TUNE WITH zero camber and I practiced in the race.

Yes and although the 787B is a good car I've found that the 905B can get my times down a couple of more seconds and is a little less twitchy with race hards. I've seen 2:00 and a bit below with the 905B using Praiano's camberless tune. One of the ways to get your times down is to hit the turn 2 hill corners doing about 190 mph with max downforce and achieve over 210 mph by the end of the straight after the hill. You can pass most cars in this area. The faster you go, the less chance of getting hit!?!?!?

Amongst the best.
I tried most of my race cars in this event.
As long as you keep on eye on AI, wherever they are, be it in front, behind or next to you, you"re good for a win.
AI don't have a clue what they are doing :mischievous:

Seems I got to buy C60. I have a very good impression of it in previous GTs.

How do you feel about Deltawing?

I like it the best in the feels of cornering. Very smooth in slow corners and so planted in the fast. I guess it got the strongest downforce among all LM race cars.

Low power and slow in the straight, though. Enjoyable as it is, my win with it was a close call. (and its sound is a let down, pity)

905B is one of my favorite in GT5. I haven't bought it yet in GT6.

I remember it's very light and nimble, but not too nervous. You can thrash it very hard and it just takes it all. Seems it's still going strong in GT6. 👍

I had a win in 787B, too. And it's an exiting race -- it kept me nervous and focused. Its screaming helped some, I guess. LOL.

Spa is one of my favorite, too, so I'm very familiar with it. Maybe this is why I got much less trouble with AIs than in the previous Suzuka event.

Also, I'm glad there's no penalty in cutting Eau Rouge / Raidillon. :D

Here is another anomaly in this race. (OK, perhaps this whole race is an anomaly!)

I've been studying the AI on the lap charts in the replays. Here you can see all the race car's lap times as the race progresses. On most of the laps, the AI will run 2:15s or a bit less. When you get past most of them, the top 4 or 5 cars suddenly start running 2:04s !?!?! Some random cars in the back rows will post the odd 2:01!!! Yikes. If the AI can do this, are they just toying with us??? And how come after the lead car gets passed, he is suddenly posting similar times to your own??? Before that he is plodding along at 2:14. It's all very mysterious, but entertaining, and a lot more fun than the old conga line from GT-5. I try to minimize being rear-ended with the subsequent (ridiculous) penalties by driving defensively from the rear, if that makes any sense. Avoiding the situation is the best defense against rear-ending I think, not to mention going like hell and getting too far ahead to get rear-ended.

It's easy to get upset when a car zips right through the chicane after the long straight, (with NO penalty) but when you witness all the ridiculous antics of the AI throughout the 5 laps, it's just a matter of time before they self destruct in some other way. So, don't sweat the small stuff.

At least there are no penalties for us humans going off into the grass and the occasional minor cuts like in other online races. For me those ridiculous penalties take all the joy of racing out of the game, so this race is FUN!

Drive on and be happy,
Mustangxr

I hadn't seen one until I GOT BEHIND ONE IN THE A SPEC. On every corner the inside wheel came off the ground like a sailboat tacking into the wind.??? If you put a wing on it it would make a good airplane! If you put a mast on it, it would make a good land yacht! If you put a long heavy chain on it, it would make a good anchor! Maybe it's one of those Harley Davidson trike conversions with a fairing on it?? Sorry if I have hurt your feelings. I don't know of any trike cars that have been successful.

It's just the way PD make a race of it. Remember you start way out the back of beyond - if the rabbit is going as fast as you from the start you'd soon get narked . Hopefully with this 'progress', they will soon master the art of a grid start ...

Yes, the 787B is my favourite race car. I love it at Indy too, but most of all on the Nordschliefe. One of the endearing traits is the incredibly wide RPM band that allows less shifting and yes, the scream helps a lot!

Yes, that would be a very good change, with qualifying runs for the pole position too!

The C60 is a great car, fast, easy and forgiving.

Maybe the Deltawing is good too, but personally I do not like it. Drove it on the Nürburgring for a few laps, but could not get really used to it. Both Deltawings are in my stockyard now

After running this event in multiple cars the math is easy.
Closer you are to turning 2 min laps, the faster you'll catch lead rodent...
...and that = more time for lower risk AI passing.

2:01/2:02s will reel in the rabbit by, or on L3.
2:05s north means you'll have to work hard, & higher risk getting by AI.

Just drive like you're a bicycle messenger in NY or Chicago...
...imagine the AI are hulking SUVs and you're on your bike...
...and you will be fine with the AI. :sly:

Of the cars I have run so far, the following are the ticket if its a challenge:
C60 Pescarolo '05, Audi R8 '01, Minolta Toyota, Sauber Merc.

