I am new to this. So if I do every race in a round. And I win the first race but come in last on the last race I do. I will not get the points for the win I will only get the points for coming in last. Is this correct?

Only your last result counts, win, lose, disconnect, or anything.

What's the strat for today's race, soft or medium, will it rain etc?

Was watching Mistah MCA's video on this. He actually did his fastest simulation on a no stop soft but tires were completely toast by the end so need to be very careful w/ that strat. He also made it clear that in the actual race with Gr2 cars you're going to be (unless you pole and run away at the front) dealing with dirty air from cars in front of you which will be upsetting your downforce, causing the car to understeer and wear the tires out even more. He did the simulations with no one in front of him.

Then I think 5 seconds slower total race was a soft/soft 1 pit, and slowest by another 5 seconds or so was a no stop medium. So a 1 stop soft/soft seems like it might be the best way to go. But who knows for sure :)

Could've won the race tonight, but I raced 18 laps on soft tires. Qualified P2 with the Corvette (0.044 off P1), lead the race until lap 18, and finished P2 with the fastest lap. Not a bad night I guess, but could've been better.
Thats what happened to me last night, pitted on 18th and fell to 4th, had 10 sec lead going into pits but next 3 didnt pit and i had 1st in pole after qualy, i was really upset

Started 7th, finished 5th, can’t really complain. 100+ points. Pitted at the end of lap 7, be careful about pit entry if you don’t know, it’s a trap. German got better of me by a 0.9 without box even though I was ahead of him before entry. Oh well, at least I had enjoyable and smooth whole race. It gets amazingly dark as race goes on but no rain, don’t worry, just reduced visibility.

Glad AutoPolis is out of the way. Had two nightmare races on my SG account.
Tonight what with the crazy PSN issue I missed the first 3, couldnt do the 4th and was only able to race the last one.
Quali was good, P3 0.043 of 1st.
Start was good, and made it to P2. Lap 7/8 I pitted for new softs, rejoined in P5 a few seconds behind P4. Past P4 with ease and was only 10seconds of 1st. Made a small error in the dirty air of P3 and slipped back to P5 again. Made my way back up to the back of P4 on the last lap before, made the pass but they didn’t like this so they pit manoeuvered me. Finished P6. I’ll take but should have really finished P2 maybe P1 with the error and the idiot crashing me.
Called the driver out in chat he was dirty cheat, and the response was, ”men finish first”. Looks to me like spoilt child that cheats. So angry because of it 🤬

Is the McLaren Gr.4 car's acceleration really bad? On Sardegna it seemed like people who had worse lines still were gaining on me by the end of the straight.

I used in the first month or two and it was great, but since the recent updates it’s taken a hit and now seems to be quite a slow car. Think someone said all MR cars are bad now.

Just wanted to throw a big"I'm sorry" to German player Mikelion for destroying his race with an involuntary punt at Autopolis Turn 1 earlier today :( Last time slot too, sorry, I'm not the type of guy that rams people off road, I just missed the braking point fair and square.
Then I gave the position back to whom I think was you, but it wasn't you, it was another German player, you went almost last I saw in the replay, a complete mess on my part.
It's ridiculous how I did not get a penalty, it looks like PD completely removed them like they did with GT Sport, absolute morons.

Had one go at the Nations Cup race at Autopolis. Gr2 are not my best and I don't really like nor master the full Autopolis layout, struggle a bit in the technical 3rd sector... Did some laps in TT with a rental car and I knew it would be a struggle if I didn't get into the 34s.

Talking about TT, one question: I don't think there's any way to test race conditions with a rental car, right? Would be nice if PD adds a toggle to choose either Qualifying conditions (tyre/fuel wear off) or Race conditions (tyre/fuel wear on) in the free practice TT.

CSA Slot 1, 294-point lobby. Was hoping for a low 35 at least in qualy, but didn't put any good laps together. Did a mid 35, 1.1 sec off pole despite being purple in the first sector (so the issue was definitely not the first corner!). Qualified P12.

