Well, everything in this app is cool. Ahem :)

My first priority remains the transmission tuner. It's putting up a fight but I'm determined to tame it and deliver something very useful. That, along with some additional (collector's edition I believe) car support kindly provided by a UK customer, will be in the next release.

Immediately following that I will begin working on the TuneFinder, which will allow you to quickly locate a tune based on seasonal event or online race criteria. I'm also considering an extension to that which would allow the app to suggest tunes that can be generated through inTune to meet the specified event requirements. Think of it as having a virtual garage of tunes available on-demand. That would follow the main TuneFinder feature assuming I find no serious obstacles to implementing it (not likely).

I will also be fixing some other items like adding support for international measurement units beyond those found in the U.S. edition. I'll also be adding support to differentiate between front and rear tires - can't believe I missed that with all my planning and testing :dunce:

I have a few other ideas that I'm not really ready to reveal just yet as I'm not convinced they are viable, but they will hopefully allow me to add some more inTune assistants for modifying existing tunes. More to come on that.

For now - I'll get back to beating this transmission tuner to a pulp :ouch:

Would really like to try this out, but I don't do paid apps. Any chance of a free version with less features?

The TuneFinder will be a useful addition and I might start entering the torque figures if they start at a lower figure when International measuring units are introduced.

Thanks

I have considered a pay-per-tune model, but there will not be a free version. Sorry.

Im trying to tune a couple cars with intune and the values that it gives me are not in the range that will allow me to enter in gt5, specifically the gt300 Arta and IS350 wedsports. was using a lotus tune as the base.

Hi ekrainey,
Please send me a PM with the details and I'll get it figured out for you. This should not be happening of course. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Brendan.

p.s. If you prefer, you can e-mail me at support@gtune5.com

I've only recently downloaded the app, but love what I've seen so far. It is a fantastic was of generating a good baseline for a new car without having to start from scratch.

I'm looking forward to the transmission tuner!

Thanks a lot! If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

^ I appreciate all purchasing decisions, regardless of blood alcohol content :D

Thanks Dave.

LOL!

Will you be adding Corvette C7 Prototype soon?

App looks a bit confusing in my current state. That's my fault not yours 👍

Yes - it will be in the next update but I don't have a definite date for that yet. I'll know more in a week or so.

Let me know if you need any help. If necessary I can knock a few back so we're on the same wavelength. The things I do for my customers :D

Hi All,
I have a question for you that will help me move forward with the transmission tuner. As I have mentioned in previous posts, my goal is to allow you to take a picture of the onscreen dyno graph for a car and then the app will scan this image and get the necessary data to reproduce the graph and use it as input to the gear ratio calculations.

What I need to know from you guys is how far do you sit from your screen and what screen-size is it? I need to set a minimum graph picture size that will allow me to get accurate enough data, but I don't want to make it impractical to use by forcing you out of your driving position to approach the screen. Let me know whenever you can.

Thanks.

p.s. It turns out Apple is closing their App Store to new submissions from December 21st through the 28th, which effectively means the next update to the app cannot be submitted until the end of December. I will trying my best to have something slick ready for you guys by then. Thanks for all the support and have a great holiday break wherever you are.

That would be quite an impressive feature, Brendan!

I sit about 5 feet away from a 55'' screen.

Thanks Jordan. It better be after all the hair I've lost in development

It's actually coming along nicely so I'm confident it will work. Can't wait to get it out there!

When I'm racing I sit about 4 feet from a 50" display. Shots can be taken at whatever distance needed I suppose. I tend to take pictures in landscape mode, as my eyes see things horizontally. It would seem, a lot of smartphone users have their eyes on their forehead and chin. It makes me want to vomit when I see videos shot in portrait mode!

This will be an amazing feature if you can pull it off!

How can the app setup a car for specific tracks? Such as NASCAR Cup cars at Daytona, Motegi, Nurburgring layouts, Indy, or Route X?

Hi mrkevans. I have not yet made a final decision on Android and I still have lots of features planned for iOS so it will be a while before I have any time get into it. Unfortunately it's not as simple as which platform has the most users. Delivering a reliably high quality experience in an android app is an enormous challenge due to the fragmentation of the development environment and the multitude of different deployed android OS versions, not to mention the more than 1300 different devices running Android! Along with every other mobile developer, I have been waiting and hoping that Google would take the reins and get some control over this mess but thus far they have shown no sign of doing so. There are also some worrying stats that show paid apps sell a small percentage of copies on Android versus sales of the same app on iOS. Your guess is as good as mine as to why that would be true but so far everything I have read seems to back that up. I'd love if someone could prove that wrong but in the meantime it makes it extremely difficult to commit a substantially larger development effort vs iOS for a likely small number of sales.
It seems like every time I think about this, I find myself thinking about the obstacles more than the opportunity, so maybe I'm closer to a decision than I'm willing to admit. I want the Android market to be a substantial enough opportunity to warrant the cost of development, as I would very much like to make the app available to anyone who would like to use it. I hope something changes that makes that possible. Sorry I can't give you the answer you likely want, at least not yet.

Brendan.

I heard Jelly Bean made improvements for developers. However, Jelly Bean won't be available for my Galaxy Note for at least another month, so I'm just going to have to keep on dealing with Ice Cream Sandwich. However, I have an old iPhone running iOS6 that I basically use as an iPod Touch for music, so I'm going to download this app now.

^Thanks a lot JeremiahTB. I haven't had time to look into Jelly Bean yet but I will.

@DaveTheStalker: The app does not really work like that, without an existing tune for the track in question. e.g. If you have a tune for Motegi then you can adapt that tune to other cars with similar drivetrains. However, you cannot automatically adapt that tune to a different track. To do so would require detailed knowledge not only of how each track compares in terms of their effect on a car's handling, but also of the driver's handling preferences on varied track types. This is a very difficult problem to solve.

That said, I have given some thought to a system that might be able to pull it off given a big enough database of existing user-approved tunes. I'll look into it further when the other features are complete.

p.s. Glad to see Mrs. Stalker didn't take you out for buying the app ;)

Just saying this app is great. I use it most of the time to create base tunes for my cars.

As for the transmission thing I don’t really mind how far I need to be from the TV to take a picture of it.

Thanks mate! Glad you like it.

Sorry, pressed the wrong button. I somehow cannot change the LSD of this car. It just says "N/A". Thanks.
