First time out, I took a basically stock Sauber-Mercedes C9 (just LSD and downforce tweaked) and got annihilated:

Got spun around on lap 4 and that didn't help, but the tune was garbage.

Then I got my Toyota MINOLTA and, wow, what a difference:

A 22.793 second improvement (average of 4.5586 sec/lap) on my first go 'round. It'll be doable with that car.

I'm using whatever tune I got for the Sierra Time Trial. @shaunm80's? @praiano63's? I don't know.

Anyway, I'll take another crack at it tomorrow or whatever and I'm sure I'll have it. (We've got plenty of time with events now! :( )

In the meantime, I'm going to play Diablo III with my wife. :)

Finally managed a bronze with the LM55. @Otaliema tune works great I just need to get used to driving the car. I did manage 2 1:47 lap times. I'm sure a win is coming with this tune. Heck I've got almost a month to run this one. I did get a few 5 sec. ramming penalties though or I might have gotten a Silver. I don't really want the prize car though but I will keep at it until I get the win.

Finally won this with the LM55 by .8 seconds. I used one of the tunes in this thread. Have pretty much given up on GT6. I log in every day, but haven't raced since last week. Picked up Borderlands TPS again. Maybe I'll get back into GT when PD cures its HUA Syndrome.

So far, I have won this with the Audi R8, Mazda 787B Stealth Model and the Peugeot 905B. All with Praiano tunes. So much fun!

Edit:
Managed to get 5th place in the Nissan GT-R Concept LM Race Car. Not bad.

With Mazda LM55. I could manage 1:47s then tried Otaliema's tune and it worked well. I was easily able to lap in 1:44:1xx
Will try a different tune but need to spend some credits, got a pop up for max credits :P

This is a tough one for me. I used Mazda LM55 stock settings and running 1:47-1:49 lap times (no cutting corner) but can't win. I consistently got 3rd place. Any tips?

I have playing around with the Escudo Pikes Peak.
What got me 1st place was simply adding the high RPM turbo and 42 kg to the front. I was driving 1:47 consistently.

Thanks for the tip @hall90, I'll give it a try next time.

I tried this tune @hall90 but I couldn't get gear #2 matched and I could only get a high as 5th place. Too often the computer was blocking me and I never could seem to catch the computer on the back straight but once I passed they couldn't keep up. My Best time was a 1:49.

I tried my C60 and I was able to get as high as 3rd place. I was able to be as quick as 1:47-8.

The 2nd gear should be set at 3.710 or 3.810, very sorry about this and I will get @Otaliema to check this out.

I'm sort of disappointed in the fight of the AI on this one compared to the other Expert events. I used my trusty Toyota Minolta (abs only) to win by a huge margin.

I used to love the LM55 but I don't know what changed (car or my tune) but even with pulling a 1:50 lap I can only get as close as 5th 23-25 seconds behind the leader. But, when I use my C60 and I'm doing 1:49-1:50 lap times I can get as high as 3rd and I'm between 8 and 13 seconds behind the leader. *SIGH*

I wish I could help you more (I know nothing about the car you are using only the ones that I have won with, Sauber C9, Audi R18, Audi 8, Audi 10, V12 BMW but all I can say is that the transmission gears for this seasonal are "mission critical" and that you should be bouncing of the rev limiter at all and most important the longest straightaway. You can also draft the other race cars so again that will part of the best transmission settings.

My LM55 doesn't under/oversteer... in fact it's right what i need it to be: very fast on corners. I believe i only adjusted the toe angle, but it don't remember if i done something else. The overall time was something like 1:44 per lap, a fas lap being 1:42 low (no cutting through the track). In fact it's the funniest car i have to drive in this seasonal.

If anyone has problems here i suggest the Chaparral 2X... adjusting only the toe angle (for some oversteer) i was able to get 1:40:124. The secret is braking a lot in corners then making the corner full throttle; this car turns A LOT better when you're hitting the gas, strangely enough. And this car speed is so damn high that no car will be able to keep up in straights.

They can't please everybody. The previous events were really hard and could only be won with a few cars. This one is easier, so you have more cars to try. The Pescarolo, Minolta and LM55 used to be the only cars capable of winning, so they might be overkill on the easier events.
It's really simple: If your car is too fast for an event, try a slower one.

@Delphion thank you for the valid suggestions but I'm not criticizing the event for being too easy (and I'm certainly not boasting because I am by not a fast driver).

I found it unusual (especially in an expert level race) for the lead AI car not to increase its pace as I closed in on it or after I passed it. Its been my experience that even in the beginner and intermediate level races you get some level of "banding" based on the your lap times. The active AI is what makes for good racing when using a variety of cars that differ in performance.

I certainly could have worded my post better (and left out the part about being disappointed) but its main purpose was to see if others had similar races. Seems likely that my experience was isolated, maybe the lead AI went off course shortly after I passed it and I did not know it.

@RuddRacer
I have not seen any banding or acceleration by the other race cars as you attempt to pass or after. But “you are correct” that this is one of the first times that I have seen this in a seasonal.

Thanks for the tips @skeagracing. I tried my trusty 787B Stealth and in 4 races I was only able to get to 3rd. During one race i was able to take the lead on the 2nd last lap from 3rd but I was overzealous and over shot the corner to pass and had to take the grass and ended up 3rd. Upon exiting I was going to see if there was another tune to try when I noticed that I was running with the mid-turbo (913HP) instead of the high-turbo (986HP). DOH! :) I ran a quick time lap and with the mid-turbo I able to drop my lap time from 1:48 to 1:46. This might be the edge that I need. :)

Agreed, this is the first time that I haven't seen cars getting a turbo boost after passing or a turbo boost if you touch them from behind. Too often, if you touch the car in front it all of a sudden has Nitro and jumps 3-5 seconds ahead of you. Too often in these expert races I've had to pass the same cars multiple times because of this.

Bentley Speed 8. Cockpit race. No aids. Tune by me. Fast Lap 1:44.530. Pass for the win on lap 5 at National Pits Straight. Winning margin 3.440.