Knowing it was a survival race, I tried to save my soft tyres, as I planned to do a no-stop. I still struggled with my fronts badly in the final laps, however... :indiff: I gained some places from drivers binning their cars, all the way up to 7th at one point, although some of the places gained were due to leaders pitting. Then lost a position to guy who pushed his way through, not cool.

In the final laps, I got caught by two of the leaders who had stopped for fresh tyres. They caught up and went for moves in unorthodox places, kind of had to get out of their way to avoid incidents. Grip difference was massive. I then couldn't get closer to the guys ahead, impossible to get close in the dirty air. At least, I was able to hold position despite the gap to the cars behind reducing a bit in the final couple of laps.

P10 at the end. Not a good performance from me, but I didn't really enjoy the combo, so I decided not to go again. 183 points which I hope I will end up discarding come the end of the season.

I’d like to see this feature added. Be nice to just run round and do some proper practice laps. I wouldn’t mind seeing quali changing to include tyre wear and you been able to set fuel load for x laps.

Wouldn't mind tyre and fuel wear in qualifying, but if they do that, they would need to allow to select the amount of fuel manually. Otherwise, we would get the ridiculous situation that happened before in GTS of everyone fuel burning in 1st gear for most of the session, only to do a single qualy lap at the end with low fuel...

GTWS 2022 - Season 1
Manufacturers Series - Round 2
Sardegna - Road Track - C // Gr.4 - Porsche Cayman GT4

After missing Round 1 due to the US holiday, knew I better put in some results over this weekend in Round 2. The last time they ran this combo in an FIA event, I didn't love it, but at least this one was shorter.

I surprised myself with a Q4... been surprising myself on occasion in qualifying... maybe my pace is actually improved after all. So was encouraged that now all I needed to do was avoid mistakes and carnage at this race and a decent result was waiting for me.

But: I let a couple past to avoid trouble early, slipping to 6th, then recovered a spot or so when trouble found people ahead. Only then to try to outside-in undercut a guy that was pressing hard into the last hairpin... and in the process hooked that awkward curb by aiming too deep into the apex while the car passed in front of me (obscuring my view of the curve), and ended up looping it into the inside guardrail. Complete c---up of a mistake and all of my own doing. Again (like the Toyota race at Suzuka where I gave up 3rd place in the LAST TURN).

So I had to reverse it and plod my way around to ultimately finish 12th, an a do-nothing good-for-nothing results, I'm sure. Could have likely managed a 5th place or worst case 6th place result, from the final finishing order, if I had just kept to the script and not screwed up. Ego bruised. Again. These mistakes are not like me. I've just not raced enough in the last few months and it's cost me results.

GTWS 2022 - Season 1
Nations Cup - Round 2
Autopolis International Racing Course // Gr.2 - Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 '16

So I packed my helmet (actually GT puts you in the generic Nations ones for these races, but you get the point) for Japan and attempted to restore my faith in my racing craft at Autopolis. I actually liked this combo: the longer corners, dependence on good throttle control, and tire management aspect of the race would suit my better abilities than the point-and-shoot race on Friday. And I actually really like that track, though it's a little exhaustingly awkward with all the weird blind and off-camber entrances.

Got matched with about a third of the lobby as A+ drivers, so was going to be a competitive race.

My qualifying effort was ruined by a thoughtless guy that screwed up his own lap with a nasty bobble then parked his car on the apex in one of the fast corners at the start of the last sector. I was purple halfway through that lap so I was really irritated because the splits indicated he cost me at least half a second... so instead of 4th or 5th, I had to start 9th, since that was my best QT effort. Get out of the way if you screw up your own lap, you cretins. He would have been penalized IRL, but as it was, I had to start just behind him, of course, in 9th.

(Note: I did learn pretty quickly that the muscle memory from racing SF at Autopolis a few weeks ago wasn't really helpful in Gr.2 cars! Those braking points didn't work so well in the first few laps of practice either! Huge difference in those cars, lots more than I realized, but I guess it stands to reason. Probably similar engines but whole lot different on the body and chassis side... and much different aero... Gr.2 have hardly any downforce until you are really flying...)

