I don’t know how I (in the 458) managed to lose this one:odd:

Hard race in the Jag, had a complete field of 4WD cars and Supras, aside from 2 others in a McLaren and a Viper, we qualified 12-14th with a couple slower Subarus behind us.

Really dull race overall, for me anyway. Could only enter the last slot of the day and it was pretty much a procession and I hardly saw a soul. Fell out of slipstream pretty quick, with a gap between me and the cars on either side forming early enough for me to dive into the pits on the 3rd lap for the undercut of the century.

Worked pretty well, people fighting put me up into 10th by the end of the race (though with GT-Rs quickly gaining on me) but I finished 9th by virtue of the fact that someone forgot to pit, not something you see every day in an A+ lobby. I wonder if they thought they had immense fuel saving capabilities.

164 points.

I did 2x GT1 races in the GR Supra at Monza today, the 2nd was the best as i was getting used to the car and gears in the 1st one.

I started 5th with a 1:58.7, i was in 2nd when i pitted on lap 6, came back out in 6th in a group of AWD's. I got punted off on the 2nd right hander after the 2nd chicane (i don't know what the corners names are), i was slow out of the chicane and a WRX and EVO both decided to dive bomb me that corner, 3 wide (complete muppets). I dropped to 9th and only made it to 7th by the finish.

On a plus running Daily B today, i dropped to A/A, after the first Monza race i was back to A/S :)

Could only run the last 2 slot today in manufacturer (Mercedes) as my car broke down in the middle of nowhere this afternoon at 35 degrees (the ones normal people use ;)).

Started P3 (1:59.3) many errors later, but a fun race, i finished P8.

Thinking I could do better I retried. Started P2 (1:59.5) many errors later :dunce: I finished P8.

Got 59 pts for my trouble in B/S lobby.

PS: You can guess I do not like Monza particulary well…

Monza time then at manufacturers, happy days in the GT-R. Great qualifying, I did a 1.57.4 and improved my best practice time by a whopping 4 tenths, started P2.

Race pace was pretty horrendous, could not keep up with the leader in a WRX who was very rapid. Ended up in some fights with a couple of drivers behind so I decided to pit at the end of lap 3 to stay away from the fighting and have a relatively clean track.

Pace in clean air was not good enough and lost over 3 secs to an Italian who was barely ahead when I pitted from P3. But he took a big penalty at the end of lap 8 and I overtake him, only to fall back after the first chicane on lap 9. At the end of lap 9, the top3 pitted and I just about get ahead all of them when they exit the pits, as well as past the Italian in P2 who I slipstream past. Very chaotic lap, Italian sends it to a small gap in the second chicane and forces me wide, I re-enter the track and force someone else wide, but I stay in P3. Having to defend heading to Ascari, a Genesis attacks from the outside and squeezes me to the very inside almost out of the track and we go side by side. But I decided not to back off from that line not to lose all momentum and lose two positions, so Genesis driver gets forced slightly wide since I could not get my GT-R to turn properly. A 155 attacks me after Parabolica/Alboreto, but I stand my ground on the inside for a P3.

Yeah, good points scoring 191. I am not proud of some of my racecraft, but others gave me very little respect too and I was having none of that. You are always gonna lose in sport mode if you bend over all the time, sometimes you need to make tough decisions. But yeah that was an eventful last lap, WRX was maybe still the best car for the race, GT-R was quite good as well though.

(i don't know what the corners names are)
First one is Rettifilo. Second is della Roggia. Third one is Ascari. The double-right is Lesmo and the final one used to be Parabolica but is now Alboreto.

Irritating to see my Q time would have been good enough for the same position in GT1/A lobbies as GT2/B lobbies

Had a crap first lap on my "good" run (the one without a nobber being a nobber) and got passed by a BMW M4 who clearly qualified behind me but despite both running pretty metronomically he just pulled away from me everywhere. I thought the Atenza was overpowered these days?

Passed a Cayman on the last lap into the first chicane and... I can't really work out why he decided to try to squeeze me between the corners Verstappen style, but he ended up the same place as Verstappen did and with a penalty to boot while I just disappeared. If he'd give racing room he might have got me later in the lap... 🤷‍♂️

Another very frustrating night in Manufacturers'. Fastest Jag driver (Tapai) was over a sec off pace, so I kinda knew I didn't stand much of a chance with the broken BOP. I'm usually decent at Monza, but my best lap in TT was 58.3 and couldn't go any quicker. Decided to give it a go anyway, which was probably not a wise decision.

