anyway im a bit desapointed by the graphics.... screenshot and sony videos made us expect more...

if the demo can be modified... i thought it may be possible to get the three other tracks shown in replays... as we were able to play the to hidden tracks in gt4p...
but i cant do this....

i still hope the graphics arent final version... (people on the side of the road is still not animated...)

ps george 5 is look good... not the same for trial montain and the snow track( in the replay..

Almost all of the screenshots released are from the photmode or photo-driveby mode afaik. That's why they look so crisp. I'd say in-game it definately looks better than GT3, but only a little better than Prologue ( which isn't a bad thing as Prologue looked good ). Still some popup here and there and the reflections in the tunnels don't look as nice as they did in GT3 for some reason. But I suppose this is a fairly old demo now, so these things could easily have changed for the release version.

They are animated. When you watch the replay on the snow track, you can see stewards walking around behind the spectators ( who are also animated, if only a little bit ).

The handling of the cars though feels much, much better than GT3 or Prologue, especially when the driver aids are turned off and you're not using arcade tyres. Closest thing in GT3 is when using simulation tyres. You have to brake much sooner. The slightest error on most parts of 'the Ring' when above 60-100mph results in you flying off the track. Just wish I had a DFP now....

Only thing I'd like to see improved is a little more rumble from the PS2 pad when driving. Iirc in GT2 , when using fairly high powered cars, you'd get a constant faint rumble all the time which gave it an overall better 'feel'. Feels odd when the pad stops rumbling, creating a kind of 'detached' feeling between the car and the road ( no road is 100% flat and smooth, there is always imperfections )

Thats because pics you have seen have all been high res Photo mode jobs from Sony/PD, the in game was never ever going to look as good, some of us have been telling you this for ages.
Despite that owning GT4p and having had the BMWdemo for a brief time, I can say that in reality on a descent set-up, the graphics are still sharp and look far better than anything else on PS2.

I would imagine that that is the Final graphics engine, it was upgraded from GT3 in prologue and since then it was upgraded again by the time the BMW demo surfaced, at that late stage you would have to assume they were not going to re write the graphics engine again they may add a few extra details to the tracks but dont expect much else.

Not all people will be animated, and not all people will be 3D, cardboard cut outs will still feature, intermixed.
In the Snow video and the driver animation video posted here, you can see spectators ARE moving.

EDIT: MOODYB beat me to it :)

Thanks for the videos so far!!!!!!!!! Everybody that has the demo please post some!!!! (videos/pictures/sounds) share with us poor people w/out dvd burner or ps2 unlocked or "Prologue" or BMW demo....etc...

Thank you soooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what do you think? :D

Everything is as it supposed to be except one little thingie.
What is wrong with that driving aids Indicator, it keeps flashing despite turning them off :indiff: . Same thing was happening with the BMW demo.

So, does it mean that aids are always on in those demos?

I noticed that too. There is a definate difference in feel though when it is set on/off. It is probably just another little quirk/unfinished thing. it is just a demo afterall.

I think it's the traction control turned on. It lits every time I slam the throttle in curves , preventing spin and "throttle-steering".

The "driving aids" that can be turned on and off are referring to the ASM which tries to keep you from spinning out. The flashing light at the bottom of the screen is the traction control which can't be turned off.

I realize that. But I assume when I check the setting "turn driver aids off" all that stuff goes off. My point was that it does go on/off, depending on the setting in "options", you can feel it in the car, esepcially the Falken GT-R...but the little icon in the game doesn't change due to the GUI not being fully refined for the demo.

ok, that makes sense. I though that it felt like the ASM robot was on or off. I never did like ASM in the GT series. TC can be used time to time, but never the ASM.

If they don't change that before the final version comes out I'll be uber-pissed.

The brakes :guilty:
Still a way too forgiving...
So maybe this flashing triangle has something to do about it...
I hope...

But still, the drive of your life for sure :)

Might want to dig through the settings for Traction Control.. On the Toyota Demo, the TCS switch was in the main options panel, the same place as "BGM on/off". Whereas the VCS or whatever they call it (ASM) was in the car options after you select your car. This demo may have the same thing.

I've found two bugs in this demo:

Remember when in GT3 you could tap quickly the reverse button (without accelerating) to engage neutral and hear aerodynamic/tire noises at high speeds (fun at test course with high powered cars)? If you do the same in this demo, with the Falken GT-R race car you can still hear the gear whine, even though the gear is disengaged. Gaining quickly speed after a full stop on a slope without accelerating, with the same car, does not bring out the gear whine.

Also, in the menu just before racing, after having selected a track (start racing, replay, exit, when you see in the background the cpu crusing the track), if you press the START button once you'll hear a confirmation noise (the same that happens when selecting options, ecc), but it won't do that twice. Really weird. Maybe it activates a hidden option?

This is not a bug, but on the Nuerburgring, you can hear a different tire rolling noise when you go over cement-like surface in the Karussell curve or the Schwalbenschwantz curve (mini-Karussell). Also, aerodynamic noises are very loud! (Try going backwards with the Falken GT-R and reach speeds over 290 km/h on the long straight)

I noticed that too, and I really like that. The Nurburgring has those different surfaces, and in this demo they really do sound different when you're driving upon them. Great! 👍

That back straight at nurburgring is SICK.

Probably the disabled buttons, "save" and "options", like the prolouge menu had.

If you look at the screen wher eyou choose the circuit go to George V and you will see there are still arrows pointing to the left and right like there are more circuits to select.

Agian it is a demo and far from perfect of refined.

i agrere, i think the brakes are indeed a tad too forgiving... specially on the low end cars.

here's the proof i got this demo working from my PS2 HDD - i don't have a DVD burner :)

tutorials for installing HDD into ur PS2 can be found on www.ps2ownz.com forums (need to register)

When you talk about your PS2 HDD do you mean you have the HD that came with FFXI and you dl'd the GT4 demo to that... or are you somehow using your computers HD to play the demo off of? :nervous:

Jedi2016
They're on Page 2, I think, Cobra. I know they're in here somewhere, I have sound clips of all the cars I downloaded from this thread.
I meant the sounds of the different tire sounds on the nurb.
