Anybody out there following the Grand Am?

Alright, so Thursday, they're announcing the new title and classes for 2014. I think my biggest question now is: will the Continental Tire series be called something else in 2014. It was the Koni Challenge Series before, and with the merger, unless ALMS is fine using Continental Tires, they might change the name again. I guess we'll find out. I guess the CT cars could use Continental Tires and be fine, but, Grand-Am made a deal with Continental Tires for them to be their exclusive tire provider. That contract would technically be over next year. I guess they could call it the "Rolex Sports Car Challenge Series." I guess we might just find that answer on Thursday...or next year.

They've said continental will stay the same, I believe.

And whether that means the classes or the name, we'll see. They might wait until the end of the Continental Tire contract to change the name, whenever that is, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a name change to that series in the next couple years or so.

The classes and stuff.

The way I understand it, Rolex and ALMS are the merging series. Everything else is unaffected.

Class wise

The merger is solely between the series, any support series such as the Continental Sports Car Challenge Series will remain unaffected

Then don't look in the thread if you don't wanna know. I feel like we've been over this....

But, you see, I have to make sure cnd01 doesn't post the spoilers. I don't care if anyone else does. I've only got the problem with cnd01.

*insert a year (approximately) of racing with him, getting to know him, and being internet friends with him*

^ It's personal, Concon.

P.s., hawkeye, I dislike your avatar. It was awesome. Please return it to its awesomeness.

Yeah! Go Stevan!!!!

McAleer is a good friend of mine. Good to see him get the win. Even if he's not the fastest, he's one of the smartest drivers out there. Seeing him get defensive going into T1 on the last lap brought a smile to my face.

I believe that was cj wilson racing's first win as a team too.

Starworks #2 was penalized 3 points as were drivers Ryan Dalziel and Alex Popow for an illegal fuel rig. Yet another penalty. Paul Walters is really strict  Rules are rules though.

According to Laguna Seca's Facebook fan page:

"Our partner, GRAND-AM Road Racing, is unveiling the 2014 merged sports car racing series March 14th, 2:30pm ET. See it live on Speed, speed.com, grand-am.com"

So it looks like we'll have some idea about what the new ALMS/Grand-Am merged series will be called and stuff like that. Have to wonder what will result from this.

Yep. I'll be playing golf during the announcement  I hope it's not ALMS 2.0; I would need 8 tubes of chapstick because that would really chap my you know what.

It's not showing up in my programming list for whatever reason..

Why do I have a feeling it will be a lame one? I just want to know what races they are running so I can plan next years racing schedule out since this years is already full and I know I'm headed back to Daytona as one big trip but Vegas might be another.

We kinda already know the class structure. The big thing will be the car specs, series name, and other various trivial parts. I'm hoping they get it right.

I don't think it'll be overly exciting, I would also like to see their race schedule, but I highly doubt they'll say anything about it tomorrow.
