Just did the mani race and it was crazy. People hitting others off.
had no quali pace in the M4, only did a 59.0. P13
Race starts and went on Softs. Got to P6 due to quitters or spinners. Pitted for Hards and rejoined in P8 and on the last corner i spun. P9 and P10 past me then just as I got up to speed P1 lapped me and race over. Finished P10.
Everyone used Hards in my race, but I went Softs as I can’t get any pace out the M4. Did a lap in the SLS on my UK account and lapped in 56.6 but M4 my best is 59.0.

Ran my race just now. Plenty of familiar faces including one known for being aggressive. I qualified p8 with a fairly steady not impressive qualifying lap. Lap 1 I take it easy into turn 1 and gain on the drivers ahead who were all sliding around being aggressive. 2 in front of me clipped the wall on the downhill run and were out of the battle, next lap another driver missed it. Suddenly I'm p5. Tried to just drive steady and smooth as I considered I was already playing with house money. I kept gaining and losing on the guys ahead but was never under threat from behind.

Finished p5. Plenty stressful driving that alley every lap so I'm one and done. Oddly, despite the messy BoP a 4wd driver tried 19S/1H and ended p2. The rest of the top 6 were FR cars so let's hear it for stability instead. The 4wd were the cars that ran wide and died.

Looking forward to see what else is next.

Did any others try the softs? I’ve done two races now, 1st with S-H and 2nd on H. Both races every other drive used the hards so looks like the 1 stop maybe not the way to go.
I have my UK races coming up and I’m in the SLS and I can go 2 seconds a lap quicker in that than the M4 that I just ran with. Am tempted to run the softs/hard.

I have my race tonight in merica but trying to get a tire strategy for FF Scirocco because those front tires wear down so fast, if i dont get good strategy, its going to be a messy night lol

i have practiced a lot with the F-type, and although the hard tyre only strategy is faster it does depend on not getting into any mayhem during the race. And driving the Softs is a lot more pleasant to do so i am going for thew 19S/1H strategy, provided i qualify upfront. If i do so and can get away from the pack clean and quickly I think i can pull a big enoguh lead on those starting on hards, allowing me sufficient time to change to hard tyres on lap 19.
As i am in a D lobby I am pretty sure that others will also start on the softs and sure that they will be very aggresive to the ones in front of them starting on hards. So i am expecting a lot of incidents...and those who forget to change their tyres off course.

I may try that strategy for 1st race to see how it works for me, you are right people on softs will definitely be acting up out there, im going to be cautious and maybe bide my time with them wrecking, and hopefully i dont get bullied off road before the pit

some time ago you had the same race in GT Sport, only difference was the tyre wear was more then + 1.
I qualified second in a B/S lobby and switched to hards as i wanted to do a no-stopper. I was telling myself to be cautious and get out of the way if some one on softs would be behind me and try to drive my own race.

Never had a chance, every corner i was punted and pushed by the drivers on softs, and was going from 2nd to 13th in one lap. horrible race! So i learned from that and will use the softs this time. (provided i qualify up front, but i am sure i can manage that in a D lobby...)

Is there a mandatory pit stop for the Manufacturer race? I thought I read the race details and it said none. It sounds like people are pitting? Tire and fuel consumption are only 1X multiplier. Why do 19 laps on Softs and 1 lap on Hards?

Hard is a mandatory tire, meaning you could do the whole race on hards but from the sounds of it it would be way too slow against the softs you're better off pitting.

Or at least that's the option available.

it is mandatory to use the hards. If you start on hards you do not have to pit.
You can also start on softs but then you do need to pit for hards, best after lap 19

hards with a no stopper should be the faster option but you are more likely to have issues while driving, mainly do to agressive drivers on softs. so you can also start with softs if you qualify up front and try to get sufficient distance between you and the no stopper on hards.

It’s an awkward one today race. In a custom races I did, both strategies worked out at about the same race time. You lose around 30 seconds I think in the pits, but my race pace difference between soft and hard is about 1.5seconds.

Why can we not see what tyres other racers are using?

how bad are the softs on lap 19? How do the rr and mr cars deal with them? I didn't test them...
can only tell how they are after 19 laps in the Jaguar F-type (FR): still excellent, no wear to mention...

(but assume that as tyrewear is only +1 that all types of cars will have no issues with the tyrewear)

Are we really able to use RS tires?
It says RH in the required slot.

I did 20 laps with the porches and barely had any wear

You can use which ever tyres are available. Soft, Hard, Inters or Wets. You must complete at least 1 lap on the Hards.
So you can either run soft/inter/wets for 19 laps and 1 lap hard, or 20 laps hard.

I'm with porsche too... Looks like the soft are not 1.5 sec quicker though... I think I'll stick with the hards!

You can do 20 laps easy on the soft tires. 20 laps isn't much on this short course. But we have to use Hard tires for at least one lap? Where did I miss that in the regulations? bleh.
