Righteous Radicals!!!

I enjoy throwing this car around for some reason and it really suits me. So I entered slot 2 in Oceania. Not sure of the split but managed p4 despite a scruffy couple of laps where I just couldn't put it together completely. Got off to a decent start and braked early into turn 1, but the driver in front of me came to an most dead stop and I ended up tapping them. I was going slow enough they only moved over to the outside of the track, but I had to make sure they kept the spot and I ended up with a 1 second penalty. Served it and did my mandatory put that lap to limit the damage.

Came out in Clea air, but 4 pitted with me and because I was slow from my penalty they were all on my tail exiting the pits. But I had enough speed and managed to gap them and even started running down people that hadn't pitted. Every time I would catch one it prompted them to pit. I had a few slides and slow corners from minor mistakes and when pitstops cycled around end of lap 11 I was p3 but only 0.5 back from p2. Unfortunately I cooked it exiting the sharp left after 100r and with my dirty tires had to focus in holding p3. Managed to drag it home for a podium. And was very happy with that. 171 points and managed a fast lap in the process.

Don't know if I'll do the next one, but this one was fun anyway.

Congrats on your win 👍🏻 🪲

Yeah I’m not a meta car fan. Like you said some people I think pick the meta car hoping that they can compete yet are unable to handle the car. In your case using from day 1 I don’t mind that, I’m sure my AMG will be a meta car in a race at some point.
In the nations yesterday the car that won was a beetle but at times he was all over the road going wide and the backend skipping out.
Wonder how many people picked the meta car yesterday and had a worst result because of it?
Thank you sir, and you are right about them being all over the road and crashing, i almost went off road laughing at them last night a couple times, it was a cod fest on lap 2, 3 of the top 5 smacked that wall, i stayed back from them as i saw it coming as 3 cars cant fit in that turn, so somebody wasnt going to make it lol

That's weird, I've not seen anyone else mention that. I wonder if it was a bug in the session?
That’s why I mentioned it…nobody’s pics included the night. I think it was a glitch since the warm up that we couldn’t drive lasted at least 5 minutes before the warm up ending message appeared…

Yes, when you have black screens the time does continue in the background. So that must be the reason

Any tips on how to drive these radicals? I did a quick test today on my controller and got 2min flat. Jumped on now on my wheel and I can’t get anywhere near my controller time.

only thing i can see is brake early and try to go smooth through the corner and do not accelerate to early.
More so then with 'normal' cars it seems to be very time consuming if you brake even a wee bit to late...

good luck! will have a go myself in the 2nd slot...

Braking my issue on this car. It’s either too late and I can’t slow the thing or I’m a bit too early. Thanks for the advise though 👍🏻

Hopefully I have an ok race and result as the 1st slot my only attempt. F1 is on later so that take priority.
All the best in your race!

I did same with controller today, dont hv a wheel so i will try to improve on that time later, im on Merican cst so i can watch the F1 race and get a couple slota as well

My lobby just went into a black screen as qualifying started. Having heard the horror stories, I wonder how long this is going to last! :odd:

Edit - 5:27PM, still waiting

Well this ended up better than I expected given I'm not typically very strong with the more adventurous car options.

Qualified 6th with a time about a second off my practice laps which boded well for having a bit more speed in the race if I can find it again (not guaranteed given the lack of consistency this car gives me naturally). Got a great start though and was able to push it down the inside 3 wide into turn 1 and make it stick cleanly, moving into second place. While the leader was able to build a gap and pull away though, I was very much in the dogfight for second with some rough and tumble attacking and defence especially through the last sector.

Once I was able to stretch my legs second was a comfortable position. At that point about 7 seconds off the lead and gaining ground, with a frenchman sitting behind. I had checked on the home straight starting lap 4 and he was 1 second back, no problem I thought I can take turn 1 as normal until I heard and felt a big thump and he had dived from that far back to push me out of the line and force his way through the inside - 2 second penalty for him, well deserved - it stopped me gaining ground on the leader however.

I was surprised to see the leader pit a lap later with about 12 seconds gap by then, made no sense to me as he's likely to come out in traffic and it's not like we need tires or fuel. My confidence went up a lot as I wouldn't be stopping until lap 11.

He was still ahead though when I came out of the pits so either he got lucky with the traffic or drove incredibly well to get back out in front, fair play either way. There was a brit alongside him who did end up finishing first and then we got to watch him slide all the way down the leaderboard since he never pitted, ending up in last place. Ouch. A lesson to be learned, mate.

2nd place, happy with it, not bad - better than the disaster at Seaside.

Black screen during quali, wait or just go for a beer?

How your race, started finally? Was worth waiting?

You could say that. There was only 4 people in it when it finally started after around 40 minutes, and 1 of those quit during qualifying!

I ended up finishing last... but still P3 for 224 points. Dumbest race ever.:dopey:

Behold, one of the shortest grid rundowns you can possibly have. :P

anyone else had the bug where the matching will begin in countdown just goes to --\-- and youre just stuck on that screen? Happened to me yesterday so could not enter the race.

Fair play to the three of you for sticking it out. Don’t think I’d have waited 40mins.
My lobby just kicked me out after quali.

