Not that it would matter. The first black president is a way bigger event than the first orange president.
Bill Clinton was pretty big news:P. The irony of Clinton's "first black President" proclomation? Had there been no Barack Obama but Clinton was POTUS today, he'd be roasted alive for saying such a thing. White privliege, appropriating someone else's culture etc.

Because social media is a valid communication tool, it's also not wasting time on it that has been banned, or just social media.

The EPA have basically just been banned from communicating with the public in any official capacity, via any medium.

That's not a good thing.

I've made it well know I'd like to see the EPA done away with altogether anyway. It's a joke tbh, out of control with power exceeding what you would like to see without any sort of voter representation and the corruption simply keeps large business in business and kills everyone else.

Pre Nixon environmental agencies would be better imo, just as we should also abolish the DHS. I hope to see Trump address that mess as well. He could start by repealing The Patriot Act.

Anyway, it is a good thing to me to an extent. There is no reason for our government to get on facebook for the lols.

Once again it's not just social media, it's any and all communication.

The nature of the agency is not at the heart of that issue, it's the gag itself.

The gag in my mind is just the start of either a complete revamp or at least removal of much of the EPA's power, I know why it is troubling to you and usually I would agree but not with these clowns. The EPA attempts to circumvent our political system, they are supposed to answer to congress not the press. Why they have the power to make rules I'll never know.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA or sometimes USEPA) is an agency of the Federal government of the United States which was created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress.

There is so much wrong with that :ill:

Here is one small thing that shows what they do, there is no way this is a good thing, it's out of ignorance and arrogance.

So only the people the President approves of should be able to communicate with the public?

Of course not, you act as though you don't realize how our system works at all, the POTUS is not all mighty in this country. Anyway...

How does it protect the environment by putting small business out of business, increasing the price of goods, and shipping companies over seas to do what they please because there is no EPA in China? Plus we just ship the goods back in surely un EPA approved vessels

I wish he did not say shut them up, I wish he simply shut them down.

If he didn't initiate the gag then who did?

Once again it's not about the rights and wrongs of the EPA, it's about the action of gagging them. You said you would normally object, but because it's them you don't care, well put aside who it is and consider the gag instead.

It seems more like Donald Trump Day
Indeed

Just another 'trigger day' for the lunatic liberals.
Just another ra-ra day for the lunatic right.

See how easy it is to throw an insult rather than construct a reasonable reply.

Don't do it again, this is not a 4chan or reddit discussion, don't try and treat it like one.

He did, surely you can see the difference between the EPA and say Congress? the EPA is not legitimate to begin with, rather they find themselves in a 1/2 way point of no man's land. I will explain.

The EPA is not a representative or constitutional part of our government yet they exist solely from government funding, being as such who cares if they are told to shut up? Now if they were independent that would be different, if they were a legitimate part of our government that would be different. They are neither and I hope they do shut up.

I have had various clearances throughout my career to access government facilities and government funding, guess what? I signed papers all the time that gag'd me, so what?

Besides all that, I'm sure you are aware we have several gag orders in place because they make sense. Remember Bradly Manning?

Trump can only do what is legal or at least given the ok by the balance of powers.

Sounds more like an attempt to demonise liberals. Anyone who protests on Patriotic Devotion Day clearly isn't being patriotic.

Meanwhile ...
United States President Donald Trump stands by his belief millions of people voted illegally in the US election "based on studies and evidence", the White House says.
He doesn't actually give any details of what that evidence might be, though.

So in other words yes he can gag who he want.

This is also totally different from signing official secret acts and the like (which is what it's called in the UK), I asked you to put aside who it was and what you think about them and focus on the act itself.

As you seem unwilling to do so I can only draw my own conclusions on your actual views via that unwillingness.

No, I am looking at it for what it is, the EPA is not exactly in a protected area when it comes to free speech. Trump is not out of bounds as I tried to tell you before. If he can't do it he would not have, if it is proven that he can't do it, it will be corrected by our system of power.

I'd love to see the EPA bring a suit to The Supreme Court, if they did that they would probably be committing suicide. My guess is they will comply and no one will complain about it. In the meantime I fully expect something big as far as the EPA's very existence is concerned.

Trump is very anti regulation, if I supported the EPA in any way I would keep quiet and hope he doesn't axe it.

Even if they wanted to complain about it they can, they have been gagged.

However your unwillingness to separate the act from the agency is quite clear and answer enough for me.

I don't care who protests whom. Patriotism is something discovered by the self and not something imposed; the no true Scotsman fallacy is just that, a fallacy.

I'm only interested in why there now seemingly two days celebrating the embodiment of the state and the nation. And what differences, if any, there are.

Isn't it funny how Trump's supporters harp on about being silenced by the left, and yet are euphoric that he's banning over 15,000 people from speaking out?

I suppose the EPA will have to make do with some sort of "alternative communication".

I was there, this is irresponsible media. The picture on the right was at least 4 hours before the speech. By the time the speech started, all adjoining blocks were full of people trying to get in but were blocked by protesters that had chained themselves to entrances blocking spectators from getting into the main courtyard. It was an awesome event by the way!

Hmmmm.... should we care?

Future scenario:
Ongoing EPA investigation finds that the groundskeepers at both the Augusta National Golf Course in Georgia and the Trump National Golf Course in North Carolina have been using highly toxic fertilizer that has been running off the golf courses and polluting the local water reservoirs.

EPA spokesperson cancels this week's press conference due to gag order.

EPA Director asks Trump for guidance on what information can be released.

Trump approves the release of the information about the pollution being caused by the groundskeepers at Augusta National, and tells the EPA to discard all records from other investigations since they were initiated when the EPA was overseen by a previous President.;)

I can't converse with three people at once so I'll make a blanket statement.

If the EPA gag order is unconstitutional wouldn't we be hearing from the EPA or any number of other organizations by now? Or have we and no one has quoted it yet?

I don't consider the PUTUS as ignorant as it seems some of you do, he has constitutional lawyers, a ton of resources, and a cabinet to guide him. All he has to do is ask, "can I do that?"

The Cabinet includes the Vice President and the heads of 15 executive departments — the Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs, as well as the Attorney General.

The idea I might be against freedom of speech or government transparency is insane. I don't care what side of the isle Trump is on, he's not going to do something to get in hot water like that.

Here is what I think, he's getting ready to make some serious changes in regard to the EPA and he wants it to be sorted in Congress or maybe the Supreme Court and not the court of social media or mob rule. It makes total sense to me at least and I'm not agreeing with what he is doing because I dislike the EPA, I'm agreeing because I think he is following the law.

@GTsail

What authority does the EPA have, do you know?

Well they were founded by Democrats, and the South has historically been a Democrat stronghold until about 40 years ago...
...when the Republicans wooed them with the "Southern Strategy".