Vowed to race as clean as possible to get a decent result in this one, and that I did. Just a workman's effort, mistake free, steady pace, and collecting spots as other binned it in the aero wash of the leaders or by pressing it on the worn soft tires by the later laps. Cruised home to 6th place (Steve would be proud), incident free, and easily managing a large gap to 7th over the last laps, knowing that even if he got to within a couple of seconds, the dirty air would help protect my spot, especially on even more worn tires.

Pretty happy with that result, despite the lack of drama and not a huge points haul in this new system where we are locked into our peer groups. But I'd take a whole season of clean races fighting near the top 5, if I could repeat it every week.

So probably was a wash with my DR, with the bad race at Sardegna offset by a better showing against a tougher field at Auotopolis.

(sorry for the lack of pictures, been hard to put in the time that I used to. Ran the team livery in both races and they look great on GT7 after importing them from GTS and updating the decals with Fanatec instead of the Logitech ones.)

Last weeks results in GTWS and TGR Cup:

Nations Cup: P9
Manufacturer series: P4
TGR GT Cup: P2

Nations was an all out struggle in NSX, managed a P10 in quali, didn't have the pace at all but quali time was almost identical to practice. Was up to P7 at some point but then some faster drivers started catching up and passed me, some of them may have been on mediums? I really struggled with tire wear on softs, but also on last lap two drivers binned it, and I tried to pass a Dane who made a mistake, but no he sideswiped on purpose definitely me a bit before the hairpin at the end of sector 2. I managed to re-enter the track and make the hairpin, then somehow fend off a much faster German on fresher tires on last sector, P9. All I could do with that pace.

Manufacturer series, not much went on, gained a few places early, but then lost them back after lap 13 or so, back to p8. Seemed like all I would get in the gtr. But nope. Last few laps, one driver binned it, I passed him/her. Then on last lap final straight, someone tries to force another driver in the pits, WRX driver gets spun, up to p6. To top it all off two drivers did the whole race with softs and got a 1 min penalty, so I go up to P4. So lucky but I take it 🤣

TGR GT Cup. Had some good morning practice and did a 3.21.7. Then when I practice in the evening just before the first time slot. Pace is gone, low 3.23 in practice. And in quali struggled in darkness, 3.24.7 and P9. Race then. Extremely chaotic first chicane, but I just barely survive it with sliding cars everywhere and being hit big time to the side, up to P7. A few drivers bin it on lap 1, P5. A greek driver bins it later, P4, stays very close to me, and he was on mediums, myself on hards, finally gapped him when he outbraked himself a tad into first mulsanne chicane on lap 3. At start of lap 4 I notice that I start to catch up the leaders on mediums. Another driver bins it, P3. Leader bins it and now leader changes and is 6-7 seconds ahead middle of 4th lap. Down 2 sec to P2 and 4 sec to P1 start of last lap. First leader the Belgian driver in P2 struggles on worn tires and outbrakes himself end of mulsanne, but I would have passed him quick soon anyway. P2 and 3 sec to leader. Could not quite catch up, so I finish 1,4 sec behind the leader. What a race that was, my best race in GT7 for sure, first over 180 point score, 192 points. Consistency is important in the races especially 😎🏁

Had a pretty good go of things in the Manufacturer's Cup Friday night (GT2 class). After being disappointed at the amount of understeer the Gr3 AMG-GT suffers, the Gr4 SLS seems to handle much better. I had done all my mental calculations on the RS & Pit vs RH strategy and in my mind decided the time difference was about the same, and that going with RS was a safer choice (more grip, thus easier to evade other's potential erratic driving). This ended up being the wrong call, haha. Qualified in P2, lost the pole position right near the end of Qualifying by just 0.049 seconds. And then it didn't take me long in the race to realize I had erred in my tire choice. P1 started on RH tires and I was having a difficult time getting around him. Ergo, I was losing precious seconds that I couldn't afford to lose. Finally got around him on lap 3 but was never able to gap him by more than 7 seconds. I didn't make any mistakes but I just didn't have the pace. Pitted for RH tires on the last lap and was promptly passed by 4 cars. Finished in P5.

