Took the GTR into the Nations Cup. Oceania 2nd split I think. All A+ Except for 3 A.

I was half a second off my best in qualifying and started p6. Decided to start on softs and see what happens. Lap 1 was amazingly smooth and well behaved but it became clear quickly that the NSX in front was running mediums. Turn 1 lap 2 and p2,3 and 4 came together at the apex. P5, me and p6 all got by them in the run to turn 2. I then spent 2 laps trying to find a way past the medium shod NSX before he got a bad run out of the final turn and I was able to get him through turn 1. Now p2 and 8.5 seconds behind p1, I proceeded to pull away from p3 and by the end of lap 6 had a 3 second gap.

Tyre wear was noticeable but not brutal so I eased up a touch and went for a no stop. With 4 laps to go I was within 5 seconds of first and 5 seconds in front of 3rd.

Despite consistently taking chunks out of the lead I was just too far behind and crossed the line 2nd 2.5 seconds behind the winner.

244 points and one and done. Take that all you Honda sheep :D

Good combo, really enjoyable.
How worn were the softs?
For an average (new) GT player would you recommend just running mediums to be safe?

Ran both slots 1 & 2 EMEA Region in the Genesis.

I have said it before, but what are PD trying to do? Get rid of Sport mode entirely?

On the face of it, a race that appeared to offer some variety with 20 laps, two tyre choices and a mandatory tyre. In practice it turned into the usual sprint race!

Only a relatively small advantage in running softs with pretty much zero tyre wear on hards. Fuel use not even a factor. Penalties either over the top or non existent. Destructive drivers with S ratings being allowed to mix with people trying to race fairly.

Suffice to say, the opening laps of each event were an utter fiasco. So many folk just intent on getting to the front at all costs with no regard at all for anyone else. Once it settled down, a procession ensued. No sense of fun, no satisfaction in completing a strategic event. Just a lingering bitter taste.

Sorry for the overwhelming negativity but that’s how it was/is for me. :indiff::guilty:

With family commitments I wasn't able to jump into Nations for Oceania until slot 3. Always sketchy when I know a lot of regulars will have already run at least 1 previous slot. With a few laps practice I took my trusty Lexus out to battle. And was the only 1. 2 GT-R, 8 NSX and then me in the Lexus.

I managed to nail a flyer and put it on pole with a 35.3. Decided to just go all out with a softs no stop and hope dirty air helped me. The guy behind is known for screwing up turn 1 or 2 on cold tires, but no mistakes so we all got through and down to racing. I could gain large chunks of time in some sections but he would nibble it back. I never really cleared him although we gapped the field by over 5 seconds quickly. He was persistent but patient. Finally on lap 12 I couldn't close the door properly into the final turn and he made an excellent pinpoint pass to get by. I come home p2 and he got a well deserved win. I wanted it, but he definitely earned it. 181 points and I'm done.

For anyone wondering, here's 13 laps if wear on softs while pushing in the lexus on a controller

My Nations race was a disaster. Not a lot of practice today cause I had to work, plus my G29 decided to go off center constantly. I was praying it didn't happen during the race but sure enough on lap 2 I had to switch to controller (which in my 180+ hours of GT7 I've never used!). So P11 will have to do. I didn't really gel with the track and car anyway.

Urgh this nation race, too many fast sweeping corners.

Anyone know what time the UK races start? From the Asian races they were 1 hour later.

Ah I didn’t know that. Thanks for posting this! I will keep this to note. 👍🏻👍🏻

I did a race at 12pm (uk time) on the Asia series and in my race I had some strange glitches. I wonder if that was the start of some issue

I found solution. What did i do is: go to daily race A and enter it if it is green. Then go back exit and re-enter nations cup race it works. And i deleted temporary network data from settings too

Same problem here. What a set of clowns we are for persisting with the utter nonsense these Companies dish out. This is supposed to be a fun game not some weird death By a thousand cuts.

Hour later and still can’t get on. Ah well I’m not too bothered about the nations. Missed the first one as didn’t like the car and will probs skip the next one too.

No Stop, soft tires strategy with dualsense ? TORTURE 😵 I couldn't save tires for my life 🥺 However I got a bit lucky and managed to get 6th place after the two in front of me.........let's just say........they decided, together, to take a route that doesn't exist during the last lap 😏
