So a road legal track car is not a race car?:)
This one isn't, no. It's a production road car.
It was build and designed to race and compete.
Actually the SR3 SL was specifically designed and built for the road. "SL" literally means "Street Legal"...

To that end, where previous cars went through individual vehicle approval (IVA) on a car-by-car basis, the SL was the first to be submitted for full type approval - and European type approval at that. That means that Radical could make and sell them without having to have each car inspected and approved for road use.

Additionally, the only series in which it races is Radical's own Challenge Championship - although I'm sure that people have entered their own cars in local club races too.

The 3 frustrating moments that defined my race.

To be fair, you did drive into three cars in that race.
1st & 3rd were pretty clear cut. I can see you being annoyed by the 2nd one but that's the hitbox reg in this game - it see's your front hit box hit the side hit box of the car in front & so assumes you've T-boned them. A lot of people are using this as a defense now; turn in when the overtaking car isn't quite level, you keep the place & they get a penalty.

Really? Incident 1 I stayed right carrying a lot more speed. There was some minor contact, but where else do I go in that situation. He hits me at a speed and angle where there is no way he was trying to take the turn.

Incident 2, if that is how the penalty system works, then it is broken. He has plenty of space. It shouldn’t be possible to turn into someone, not be impacted and have them get a penalty.

Incident 3. No argument that I tapped him from behind, and I’m willing to cop that one, but 2 seconds seems very harsh when there was no impact on his race.

1st collision, you had every right to go for the gap as you had the speed and the other should have left space. The collision at the hairpin was uncalled, just a raging driver as he lost two places.
2nd was neither driver backing out of the corner or leaving space. Like Hamilton and Max at Silverstone last year.
3rd just a stupid penalty the game issues. You did hit them from behind but its not like you took them out or it made them lose ground

Hi! One and done for me, Q went pretty well, did 1.48,4xx which was good enough for P4, but PP was only 0.078s ahead, very close... started on softs for 7 laps, little fuel saving, guy in P3 died in Degner2 on 2nd lap, so postition for me... from this moment race was boring, nothing happend to the end:D 149pts
Good luck all:)

I think I might have had a bit too much to drink before this one.

Qualified 15th after a few laps practice and I thought I had done a pretty solid B rank lap so little annoyed with that but as usual with this kind of start I thought I'll run the mediums out, look for clean consistent laps and hope there's places to be fought for once I've switched to softs - and enjoy driving Suzuka, a favourite of mine.

Spun at turn 1 under no pressure. :dunce:

At least it didn't change the gameplan and given this is Suzuka, I was soon catching others who had made mistakes and was up into 13th on lap 4 before the car in front turned into me as I went to overtake on the inside of spoon and I picked up a 2 second pen, considering he wasn't on my screen at all at the time of contact, felt a little harsh.

Did end up running the mediums into the ground, came out of the pits in 11th and with cars up ahead I got my head down and ready to put in some good laps. It wasn't quite enough and I ended up closer but still behind, taking a 9th place finish in the end due to two further forward serving penalties for not using both tires.

The sunset here is absolutely astonishing and worth the drive alone, not that I could capture a decent photo of it, oh well. There's always next time.

Went with the Nissan for this one. My best quali lap was decent other than T1/2 where I went too deep and that put me P9 on the grid.
Started on mediums but had no idea on strategy so was just going to take it as it came. Gained 3 positions on lap 1 through others errors and then gained another position at some point during the first stint after someone binned it at Spoon. I saw that people were going to at least lap 7 on softs and so pitted on lap 7 onto them as well as they should've be able to do the 8 laps just fine.
With a few laps to go, the driver that was chasing me for most of the race lost it at the Degners (I was not taking any risks there as I kept going off there during what little practice I did) and then after that 2 drivers in front went off just after Spoon, which handed me P3 and in the end I cruised home for a very lucky podium

Should have finished higher then P6 but I’ll take it. A few errors cost me

Quali P9, maybe could have done better but traffic.

