I'm a mac guy, but knew I had a reason to run windoze XP via Virtual PC. As painful as windoze is to use I gotta say the CDmage/AXE route worked like a charm, burned the new ISO back on the mac side and BAM it all worked in glorious non-time limit fun.

It seems all I do in windoze is GT related stuff. The MKS editor for GT3, x-port for OLR and now disc imaging! At least windoze has one use.

Now I can get down to the serious work of learning the 'Ring.

Did anyone notice how bumpy the backside of the 'Ring is? Oh I couldn't be happier. If only I had a RUF it would be perfect and keep me fully happy until the actual release. At least I have a Skyline R34, it could be worst.

I also picked up an action replay with max drive today (to add to/replace my x-port), so I will be looking for codes to open up other cars and circuits in this demo. I remember Prolouge had them, I'll assume they will pop up for this too.

I had a good race in the RX8, I just beat the RX7 by a tenth after two laps. :D

The end of the race. (poor quality but viewable, no sound - 2mb)

I don't know about trying to block, but I'd say it actually knew you were there, which is a first for GT's AI. It's quite possible that the "Driving Levels" we've seen in B-Spec may be incorporated into the AI. When it detects you right behind it and gaining, it increases it's level to try to stay ahead of you (or to pass you if you're right in front of it). Reasonable considering it seemed to be driving like mad right at the end there, causing it to leave the track a couple of times.. the AI doesn't normally make that mistake.

I'd call that an improvement, if the AI actually reacts to how close you are, and changes it's driving style accordingly. Now, if they could just keep them from slamming into us, we'd be golden.

Ok, so I've got the file edited using HexEditor 1.4, but does anyone know how to create a proper iso image with free OS X programs? I don't have Toast or anything, but I do have Disk Utility. I've tried using the "make image from folder" function, but I can only get .dmg and .cdr. Will those formats work, or do I really need an .iso file?

I tried figuring it out Mac related with a Mac hex editor and the disc untility app. I can edit the correct file in the hex editor, but can't figure out how to get it back into the .ISO image with anything in OS X. Both the Disk Utility and Toast 6 will burn the ISO to DVD with no worries, but repacking the ISO in OS X I have no clue.

I highly doubt there is any native OS X app to replace what the CDmage does in windoze. But i really don't know. I think if you looked in the UNIX/LINUX world for one you might be better off. They have to have one those open source nuts.

Then again I have no clue really what I am doing with this. 2 weeks ago I had never burned a PS2 game/demo and or knew nothing about any of this stuff. The instructions that users have so wonderfully typed here and what knowledge I had of things like this prior (mostly from my old IRC days YEARS ago) have helped me through it.

(BTW - I just noticed this. Don't pasue your game and walk away, after 30 or so seconds it resets itselt to the loader screen for the given course (the one with the start, replay, exit icons), ending your previous laps.

Sven
Can someone please, please, PLEASE either a) put up an "adjusted" image file for straight up download/burn, b) translate these instructions for a Mac user or c) send me an "adjusted" copy? This is killing me.

I'm with this guy, it'd be great if someone could torrent this new version. Or even link a torrent to the old one still with the timelimit.

Did somebody know a image builder for Mac Os X....i cracked the file for time limit with AXE under pc....but i will to recompile it to a new image file under my mac. I've try with Disk Utility , make an image put the things in it.and burn it...but doesn't work...anybody have an idea?

Wan't to know how long the Nurburgring is? 12 sectors. 7:36 is my best after just a few laps but I have yet to keep from crashing when slowing down from the 180mph straightaway. Great fun and many seconds to shave off ahead! I'm guessing around a 7:20 will be possible. Flinx? Arwin?

You can go under 7´00.000.

If you are looking for torrent, to download gt4demo.iso go to the "Universal Bittorent Source"...i can't remember the URL though.....cough cough :)

Then If you need simple manual (with ready files) how to remove limit - emule is your answer :) I saw something there...cough cough :) Search for "GT4Demo"

Skyline R34 + street tires + Nurburgring = absolute heaven!

The Falken GT-R was great when trying to go farthest within the time limit, but the R34 just feels nicer to drive when doing a full lap.

:)

Mac users. If you can get the ISO, either original or time limit removed, The system disck utility or Toast 6 will burn a playable copy. I've used either to burn a DVD on my powerbook with 10.3.6.

Is it so hard to go THERE and then > SEARCH > GT4> and.....here you have it.