Americas Slot 1 was pretty good, other than having my best qualy lap ruined by a guy who exited the pits ahead of me and blocked me during my flying lap. When I called him out, he said he couldn't see anyone on track. Obviously, he didn't quit, went into the race without being able to see anyone, and went on to then make a mess. It seemed like I could finish between P5 and P7, until I was overtaking that guy and he turned in like I wasn't there, obviously. Since his car was immovable, it was mine who went off track... P9 at the end, decided to go again, decision I would then regret.

Americas Slot 2, shared lobby with @D_Dragline. I had a bad qualy in this slot and made a few mistakes in the race. I tried to get a tow from @D_Dragline but it only lasted one corner as I ended up getting hit by an American into the 2nd chicane and immediately lost the slipstream. P11 at the end.

Americas Slot 3, again sharing lobby with @D_Dragline. I ruined this one myself by making a last-second decision to pit, crossing the pit entry line and picking up a 3 second penalty... :banghead:

Americas Slot 4, ended up P15 after being crashed at Ascari...

Americas Slot 5, in what I think was drop split, worth 273-points. Again had my qualifying ruined, this time on purpose. A Colombian went for a move while I was on my flying lap and he had a 1s penalty for track limits!! What a 🤬... Same guy then ruined me another lap. And I invalidated my final attempt myself in the 2nd chicane... so P16 start. :ouch:

I think I did a pretty good race in this final slot. Started last, 11 secs off the lead, ended the race 22 secs behind winner Deano Heldt, despite not having a slipstream, even though there were some esport guys with quick cars at the front. I just tried to stay out of trouble, run the best pace I could and pit at the end of lap 9. Exited the pits in P10, and I managed to pull of a nice outside move into the 2nd chicane over an American who had a bad exit out of the 1st one, but defended on the inside.

P9 at the end. Not bad from P16 on the grid with a slow car. 182 points which aren't useful... but at least I managed to end the night on a somewhat enjoyable race...

Honestly, I'm not sure whether I will do the last two rounds, might not even bother. Game bugs aside, BOP is completely broken, driving standards are very poor and the penalty system was turned off again... It's a shame, but I think GT7 will end up losing all competitive appeal and they will lose the driver base they built with Sport.

On some new meds that have had me drowsy as hell to the point I was trying to focus but ended up weaving around on the back straight and quitting out before I spoiled someone's race. Hoped I'd feel better for a later slot but didn't unfortunately.

Enjoying reading everyone's reports as usual, gutted to miss out at Monza, aiming to be back next week

It was good sharing the track with you. I was so bummed when I saw you had the 3 second penalty. I think we could have finished top 5 in that race working together. I was starting to get the hang of the Lancer.

I pitted at the last minute to try and get away from that peanut in the McLaren who was divebombing and then holding us up.

Slot 3 was very messy. The Asian races have been much better standard than that. Glad to see you persisted and finally got a good result in a very uncompetitive car.

Started 3rd and finished 2nd in my Cayman last night. Fantastic variety of cars in the field which was good to see. I'm so loyal to Porsche on this game but I made draw a random class out the hat for next season.

Ran my M4 in slot 1 and that was me done.

I had to check folk weren’t in Gr3 cars I was that slow.

Q16 with the other BMW driver in the race one position above me. My lap was 5 seconds away from pole. Now I know I am not the best driver but this has to be a joke.

They need to stop releasing more cars and fix the stuff that’s wrong in Sport Mode. I wish we all had the willpower to stop playing until they fix it.

Tough race at Monza in the Corvette, GT1 NA 12:00 am slot. I haven't run a ton of laps here and typically avoided it in GTS sport mode due to T1 drama. I had no pace and qualified P11 with 1:59.7. Decent car variety in my race, I actually had some clean racing with a McLaren, Supra, and WRX. No yellows in the race which surprised me. Finished P8 with clean race bonus and 123 points.

The Corvette is totally out gunned here, a few times I clearly got on the throttle sooner than the Supra coming out of T1, but even with slipstream couldn't get a run. I can't believe they took 4 HP away from the car in the last BOP adjustment. I did see a Mustang do well in my race so it's not all FR cars that are handicapped.