Which meant I had to do it again in the next slot, and just use RH tires. Naturally, I was lumped in with a faster field this time (always the way?) and the best I could qualify was 4th. I was able to hold that position down pretty solidly, though many cars from mid-field kept showing up in my mirrors after heavy brake zones and while I didn't give them point bys, I didn't make them work hard to pass me since they were on RS and I knew I'd be seeing them again soon. Made one mistake and spun around lap 13, was pretty pissed about that - cost me 10 seconds but at least I didn't collect anyone else. Dropped me to P7. Then on lap 19 all the RS people pitted and I was elevated back up to P3. 9 seconds behind 2nd. If only I hadn't crashed...but a great fun time either way IMO.

For the upcoming Nations race at Le Mans, I made a quick-and-dirty side-by-side of the fastest 919 lap and fastest GR010 lap on the leaderboard.

tl;dw - The 919 pulls ahead by around 1.4s after corner-exit of Tetre Rouge, but the GR010 catches back up and is 1s ahead by the 1st Mulsanne Chicane. The GR010 stays ahead for the rest of the lap, eventually having a lead of around 3s up to the Porsche Curves. However, the 919 makes all of the time back at the Porsche Curves and Ford Chicanes.

Ive tested both cars and got the Porsche round maybe 1 second quicker. I found the Toyota very quick in a straight lime but has really poor brakes and turning. Porsche poor straight line but has amazing grip in the corners. It’s like that daily race the other week with the Gr2 cars vs the CLK.

The numbers I posted for round 1 last week were based on the reported total_user_count parameter for each class/region which somehow are higher than the total sum of players with valid non-zero scores in that round. I don't know what's causing the discrepancy - maybe it's (lots of) disconnects? For those curious, the count of valid non-zero scores from round 1 are included in the spoiler below:

Very true. The 919 is definitely a much easier car to drive. If the lobby you're in is more about keeping it on track and being mistake-free the 919 would definitely be the move. However, given the straights at Le Mans, pace-wise, if you can drive the GR010 by knowing how to manage the understeer, the only way I can see the 919 beating the GR010 is if you get a pass done at the Porsche Curves, send it through the Ford Chicanes to build a gap, and then grow the gap through the turns before Tetre Rouge.

The other problem with the 919 is hybrid charge. Those qualy laps start with full charge on both cars. If you don’t/can’t do the constant harvesting thing for the 919 it’s race lap times will be quite a bit slower because it is out of charge by Indianapolis.

I predict the 919 will not be competitive for anyone except the absolute top drivers or those who are happy to just shove others off through the final sector.

Umm. Carnage and messy. I tried to run the Manu round at Brands Indy. I had consistency but no pace whatsoever. Qualified p14 and went for a kamikaze strategy. Start on mediums and pit lap 1. I ended up gaining ground as people made mistakes stretching mediums or just the usual brands errors.

I held a few people up for ages as it is so hard to pass there. Eventually 1 person got a good run alongside and as I left room another tried a wild dive bomb. They slid past in front of me on my screen and started wiggling. Suddenly they darted off. I'm sure they feel I punted them but I didn't as far as I can tell, but with PD lag who knows. Into lap 24 and someone wrecks and has damage. They block the line and keep swerving to keep me behind while damaged. Heading onto the last lap I make a cut back on Paddock Hill to be on the inside at Druids. They get loose and wiggle on the curbs taking out themselves and the car behind. Ugly.

Very messy. Horrible tight and stupid combo, but Q14 to P9. And not again.

Anyone doing this: Good Luck and stay calm.

I was one of the cars stuck behind you along with the blue GTR and i can only apologise for the amount of times i bumped you in the braking zones. First ever 'FIA' race on GT7 and at this rate the last!! Absolute nightmare of a race. Got punted off eventually at Druids by a Gnarly driver who i then saw crash a couple of laps later at the final corner battling you and the GTR so i felt a little justice had been served there! Basically qualified 8th and finished DFL!!

Hmmm I was thinking about skipping today race, but sounds like it’s just going to carnage for everyone. Think now after seeing this i might defo skip it.

@Redneckchef as you say the Indy circuit doesn’t really offer much overtaking opportunities and I can just see everyone trying to make impossible overtakes.
