Any estimate on when the new DLC cars will be added?

Hi gamerdog. Version 1.05 includes that support and has already been submitted for review. My best guess for release would be around the end of next week.

I have a question.

Running the Gtune5 website must cost money, and I doubt the app profit would pay for it.
So, how do you do it? There isn't a point in maintaining a website if it means negative profit, so...what?

Well, unfortunately you're right about the profit part. There's not much involved anywhere in this endeavor. The website is the landing zone for anyone that taps on one of my GTPlanet ads. I need that as a way to describe the app and hopefully encourage sales. As it happens, having a website is also an Apple requirement for selling through the App Store.

The most influential info for generating sales is unfortunately the only one I have little control over, and that's the user reviews on iTunes. Since only a tiny percentage of buyers actually submit a rating or review, the negative reviews really stand out, even if the source of the reported problem is user error. This why I periodically ask users to submit a rating or review as that really does have a substantial impact. Many apps include a popup from time to time which reminds the user to rate the app, but I've always found those popups to be annoying, especially in a paid app, so I'm reluctant to do that. For now I'll stick to begging for ratings from those tolerant enough to listen :)

Thanks for the concern gamerdog!

Ouch.
I can't believe that Apple makes you operate a website. I mean, I guess it cuts down on some spam apps but at the same time it is probably a turn off for independent developers.
I'll submit a review for it later today.

Thanks mate. I appreciate it.

Hi pgagoober!

I'm not sure if you are aware but your app received a glowing recommendation on the Team Shmo Drift Tune website. Link is here. I'll be trying this tune when I get home.

*Runs to app store to download GTune5*

Edit: Is there a limit to the number of tunes you can have for a specific model of car?

Edit 2: Here is a link to the GTPlanet post.

I tried to review the app but it said that I didn't have a copy installed, which is weird because it said installed in the top right corner...
Ah, well. Maybe someday.

Thanks for the headsup! shmogt had promised to publish a review but I didn't realize it was already out there. Thanks a lot shmogt!

To answer your question, there is no limit to the number of tunes per vehicle, provided your device has some storage space available. Each tune takes a tiny amount of storage however, so you are unlikely to hit space problems as a result of generating tunes.

Hi gamerdog,
If I remember correctly I sent you a free download code in appreciation for your help testing the 3G. In that case Apple will not let you rate or review the app. Otherwise I could effectively buy good reviews with free download codes :) Thanks a lot for trying though!

Brendan.

Oh, I guess that kinda makes sense...

In other news - version 1.05 has been approved and is now available in the App Store. This includes support for the latest DLC.

Just a minor thing, but it would good if the settings had options to display units for the various regions, eg I'm in eu and settings are Speed - mph, power - BHP, torque - kgfm and weight - kg

Yup. I'm working on that. In fact, it would be helpful if anyone using different units could send me a PM with the details so I can make sure you're covered. Thx.

Thanks mate. Funny, I've just submitted a review mentioning how responsive the developer is

You got it. I like the new iOS 6 App Store too. No password required for updates :)

Well, most updates. Probably 10% now instead of 90%. It makes no sense to require a password for a FREE app!!!! Or to update it.

Great app pgagoober 👍👍 Can't wait to see your next update and hope you can implement my suguestion for the ride height.
Cheers :) (its me r..i.l...s@gmail.com)

Hi riverfiver,
Thanks for your interest in the app. The app is available in Apple's App Store. It can be purchased directly on your iPhone using your iTunes account. Here in the U.S. you can buy iTunes gift cards and use them to add funds to your iTunes account. Hopefully Slovenia has a similar option. To find the app, open the App Store app on your iPhone and search for "GTune 5". I hope that helps.

Android? Its a bigger market than ios so makes sense for a Droid version

Hi mrkevans. I have not yet made a final decision on Android and I still have lots of features planned for iOS so it will be a while before I have any time get into it. Unfortunately it's not as simple as which platform has the most users. Delivering a reliably high quality experience in an android app is an enormous challenge due to the fragmentation of the development environment and the multitude of different deployed android OS versions, not to mention the more than 1300 different devices running Android! Along with every other mobile developer, I have been waiting and hoping that Google would take the reins and get some control over this mess but thus far they have shown no sign of doing so. There are also some worrying stats that show paid apps sell a small percentage of copies on Android versus sales of the same app on iOS. Your guess is as good as mine as to why that would be true but so far everything I have read seems to back that up. I'd love if someone could prove that wrong but in the meantime it makes it extremely difficult to commit a substantially larger development effort vs iOS for a likely small number of sales.
It seems like every time I think about this, I find myself thinking about the obstacles more than the opportunity, so maybe I'm closer to a decision than I'm willing to admit. I want the Android market to be a substantial enough opportunity to warrant the cost of development, as I would very much like to make the app available to anyone who would like to use it. I hope something changes that makes that possible. Sorry I can't give you the answer you likely want, at least not yet.

Brendan.

I would also like to cast my vote for an Android version, for what its worth. Hopefully, one day, it will be possible. Keep up the good work tho on the current platform. Good to see you're having success with it.

Hi pgagoober, I see from the website you're planning a new release quite soon. Apart from the transmission tuning, do you care to let us in on some of the "cool new features"?

Thanks
