Did first and second slot Nations at Suzuka.

First slot qualified 10th, got to p7 then made a bad mistake into the hairpin and took evasive action. P13. Then got sideswiped off the track twice by the same driver. The last one was in the run to Degner and it resulted in me being deep in the sand. Just a total write off.

Second slot with @ShiftingGears I qualified 5th and then had some really, really great racing. At one point I got to p3, then dropped to p6. Eventually finished p4 after going through Casio 2 wide without contact, twice. Shout out to GTP_Legend who pipped me for the podium after 2 laps of intense, wheel-to-wheel, clean racing.

210 points, done for the night.

Also, these Civics are horrible. Just really annoying to drive with both oversteer and understeer. Tips are to stay in high gears and use the throttle to kick the rear around.

Slot 1: I was feeling rather slow in FP, so I wasn't expecting much, but to my surprise I qualified 6th with a 13.9. I held that position until the left-hander at the very "top" of the course on the track map (I forgot the name, but it's the one that leads onto the curvy flat-out section before the carousel). The car behind me braked way too late and punted me off. Fortunately I didn't spin, but I was down to P10 briefly before I repassed the car who'd punted me as he waited for me to go back by. I was a little annoyed, but mistakes happen (I should know...). Later on in the lap, someone else went off and I was back up to P8, which is where I stayed for most of the rest of the race. It rained in the middle of Lap 3, but it was only a single thin band and never wet the track enough to cause too much concern. Somewhere along the way, @Geauxgreddy's game apparently froze again (I assume, judging by the way the car was acting from the replay), then on the final lap, the leader's game froze just before Flugplatz. The leader's misfortune promoted me up to 7th, then someone running off track later in the lap gave me 6th. I then threw it away all on my own by needlessly clipping a curb on the "back stretch" and spinning myself. That put me back down to P8 once again, until the Jag I had been trying to pass for 5th earlier that lap also spun towards the end, so I crossed the line 7th. Without my needless mistake, I was looking at 5th and 260 points. Instead I ended up with 7th and 234, which is decent, especially at a track I'm actually rather slow around, but what could've been... Still, I'm not going again, especially because I'd only have 1 more attempt at it apparently (the game was still only showing 4 slots available instead of 5, and with there only being time to do every other slot due to how long the races are, that means I'd only be able to do Slot 3 and miss Slot 4, with Slot 5 apparently not being an option for me...).

Sidenote, there were about 5 separate instances where someone went off track several positions in front of me, only for me to catch their slow cars as they got back up to speed at the worst possible parts of the track so that I couldn't overtake. Every time, the car that was just in front of me was able to squeak by, but once I caught up to the recovering car, there was no room left for me to attempt a pass.
Good to race with you again, @GTWolverine ! Unfortunately I did freeze again. I wasn’t expecting a good result but considering I was having a good race (minus the guy ramming me 4 or 5 times from behind) picking up quite a few Greddy Passes at the beginning. Lap 3 I was in p10 (and was ok with that) and then….screen just locked up. The freeze put me off so much I didn’t go again. I’m going to swap the ps4 pro for my ps5. I don’t know what else to do. 😞. Reset the router before the race and checked my up/download. Looked great. No clue why I had 1 red bar when I entered the lobby. May need to switch servers???

Anyone who watches my videos knows I have a true love and joy for GT. Especially the various Championship series. GT7 is really putting that love to the test. Between the lobbies and the freezes I am really frustrated.

Terrible result in my first official Manufacturer race. Jumped in the NA 10pm GT1 time slot, was way off my FP time and qualified P7. Race was not going well so I pulled the rip cord on lap 3, and missed the 11pm race entry by about 10 seconds. After the frustration I saw there was also a midnight time slot, so I run a few more practice laps and get down to 8:16.6, feeling better for the next race. I get in the lobby and about halfway through my qualifying run I get disconnected 😡. Hope to redeem myself in Nations tonight.

Slot 2 EMEA region black screen.

Glad we ran all those Test seasons…………:banghead::indiff::banghead:

EDIT: Qualifying started at 4:08 …….. only 5 of us remained.

Finished 2nd. Points gratefully received. R1 done.

Persistence 1 vs 0 GT7 :gtpflag:

Somebody give me "Darth Vader Nooooooooooooooo" material, because I'm feeling like that right now; I was winning, in a freaking Alfa Romeo :D it would be an outstanding achievement on my part..................

But the half wet last turn decided to say..............."no :mischievous:"

Binned it, got 3rd instead :(
Well...................karma decided to reward me this time :embarrassed: 1ST WIN ON THIS GAME ! :gtpflag:It was an intense (and clean enough) battle for the victory, but no binning this time :sly:

From these anecdotes so far, it seems to me that most of the freezes are happening to PS5 users, so swapping back to a PS4 might be the way to go. I'm on a base PS4 and I've never had connection issues in any of the Sport Mode races. Lobbies are another story...