2022 GTWS Manufacturers Cup - Round 4
Monza - Group 4 - Jaguar F-Type

Slot 1
- I do not know how to make the Jag go fast around Monza, and Monza is one of my favorite tracks. However, even when I'm fast here in an OP car, bad things tend to happen to me, lol. This time around I wasn't fast here so I was hoping the opposite would occur. No such luck in the first slot. Qualied with a 1:58.257. Not great. Q11. Tried to stay out of trouble and race clean. The idea was to find someone fast and just try to hang on. Nope. Lots of bouncing around and awkward, "you go" no "you go" kind of doorway dances. Hahaha. Ah well, p10 after a likely lag punt and then getting run wide on the final lap in Ascari. Lost 2 spots because of it. Boo hiss, lets go to slot 2.

Slot 2 - I was going to carefully read the traffic in this one. If the group in front went in the pits, I'd stay and out and vice versa. Qualified p14 with another 1:58.2xx. Consistent...that's what I am. The pack in front jumped in the pits (about 8 or 9 total) so I stayed out and followed Thierry. Was working great until he landed a 1 second penalty on the 2nd chicane around lap 5. I managed to avoid any missteps but was all alone with no slip assistance. By lap 9, I had run 8 clean fairly good laps. Pitted and when I came out, I somenhow jumped 5 slots. Came out in p9! Took her home and managed to get 206 points. Not great, but for me it would have to do. Called it a night.

I had to miss the first 2 slots due to a graduation part for a friend. It turns out this was probably the perfect round to have skipped due to prior obligations...

Slot 3: Actually qualified dead last in 16th with a mid-58 lap, even though I was capable of going a second faster in FP, then finished P13 of 14 who finished the race after getting a completely avoidable, utterly stupid penalty because I moved across the pit exit line right as it ended... Still, even without that penalty I was looking at a pathetic result.

Slot 4: Qualified 14th of 16 again being unable to get anywhere near my FP time, despite having JUST done mid-57s in FP before the slot started. Ended up in a tight 4-way battle for P9 between 2 AMGs, an Aston, and myself, but was never able to attempt any overtakes and finished at the back of the train after the Aston drove around the outside of Parabolica on the last lap and beat me by a few hundredths. P11 for some useless points and I decided to not bother with the final slot.

Thanks mate! It was quite messy indeed. Congrats on your good result! :)

I don't think anyone could make the Jag go fast, they absolutely killed the car with the BOP... :( Few Jag drivers even bothered. Despite our low scores, your score was the 3rd best in Americas, mine was 4th. Only Alonso Regalado (Jara) managed a good score in the Jag.

Excited for that Nations race on Friday, it’s very much a “me” combination. Having the torque split and brake bias available would make those cars a whole lot more fun to drive though.

Can’t understand why the WRX is dominating the leaderboards, there’s multiple cars which handle better and seem capable of setting better times.

So, to date I've done 3 of the Manufacturer's Cup races. But when I look up my points ranking, it says only 2 of my races are valid for points. Can someone explain that to me? What would cause the 3rd round race to not count for me? (of note, I didn't compete in race #4 as I was on vacation).

Only your best two rounds so far count.

That means you only need to score 2 times out of 6. The scores worse than your two best scores are dropped. It is the same for everybody.

Ahh, thank you both. For some reason I thought my best 4 scores were going to count (but I think that I may have confused that with the Gazoo Racing series). Would make sense since the one not "counting" was my worst finish to date. Damn AMG Gr3 is an understeering piece...

I think it was actually best 4 scores at the start of both the Manufacturers Cup & Nations Cup, season 1 stage 1. But looks like that has been changed now.

The best 3 scores count at the end of 6 races. It always stays around half of the races completed so far.

“Season 1 Calculation Example:
・At the end of Round 2, points from the best round will count towards the final score.
・At the end of Round 4, points from the best two rounds will count towards the final score.
・At the end of Round 6, points from the best three rounds will count towards the final score”

so for Watkins we have to use all 3 compounds? love it.
Interesting……..going to a crazy race I think, but great too.

Wonder how many people will pick up time penalties for just running 1 or 2 compounds? And do you get double penalty for running 1 compound only….?

probably 1 minute for any compound not used.

I prefer this type of strategy to the fuelsave/short shift type - let us run flat out.