Yeah to burn the "ORIGINAL" image file, is okay, but to recompile it...it's another thing. After we have change the file with an Hex Editor...to rebuil the iso file...how can we do it...with disk utility it doesnt work for me....or maybe becauser the fiel cracked was bad...i will try with original file to know if it s the disk utiliy that doenst work o the file who has cracked

I myself perfer the FC, The Falken's suspension is way to stiff for that track, if u watch it from 3rd person view on the back strait it'll just hop and jump around like crazy.

I've found an app on VersionTracker that says it converts .dmg to .iso (except the generated file that comes up is .iso.cdr ...?). I'm testing how it works now...

Scroll page a page or two, I just posted about all of this today, a few hours ago.\

Basically I didn't find a recompiler for OS X, though I didn't look so hard since I hard VPC. I bet there is a linux/unix compiler out there though.

There is an App called "gumby" for OS X that I have used in the past to combine .BIN file parts and various media cleaning, etc. It will also turn pointless .NRG (nero + windoze = blows) to useful .ISO files.

Gumby 1.0b49, you can find it with versiontracker.com.

That may have something (but I have no clue) in it you can use, it has 20 or so other things in it I have never used.....

Yeah i know, i just view your post after i posted mine...sorry

But for gumby i know the program...and i dont think taht the cause of the probleme is that isn't a iso file...a image file is an image file no?

Sometimes i convert .iso file into .toast file for not toast crash...ans it work, but....at the base it an iso file..yes...so for dmg to iso i dont know....?!?

Gumby has "PS2 Swap Patcher" and "PS2 NTSC/PAL" patcher, but nothing that will make an iso out of my data...

The dmg/iso converter didn't work. It made a file with a .iso.cdr extension, and disc utility didn't like that, so I hacked off the .cdr and burned it, but the swap disc gave me a red border when I tried to load the disc. Which probably means none of my disc imagine techniques I have yet will work...I only have two discs left to try...

If it is a dmg to iso you need the OS X disk utility will do that. You should be able to mount the DMG file, copy it's contents to the a new folder and make an ISO of that folder with the disk utility. If that doesn't work. Burn the contents of the .DMG file to a sacrificial DVD, then make an image (ISO) of that DVD with the disk utility.

As for recompiling the ISO file in OS X, I have no clue still, though I have been looking around.

How the frig do I get Disc Utility to make an ISO file? I have this disc that I burned with the altered data, but I can't figure out how to make it do an iso instead of another dmg!

Arrr, somebody just torrent the aldered iso someplace :ouch:

How can you convert an .dmg file to .iso with Disk Utility?!? I just tried it but doesn't work....i try the CONVERT menu but it makes an .dmg file...

Hmmm...not sure, though I remember doing it (I think). I don't have time tonight to screw with it, sorry. Can it make a .BIN file? If it can Gumby will make the .ISO.

You can also find something to make a .RAR file or .BIN file and gumby will make the .ISO.

I typed in "iso mac os x" in google and found this link,

http://web.brandeis.edu/pages/view/Bio/MakingCDs

maybe there is something in there to point you in the right direction, I'm sure if you spent some time with google you can find a freeware app.

I KNOW OS 9 and it's disk utility or disc burner (it's been a while, can't remember) would make ISO files.

Good luck.

Yeah..but i don't think is that...i know very well os x....and i'm prety sure that it cant make iso file...we need gumby ..like you said, but dont want to use this programe cause i'm not very good with unix code and the terminal :P

Someone with Knowledge of cracking the 150sec limit should start a new thread like "Japanese demo time limit cracked" or something like that, so all the newcomers who hasnt read this thread wont keep asking how to crack it in the other threads.

Gumby 1.0b49, is GUI based in Aqua, no command lines.

Sven
But Gumby isn't useful for this, so it doesn't matter anyway.

all it will do is turn a .BIN or .RAR file into a .ISO. If disk utility can't make at least a .BIN file there has got to some freeware that converts a .DMG or makes either a .BIN, .GI, .RAR file for Mac OS X (can't stuffit or one of the thousand .ZIP apps on the make make a .BIN (or same type file?)). All of which Gumby can turn into a .ISO.

Though Gumby does nothing for recompiling an .ISO file.

I have opened the file in Cdmage. Yet when I click on track 1, pcpx_966.49 does not come up on the right hand side of the screen. It simply shows track one. Any ideas?