Race start was ok, until a dive bomber before the S’s into T2. Didn’t lose too many places but was off the track. Into the hairpin I pick up a 3 second penalty for someone who decided they didn’t want to let me past. I didn’t realise you are allowed to defend your position and give a penalty to another driver. New one on me that. Anyway picked up a 3 second and put me at the back. After that I just kept going and I managed to pick up 8 places, due to quitters or others getting penalties. Pitted off softs to mediums on lap 7 and on the out lap the cold tyres gave me no confidence and I spun at Spoon. Lost a couple of places to P10. Then at Degner 1 I rode the curb a bit too much and spun again. No places lost just time. A few were fuel saving and past them or few got penalties so I finished P7. 2 driver ahead didn’t use both tyres so made 1 place and the other was just 1 minute ahead. That driver should have been given a DSQ or auto last place.

If some could explain how I deserve this penalty then I’ll accept the penalty!

Had a rough race in tonight's effort but also an odd glitch or I've misunderstood the rules.

I thought you had to use the medium & the soft tyre, so I made the mediums last as long as I could then thought pit for softs & hammer it at the end, but I got into the pits and my only option was to stop refueling, no tyre choice. So I assumed I'd got it wrong and it was mediums or softs, then I get to the end of the race & have a minute penalty (I assume for the tyres) so pushed down to 10th!

What's going on there? Should we have been able to change tyres?

Have you bought soft tires for the car?

No chance you accidentally skipped through tyre selection? Only thing I can think of. God knows why we can't just press back to go to the previous selection.

It was a rental, I think we get all tyres for them for free don't we?

Maybe it was this? I don't know, I didnt see it but maybe.
I do find these world championship type races way more buggy than the dailys for some reason.

Strange then, if it's a bug it's a new one on me. Without seeing it back it's hard to really say, it is a shorter pit entry than the average track, might have caught you out and you've hit x by mistake?

I know I barely got a swig of beer in before the car pulled in.

I am a bit annoyed don't know what's causing this.

Did 3 slots in the nation's cup, all 3 races ended with me getting a 1 minute penalty at the end.

Last slot I won the race, got a 1 minute penalty and dropped to 12th. Got the clean race bonus as well. Race RS with 1 pit stop. Changed tyres to RS again and fill fuel till just past the diamond.

I saw a couple other drivers get the 1 minute penalty also.

Did this happen to anyone else?

You needed to use mediums as well lol. It does say they're both mandatory tyres.

It is mandatory to run Medium and Soft tires

I just realized I forgot to post yesterday, so I'll just do that now and combine that with today's race.
Yesterday:
Went into the first race (second slot) with almost no practice as I didn't have any time. Race was ok and finished in P6. You need to figure out the car, so the race was more practice, so I went again.

Quali starts at 6:37, race starts at 22:00.
Quali went well, I got P4 behind MPeregrin, Tidgney and Pennysss.
Got P3 right off the line, which became P2 as P1 missed the apex of turn 1.
I then almost got murdered into turn 2, as there was chaos behind. I believe all of that was caused by lag, as I checked the replay (you can see that at 57:00) and there was no contact visible for me, but the game of car in front thought so and caused the mayhem.
From that on it was quite a boring race, but I was happy as I could match Tidgney's pace and keep Peregrin behind for the majority of the time. In lap 10 I was quite slow and Peregrin got past me.
In the end P3 was very good (although the gap behind was massive, as P4 was 14 seconds behind me), but unfortunately "only" 283 points. That gave me P5 in Germany overall and P17 in Europe after the awesome result of 325 points in the first race.

--------
Then today, we went to Suzuka for some Group 2 action. I went with my GT-R, that already worked extremely well for me in Fuji the whole week.

I did not really know how well I would perform, as I'm really not a fan of fuel saving... But I decided to give it a try anyway.
Qualifying (starts at 1:35) went well again as I got P5 with a 47.1.

In the race (starts at 17:15), I focused on trying to save fuel in the first laps. I did not practice enough beforehand so I didn't know how much fuelsaving was actually necessary. I think at first I did it a bit too much, but at least that gave me the ability to get some non-saving laps in at the end of the race.