To be fair, I thought he meant real actual prizes at first, if I knew he had meant in game credits right off the bat, I wouldn’t have even said anything. I have all the cars in game exact 4 now, so I don’t really care about credits.
Really?

Of course I'm not suggesting people in lower leagues receive equal prizes to the very best, I'm just saying you'd surely get more participation if everyone had something to shoot for instead of just the best few hundred people.
you win something. It's not as prestigious as the elite trophy, but it's something to aim for.
Most people want to see some sort of attainable reward for doing something in a video game, no matter how small.
It's not like I'm suggesting those who win the lower levels should also get to go to a world tour event, I'm just suggesting that more people would take part if there was a little something to aim for if you're not one of the absolute best players.

Are you still going on about participation trophies? Whatever man, have all the credits you like, you want a cookie too? 😂
Yeah sure, why not.
The fact someone can multi quote themselves 4 times in one thread really says alot.

But hey keep up the poop patrol. 💩
I quoted myself 4 times to illustrate how many times I'd made it clear I wasn't talking about offering real prizes similar to the actual elite players, and my bemusement therefore that Pigems thought that's what I was suggesting.

Oh and I've never once used the poop emoji if that's what you mean, I'm not a child. All I initially posted in this topic is that it'd be nice if there were incentives for people of all skills to take part in these events, I don't even care myself, I doubt I'd do them anyway. But whatever, apparently these are elitist events for elitist drivers.

It’s called a competition, it’s for competitive people. If the incentive of seeing how you can stack up to the best of the best, and all your near rated peers and friends isn’t enough for you, then there are all kinds off offline, and even a new unranked online mode coming for people to race casually. Why you’d expect to find anything less than competitive people in the most competitive section of the game, is what confuses me. 🤷‍♂️

Because you're saying competition between 162,000th and 161,999 is effectively pointless, I'm saying give those people something to fight towards, not just the unrealistic goal of top 32 in the whole world. Why are you firmly against it? If you don't care, that's you, but what have you against them adding tiered prizes like I outlined? What is the negative?

Literally no harm in doing it like Dirt Rally does it - different tiers of prizes depending on your ranking. Not sure the exact values but have a high prize for the top 10%, another prize for 10-30%, slightly lower for 30-50% and so on until it's just like a participation award for the bottom groups.

Yes indeed, exactly the sort of thing I'm talking about. Even some special liveried cars if you make the top 50%, or just literally a gift car or two. Just small incentives to do a little better without having to be the absolute best.

You're in GT2? Holy Europe. :scared:
Yeah, it's a small cheat really. I haven't used GTPEDIA for GT7, so I have a baseline for stuff, and I never really ranked up GTP_Famine since the early days of Sport, so it's at B/S.

I'm only a mid-range A/S at best anyway.

If you need credits to give it meaning, then have all the credits you like, like I said before, I don’t care. I quite enjoyed working my way up through the rankings, regardless of which position it was for, all the while knowing full well there was nothing to win but potential increased rankings and the chance to see where I stood on the big measuring stick. If you need more than that, maybe competitive racing just isn’t for you. 🤷‍♂️

Look, im by no means a great driver yet, im B/S and heck i still use AT because i havent gotten use to wheel yet but i do not believe in participation trophys & incentives because alot of us race for the thrill of victory or doing well in race, that agony of defeat & learning to get better against good drivers, with alot of good incentives just for racing, what would be the point to get better at it? Im going to get a prize or high money or something anyways so no reason to really strive to get better, just my opinion

Quali'd 15th and finished 12th. Game crashed and closed at the results screen - presuming my race counted though (..hopefully).

Really didn't gel with that car. Same with any sim though, I never got on with the TCR's in iRacing either, the way they drive doesn't suit me at all.

"Messy" is one way of putting it. How many do you think you took out altogether? I counted 3 when I was behind you on lap 1.
2 were my fault, but both I slowed and waited for them to get going. 3rd I was rammed from behind and several were taken out in the process going into Klostertal kurve. Like I said, it was messy. I tried to make amends for it in the 2nd race.

Went in to my first race with 0 laps of practice and so intended to use it to get to grips with the car. Had a couple of battles and there was a good bit of action throughout and in the end was P12. Decided to go again thinking I could do better but I ended up in top split and had no race pace whatsoever and came plum last.

Was a weird round for me as I just couldn't figure the car out, I think if you do work it out there is some fun racing to be had.

Only recorded my 2nd race as that's the one I'd get the points for but wasn't really exciting on my end
