Yeah, but isn't iRacing for computers?

Yeah, but if you're talking about a serious eSport hardware doesn't matter. The professionals will move to whatever hardware is necessary, be that PS4, Xbox or PC.

Being an eSport puts them pretty squarely up against iRacing, at least for that particular portion of the game. It's the only real competitor in the space (although pCARS has been having a bit of a go too), and for all it's flaws iRacing is pretty incredible at what it does.

Serious sim racers go where the action is, regardless of platform. I see some of the same names at the top of leaderboards in various games. If there is money and/or prestige involved, you can bet many of the top sim racers will be involved in GTS.

Why so much hate for the standard cars. I know theres a difference in graphic quality, but I don't care about watching replays or photomode. I like driving. And sometimes I just wanna drive an 89 galant VR4. I'd rather drive street cars then crazy racecars. Vision GT project annoys the crap out of me. I'm really dissappointed... Guess I'm gonna dig my PS3 back out... I've been playing Assetto Corsa just waiting for GT Sport. I'll buy it, but I'm bummed.

I've been hearing nothing but good things about iRacing over the years, and the opposite for Gran Turismo.

With this in mind PD has their work cut out for them. Yet it seems like they know this, and are focused on making a great game, rather than just throw big numbers at us.

I doubt their physics will be on par with iRacing, but I can note that in one of the news articles there was a comparison between the Renault's handling in GTS, and PCARS, concluding that GTS was on at with PCARS, which tells me it has improved well.

The problem is not the number. 140 is a very good number: Driveclub has 114 (with DLCs), Project Cars about 100 (with DLCs), Assetto Corsa about 100, Need For Speed 60 (with Bonus).

The problem is that they are repeting a lot of cars.

Honestly I don't care very much for gigantic car counts. It's like devs (mostly pd, turn 10) nowadays are trying to compare virtual *expletive* sizes. I'm perfectly fine running with 100-150 cars.

In GT6, I might have touched 300 cars out of the "full 1200", but I only ended up using 50-60 of them more than once. In Project Cars, a game people sometimes condemn for its tiny roster, I haven't even touched half of the cars yet. I've also owned that game since December, so I've had plenty of time to play around with all of them.

Less cars = Less baggage

According to Polyphony, Gran Turismo Sport will feature 19 locations and 27 track layouts for you to drive, along with 137 Super Premium cars that are a mixture of real-world and virtual fantasy cars spread across various groups. All vehicles from Gran Turismo 6 will be included as well - all with interior views.

Why all the complaining, isn't that quite a lot of cars?

As long as cars are balanced, I don't mind having around 100 cars. If actual gameplay quality is on high level, you don't need many cars to enjoy playing either.

If the cars are all different models 137 cars is a Great amount...
With the livery editor finally PD left that terrible thing of considering two cars different models only according to the livery...

Assetto Corsa has about 100 cars and there is mods out of there For about 50 cars more (considering the true mods and not badly done illegal ripoffs)... Out of this 150 cars i usually race with two dozen of them and a couple of cars i still have to try...

We already know there is duplication and that manufacturers have multiple models based on the same car. BMW M4, Alfa Romeo 4C, Ford Focus, Ford Mustang and many other manufacturers all fall into that category.

In most of games (Pcars AC and so on) the road version and race version of a car are separate things (Like BMW Z4 and BMW Z4 GT3)...
This is not the problem... The problem would be if the BMW Z4 still had liveries counting Like different cars...

Difference here is that most games only have a handful of matching race and street cars. In GTSport, so far anyway, the duplication of road + track car models is fairly significant. Nearly 40% of the list represents that kind of duplication. Don't think any other game comes close to that.

There's lots of nascar cars, to add to the 140. 140 cars, all consisting of NASCAR and super cars? The only reason I play GT6 really is street cars, I don't like to drive faster cars. also, the website says 140 cars is the complete number. Very disappointing in my opinion.

PD is bored.
I prefer to see a completed game with most of the cars that existing like forza than a prologue with few cars and VR

I'm expecting GTS to have a lot of dupes, or at least variants of the same basic car.

We know VGT have original and Gr version.

We know some cars have Group N (stock) and race versions.

We know there's also Group B cars based on stock versions.

Based on previous history, different liveries are counted as different cars.

Now that we get livery editor, what are the odds of every race car having a Base Model version and counted separately?

We also know there are already several different versions of ND Miata and Evo X.

140 is not a number with a lot of leeway. I think people are going to be quite disappointed with the car list on release.

What if... we have already seen every car in the game but each one is counted by livery and class. Oh god...

To be honest one of the biggest concerns I have in the car list is with the age of the race cars. Not enough up-to-date models so far.

2010 Peugeot 908 (Only one newer 2011 car since they pulled out, but still)
2011 Audi R18 (Seriously outdated, completely different car today)
2011 BMW Z4 GT3 (It evolved quite a bit since then and is now replaced by the M6)
2011 SLS AMG (We've got the AMG GT now, where is it?)
2012 V12 Vantage (4 years old)
2012 Toyota TS030 (Same as the R18, very outdated and not much like the TS050)
2013 GT-R (I'm not sure how much this has changed in 3 years but presumably it has somewhat)
2013 458 GT3 (Great to finally have a GT3 Ferrari but why an old one? The 488 GT3 is here now)

Then we do have the 2015 R8 LMS, 650S and R.S. 01. Three up to date real world race cars, 8 old ones.

In the grand scheme of time they're not exactly ancient but the motorsport world moves fast and in particular LMP cars are very different today. The newer models could yet to be seen but it would seem odd to show off the old stuff first.

That's a PD standard(no pun intended).

Or, what if we've seen every car in the game and the other half of the list is the same cars but painted white and called a "base model" to be used for creating liveries?

I have so many questions to ask. I hope we don't have a duplicate frenzy like GT6 and its Miata list. I'll just find out when it gets here. (Please don't do it PD.)
