Glad to see Brendan Hartley can hold his own in real life too đź‘Ť
MĂĽle;8186140The 10 and the 63 got royally screwed.
Great race, though, even if I accidentally spoiled myself on the DP winner (caught the rerun at 11:00, but accidentally clicked the thread). Was interesting to see how the 01 was going to lose it. I laughed, to be honest.

He sim races?
Oh right, simulator test driver, I forgot..
He probably has more knowledge of COTA as well as track time than any other driver there besides Emmanuel Anassis who won the first ever race at COTA. He won the Ferrari Challenge races there. Anassis was driving the BTE Sport #27 DP.
I just saw the Ferrari Challenge race at Daytona, today, about a month later.
Surprising to see the number of destroyed Ferraris, including the Ferrari of Robert Herjavec, the guy who actually does have more money than brains. Pay drivers.
Which car # was he? I remember a couple of crashes in both races. John Farano and Emmanuel Annasis were the only 2 drivers who raced in anything else besides Ferrari Challenge.
Mac KRumors are of a Maserati GT3 competing in Grand-Am around the end of this year according to Motorsport.com...
JohnBM01That next round being at beautiful Barber Motorsports Park (right?). This is one of the youngest, yet most beautiful race courses in the United States. It is also home to some pretty intense racing. I'm not expecting any shortage of action when the series rolls into Barber Motorsports Park for the next race of the championship.
cnd01Barber is awesome. I am possibly going because it's a roughly three hour drive for me. IndyCar will be there too.
Aren't you the traveling man this year! 3 hours I'd be there but it's about 7-8 for me.
On a side note, does anyone know where I might can find one of the checkered flag with COTA logo on it? I want two of them, one for drivers to sign in May and one to hang up.
Mac KBarber is a fantastic track.
freshseth83Grand AM speaking about a/the American DTM series... http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/grand-am-dtm-in-america-series-alive-gaining-momentum/
Like I thought, they intend to keep it separate from the Rolex series. Hopefully it falls through and BMW, Audi entice the GT500 teams to head over here and possibly draw in some American makes... Cadillac (CTS-V) springs to mind.
That sounds good. I don't know if it will ever work. I won't bank too hard on American dtm. Gt500 would stand a better chance.
Aren't DTM and GT500 combining their rules package for next year? Throw in an American mfg or two and lets go racin' đź‘Ť

I think it's a safe bet to say that it will work, since an American DTM was essentially the only reason BMW returned to the series. They didn't want to build a car that was mostly only going to be used in Germany. Thus, with BMW's motivation spurring on the series, it'll likely come together.
I'd watch it. A Mustang, Challenger, or Camaro thrown in would be really neat. I think the Corvette already races Super GT.
Edit: Video of Mike Hedlund and the ESM Ferrari at COTA... Enjoy

freshseth83Corvette in this type of Super GT? Not likely. More like GT3/GT300. This isn't about the GT300 class. This is about the new GT500/DTM class. Like the article said, they intend to keep it separate from Rolex. So Rolex will continue with their DP's or whatever their intentions are as an endurance series, and the American DTM will be that what it is in Europe, basically a sprint type race of about an hour-1.5 hours.
DTM's would embarrass the DP class in terms of speed, so if they combined them, the DP class would need serious upgrades. But their intention is to match them with LMP2 so they're going to need that regardless. Plus the DTM cars are more sprint oriented. GT500 is a bit different with some races of 1000km (Suzuka) but they're about the same pace as LMP2. DTM is more oriented to luxury marques. So that's why I said you could see Cadillac. Maybe even Lincoln if Ford decide to jump in. They would have to use a coupe though so perhaps a Mustang or a new sports/luxury coupe. I think it would be a great series with potential for 7 or 8 makes to be in it if you include the Japanese 3 and the German 3 with at least 1 American make.