Congratulations;) I gave up after 12mins... Going to try one more time and definietly going for a beer:D 1.57,415 in free practice, dont know is it good or bad for A lobby

Put it P6 in quali, was on for at least P2 but messed up the last corner, was a pretty close quali all around with the top 6 all within 0.6s.
Survived the start but a bit of pinballing and a penalty for the car in front meant I lost the slipstream and as I didn't have the race pace of the cars in front it was a bit of a lonely race for me but once again P6

First attempt was horrible. first I messed up my best qualifying lap so only started 5th. It was mayhem, everyone crashing into each other, constant ghosting and guys spinning all over the place. Did all possible to avoid the carnage and found myself second at the end of lap one. An Englishman behind me dived into every corner like a maniac and after multiple contacts i decided to pit in lap 2 and get away from him and get some free air.
That worked for a while and after six laps i was about 22 seconds behind the leader, who had not pitted yet. But then i tried to overtake a Frenchman who started weaving on the straight like Verstappen on speed. Everytime i was beside him he started ramming into my side. This went of for about 3 laps, he was all over the place and i was doing all i can to avoid contact. Finally he got a penalty but that only triggered more aggresion. it costed me so much time and was now 28 seconds behind the leader. He then got off track and went back sideways, his nose making contact with my side. so i got a 4 second penalty and i had it. quit the game....really awful race. I know Nations has a bit of a reputation but this just ridiculous...

Thought about it a bit and i knew i could do better. So went into the next slot, got out thirst in Qualifying and had a mega lap, only a few tenths of my fastest time in practice and it got me pole position.

My start was okay but i was a bit to cautious through the first turn and lost a few positions but got these back quickly and was in second behind an Englishman. We got about a 2 seconds lead so my intention was to get away from the pack together.
Lap 2 he went onto the straight but had a moment and i was in his slipstream so went past him as i had way more speed and he followed me to turn one and then suddenly hit me in the back. I went of and he got a 3 second penalty. The next corner he let me pass and i was worried at that moment he did that to get another chance of hitting me. I was to cynical, think he just made a mistake. He let me go and from that moment on it was a lonely race. I increased my lead every lap and went on to a win by about 9 seconds ahead of him.

although only a D/E lobby i am still pleased with the result. Really like the Radical and had a nice livery i wanted to use...

stopped qualifying when i hit within .5 seconds of my practice time, started 15. everyone was so much faster than me (i recently moved up to A, but the room was split between A/B) my goal was to not ruin anyones race. i even saw a familiar username from here, and made a mental note to give them extra space. naturally, during the first several turns of carnage, i tapped his door (somehow, amongst six cars) and tried to veer off before smashing anyone else. at the end of the first or second lap, after we drove past about 400 penalty cars and he ended up hitting my "Legalize It" license plate at one of the hard turns. hopefully it wasn't thought to be a brake check or a block - i ended up making sure they got past me later down the line. had a spike of anxiety when i was sitting in 9th, having qualified a full 3+ seconds behind the top drivers. fortunately the course is wide enough to move out of the way.

for some reason i took a tire change? i'm not a smart man. the tires were just starting to feel right around lap 5 or 6 and my monkey brain just pressed the button. i would not do that again. i came out and instantly got a 3 second line-crossing penalty (???), felt the cold tires, and tried not to hit the same driver again out of the box. finished 15, somehow.

I guess I could’ve skipped this one but I wanted to at least set a score for the round. i've gotten back into Sport mode heavily this week but whew this was a rough pick. i adore the grid starts, having these cars on Sport tires hitting those first few turns was a predictable mess. i'm sure the people who can drive this... thing have a great time but that was a long boring drive for the man hitting 2:00 even every lap

These radicals absolutely should have slicks. A race car with crummy sport hards, come on seriously! Also, as it is a race car, and light weight, the amount of under steer is deplorable too

Slot 1 top split Oceania.

A word of warning. The details on the GT7 website are wrong. It’s mandatory mediums and softs NOT mandatory mediums and hards.

Qualy started well enough and I was Q5 for several laps, but I kept getting caught up behind slower cars and eventually tumbled to Q10.

Reasonable start to the race on mediums and the 2 in front made contact through Degners and I got by both on the run to the hairpin. And then… a massive punt from one of them put me in the gravel and DFL. The punter then immediately quit. What a dirtbag.

I then drove the greatest 12 laps of my life and with 3 to go I was in p5 with P4 in sight. Lap 13 and p6 drafts me down the straight and I defend the inside. We enter side by side with me half a car in front. I hit the first apex but he turns into me and we make minor contact. Neither of us are effected but penalty roulette gives me a 2 second penalty. I serve it and lose 3 spots.

Next lap I am on the back of p7 into Spoon. I draft through 130R and lift and coast and brake early but still give him the lightest of taps. 2 more seconds for me… Finally finish P11 in a race where I should have been pushing for a podium. Incredibly frustrating and disheartening.

It's not a race car.

Just entered in the race, only to find the game got stuck before qualification.
I have to work tomorrow so I decided to withdraw.