There are many others too, just haven't run them yet.
No TH8 RS at the moment, so I haven't yet tried 787B, and Silk Jag.

On a side note, I actually find the AI more of a nuisance on the Apricot Hill TT.

Jogo,
Are you running camber in your cars or camberless??
Talk later, got a visitor.

No camber, the cars I listed were all tuned using @praiano63's tunes with no camber.
I haven't updated the tunes on those cars with any changes he may have made post v.1.09.
Haven't had time to run cars with no tuning for comparison, will do that this weekend.

---------------------------------------
I use a wheel, no power assist, no aids, 0 ABS.

My only car that's even close to the competition is the TS03. Couldn't get past 5th place with a mild tune. AI messed me up when the two that were battling in front of me caused a 3-car accident, me included. lol
I'll try it again another day.

OK, me too. So far, I've used the 787B, 905B, and 88C-V, all Praiano tuned. I use a wheel also with only ABS-1, all other aids off. So far I have pulled 1:59 with the 905B and 88C-V. I think there are a couple more seconds if I could figure out how to hook up the rear tires coming out of the last chicane before the finish. What do you mean by no power assist?? What is that and where do you get it?
Cheers, Mustangxr

I use a T500 wheel, one of the options in GT6 settings for the wheel is Power Assist Steering.
Not to be confused with the Sim/Pro/Am settings for the DFGT found in same menu.

Aside the ramming that I've encountered once, i find this to be easy.

I'm sure fully upped budget race cars (Corvette ZR-1 LM Race Car and the R35 Touring Car) can win this easy if i can win with doing 2:02s with a fully upped Ford GT Spec II.

Also, i tried using the Monster SX4, and it's still an easy win, while i have to go use a proper road tune for the car and all. Constant 2:04s.

OK, Thanks for that explanation. I'm running a G-27 so don't know about Thrustmaster stuff.

Ran a Stock Bentley Speed 8 (Always feels like it runs out of revs so is a slight faff to drive.)

Car was feisty out of and in most corners, back end not exactly planted - Pouhon was always fun!

The Ai had an off day, I'd like to think my BRG car scared the Peugeot off the track at Stavelot - He recovered me and tracked me along through Blanchimont and then fired passed me at the final chicane... bounced off the barriers on the left - I was minding my own business, turning for the last corner to get the final straight and this French lump rolls across the track, I managed to swerve to avoid what would have been a race ending impact for my car.

Fun - but I would have been grumpy bear if that Pug had skewered me off the track on the last few corners.

Ai were mostly interesting - but you notice the crazy biting hooligan much more.

Wow so easy, I managed to win with a variation of Praiano's Peugou HDi FaP car, even using the base model and even with 2 penalties. Then again the AI is stupid here..

I haven't tried this race yet (thinking about using the Deltawing for the first time), but I'm wondering why the 2j is not being mentioned. I haven't used it in GT6 either, but in GT5 it was a monster.

Yea, these Seasonals are a complete and utter joke as far as I'm concerned.

1) AI ramming you like they're trying to drive right through you
2) Sudden speed bursts
3) Short cutting the track and not being penalized
4) Wandering all over the track
5) Slowing down to let you catch up
6) Still a chase the rabbit style race
7) Starting at the back of the pack, sometimes up to 30 seconds back

I used to enjoy these in GT5 and even grinded a few of them, but there is no way I'm doing that now, just a completely unenjoyable experience. Gold and done. These AI are hardly improved, I don't care what anybody says.
GT5 online seasonal races were a lot of fun but some how PD lost their way with it in GT6.

It's possible to win this race with the deltawing because I almost won this race with the ts030 but if you see a Minolta on the leaderboard, then you might have a hard time winning because that car accelerate very quickly.

I'm in doubt ... are we racing against AI or against the B-SPec level ZERO :confused:??

May be a new funny version for ongoing LICENCE CONES masked by CAR :eek:

"The BSpec is among us .. already  .. "

IR

Exaggerating a bit maybe? B-spec level 10 was this kind of driving, overshooting corners, hitting each other and making the best times. So, not B-spec lvl 0 for sure. Maybe lvl 11-12... ;)

If AI goes so fast when being passed, PD must make these races stanidng start and going full fast from the beginning. That would be the best A-spec in GT history. No problem with some AI if crasy driving from my side instead of what I saw in GT5.

This race is giving me a fit. I can always finish 3rd but nothing better. I am going to try the 2J (any tunes would be appreciated) and see what happens. So far I have used the 908 HDi, the R92CP, the Mercedes C9 all consistent 3rd place.

What I would like to know what color the paint chip is. So for all of you that have golded this beast please tell me the color or a car picture with the car painted in that color. Also what car you used and the type of driving rig you used. I am using a DFGT wheel. I've already taken 10 attempts so far. Thank you in advance.