I started on Mediums and intended to go 8 laps on them and then 7 laps on softs.
First lap was ok, kept P5 with no issues. At the beginning of lap 2 I almost binned it in turn 1, but luckily was able to save it without a spin. Still lost a place though, but could have been much worse. In the same lap I gained a position because someone had lost control in Spoon corner. So still P5.
In lap 5, the two cars ahead got in a fight and Nissman was sent offroad, so I gained one place for P4.
In lap 6 I made the same error as in lap 2 in turn 1, but with the same, non-spin outcome. Didn't gain another position, though.
After my pitstop in lap 8 I was still in P4, and was set to finish there.
But, stevegaming in front had some issues, as he rapidly lost pace (I guess his tires were dead as he pitted earlier) and then binned it in turn 1 in the last lap. So that means P3 and 301 points :)
So overall I'll be at 909 points, very happy with the outcome of this.
Turns out this is P4 in Germany and P9 in EMEA

It is mandatory to run Medium and Soft tires
Thanks for clearing that up, still learning here, 1st season for me.

However, in the race details it states: Minimum number fo pit stops: None.

Am I wrong in assuming that no pit stops are required as there is no minimum?

No problem, there is no 'mandatory' pit stop, no.

However you need to run both sets of tires, if you scroll to the bottom of the race details screen you should see it.

It's also displayed in the lobby before the race (on the right hand side next to the race order and player names).

So you needed to go from Soft > Medium or Medium > Soft to avoid the penalty.

I was looking at that and actually wondering.....if it was possible to no stop, could you run softs in the rear and mediums up front? Would that count?

Nope.
In GT Sport you could until they patched it out. It would satisfy the requirements but you cannot do it anymore.

Nations Test Season 3 in one post.
In general I am very pleased. Was a bit worried because it was the first Season in GT2 but it came out quite great.
This was the first Season with consistent results. Qualified 6th, 4th and 2nd and finished 4th, 3rd and 2nd.

Each race had one major error costing me at least one position. One wall-hit at the chicane in Dragon Trail, a (deserved :ill:) penalty for a back tap at the chicane in Fuji Lap1 (Ideal opportunity to combine with pit-stop to minimize impact) and a (less deserved :irked:
) penalty for side by side contact in Suzuka.

Points were quite similar with GT3 seasons...

So the second and third round of the Nations Cup were basically avoiding driver errors and hoping for others to make them.

I continue to struggle to find pace in one make races and a 14th and last place effort in Qualifying for the Radical Cup was unavoidable. I had to really try to hustle the car (something these types of cars are simply not designed for) to make anything from the race. Came home in 9th beating 2 others home and the rest were DNF's.

The GT500 race at Suzuka, I had hopes of a decent race, I like the flow of the track and the Lexus RC F suits my driving style for the most part. I put down a decent lap time, however others did a better job and I found myself 12th and last on the grid.

This race was simply surviving the chaos and minimizing errors, although I did make a big one that ultimately cost me at least 1 position by the end of the race. That aside I had a good battle at the end and I feel it was my over aggressive attacking that lead to me not being able to set-up the pass in the part of the track were I could genuinely capitalize.

For my 1st time ever racing in a GT series online this yr with Nations & Manufacturers series and with a controller, i am proud of myself with the results in both series even if only in GT3 racing, im still looking for a wheel if anyone has any suggestions that wont break the bank

I noticed the Toyota Gazoo Racing championship has popped up. Rounds 3 and 7 on schedule have unlisted cars/tracks.

Going to make myself seem very very hopeful and wish that's because the tracks aren't ingame yet, so they can't be listed.

Race 3 is at Le Mans, but with a new car (Toyota GR010 Hypercar).

Race 7 has the track not listed, so hopefully something new.

you did not deserve that penalty. no way! I can understand your frustration. Had the same Saturday when a car spinned of track all by himself but when he swerved back on track his front touched the side on my car. and i got a 4 second penalty :banghead:

A rather poor Nations Cup weekend:

  • Dragon Trail: Death chicane curbs got me every single race, once while leading.
  • Fuji: 2nd twice when I was really hoping for one victory.
  • Suzuka: Worst race in a long time. Then my wheel malfunctioned 2nd race and barely clung on for a podium.
