Wow. So Nations on Friday was a bit blah, qualified p10 of 12 and finished p9 due to a last lap track limit penalty. Bit of to and fro but nothing really.

Decided to enter Manu with very little practice and some cold beverages in the mix. Don't know how but blitzed my practice time in Q despite having to pass a car and ended up starting p5. Troll in front pushes 1 car off, and after I get past pushes me a bit too but I manage to stay on track and not lose it. Seems he was struggling to keep up, he started on mediums and we are all on hards. After he pits lap 7 we get down to racing.

An Aussie, myself and a Japanese driver get trading spots while the leader runs away but we are all hampered by lag issues as this race is on the Tokyo server so lots of lag jumping. We do our best and all 3 are still together after pit stops on lap 11. The Supra keeps braking on exit from corners if I get a run causing me to rear end them, or turn in on me if I'm inside, which has me backing off. After 4 laps of this I say screw it, take a late exit to avoid the brake check on the first hairpin, and when alongside at least second I don't back off when they turn I on me and gap them quickly. I'm still way back but the guy ahead has been sliding a lot. Last lap I close down a big gap anda ready to pass them coming out of the infield. I hold off and work to get a huge run out of the bus stop chicane, somewhere I've been making time all race. It works. P2 and a career high 213 points. Shame for them to be nipped at the line by 0.006, but they've beaten me plenty over the last couple of years.

Well worth it. Good luck all and hang a right at the chicane, only the left side gives penalties.

Well what can I say the Nation Cup last night was interesting to say the least it was none stop Mario Cart managed to finish 6th in Gt3 tier
I did notice all the stock liveries for Subaru there was 6 # 5s in the race

Been a bit unwell so this is my first World Series race in a while and on one of my favourite circuits as well.

Things looked good from the start as I got my second ever GT7 pole, my first being here as well. That's the only position I get nervous from though and on came the clammy hands as the race started and though I got away well and led the pack I picked up a silly .5 penalty coming out of the Bus Stop which let second place through. From there it became a battle with the car behind and that put us both back some seconds and into the chasing pack as the leader had the chance to build a good advantage ahead.

Nothing too crazy came of it and I came into pit on lap 8, one lap later than the leader hoping he had come out in traffic and had a poor lap.

From then came all the pit stops and once it settled down it was the Brit who had taken the lead earlier, a German, and myself with a Greek chasing about 4 seconds back who it was going to be between for the win. We traded places and some paint on those last 5 or 6 laps and it was a really enjoyable experience. Sat in 3rd I watched the German spin the Brit out in front of me and passed through to take 2nd. I needed to German to slip up at the Bus Stop to give me any chance going round the final time but he didn't, took it solidly and brought it home ahead of me by about half a second.

Oh well, little annoyed I lost the lead on the opening lap but it's easy to imagine I would have won when anything could have happened and given me a worse result than 2nd, so I'll take that back with me.

still a nice result, hope you are feeling better soon!

Gave this one a go though wasn't expecting much with my pace on the combo. Had a clean quali but was only enough for P14. First few laps had some 'interesting' moments thanks to a certain driver (who ended up quitting later on). Was pretty uneventful apart from that, mostly down to me not being able to keep up with the pack and in the end it was P11. I think there is some fun to be had on the combo as long as you can stay with a group of cars.

Up against a sea of DR C Beetles and WRX, qualified 10th (on the mediums, idiot!). Terrible race, shunted off on opening lap, fought back up to the pack, shunted again, penalties at the chicane and for some road rage. Had good race pace when I managed a rare clean lap (optimum would have been fastest lap). Managed to pass the Porsche that hit me twice on the last lap, then they and 3 others got the minute penalty for not using the right tyres. Not sure how you can be dumb enough to still be doing that.

9th place. A banker, will go again later.

The 4C was actually not bad at Daytona, in terms of speed :) Of course the problem, being an MR car, was in the turns :indiff:

Started 11th, finished 10th; it could be 8th, but I almost died at the bus stop with 2 laps to go :boggled:

Jaguar - P1 for 180 points.

A rare pole and a rare victory.

Lap 2 I went wide at turn 1 so demoted to second. Would regain the lead on lap 4 and stretched the gap to around 4 seconds. Pitted at the end of lap 7 for hards and avoided traffic on the way out. After the pit stops had all been made I'd a 6 second lead out front and would coast to victory, eventually winning by 4 seconds.

Delighted with the pole and the win. No need to go again even though I feel very pacey here

Really enjoyed today race. When PD get strategies right it makes for some brilliant racing.

Entered the 3pm UK, B/S lobby in the AMG
Quali P3. Was 0.002 off 2nd place then some stuck a decent lap nearly half a second quicker than us both.
For the race I had a little bit of insunder knowledge before the race for my strategy as I joined a pre race lobby test.

Started on Hards as I knew these tyres offered great grip and pace for ,Amorite of the race. Lap 1 nothing to boast about, simple steady opening lap. Car in P2 had a really bad connection so was really off putting at times due to the lag and never knowing where the car was on track. L2 into the T1 braking zone P2 had gone wide but they didn’t and I had tapped the rear slightly. Got through and up to P2. L3 and P1 unfortunately tapped those horrible inside tyres and spun. Luckily the game ghosted them. Running in P1 until L8, when the dodgy connection driver closed up. I decided to let them past as they were quicker thought they were on mediums too (which they weren’t), and I didn’t want to get tangled up in the dodgy connection. P1 never pulled away after they overtook me so was running 0.500 behind all race. L12 P1 pitted but I stayed out as I knew my pit stop lap was L13. Made a small error which cost me 1 second so still ended up behind. From then until the end of the race it was a close run battle of me within 1 seconds but just couldn’t make the 1 lap fresher mediums work to be able to past them.

Decent race overall and happy with my result. If it wasn’t for the dodgy connection I could have maybe got P1.

good result! Can i ask what your qualifying lap time was?

Daytona is fun as ever, qualified 5th with a 1:44.3 in the Jaguar and decided to start on the Mediums for a bit of spice, got up into 2nd pretty quick (pole in the WRX also took Mediums) but after a few laps the Supras behind were able to keep up and start gaining on us due to their insane pace on the oval parts of the track, their top speed is truly ridiculous.

Pit about lap 8, came out 13th, almost died due to cold tyres (or maybe just not used to hards) on the bus stop and then proceeded to drive into the wall at turn 1. Oops. Drove a pretty clean race with some bumpdrafting along the way with people that had pit for mediums, which gave me the chance to catch back up to 6th, overtaking them on the penultimate lap as their tyres ran out of juice.

Would've been a nice 5th if not for my untimely death, but happy enough with 6th for 214 points.

Arrrggh. I am so pissed off with myself. That's the best race I've done so far but I should've had my first win.

DR C. Pulled a lap out of nowhere to stick the Aston P3, thought I had a chance at pole for a while. Front 2 took each other out on the infield lap 1 and suddenly I'm leading. Mega stress, never been there before. Held off a quick Supra for a few laps, he got me on lap 5. Pitted lap 6 as planned to get on the hards, but then a disaster. Spun at the chicane, lost about 10s. Dropped me in traffic, a few fights and track limit penalties ensued that I really didn't need. Recovered through the middle phase to end up running 3rd, back behind the Supra. He got the tyre penalty at the line so promoted to 2nd. If it wasn't for that damn spin ...

I'm supposed to avoid stress, doctor's orders. May have to go back to playing Stardew.

Haha I know exactly how you feel been through all of those emotions in one race. When your leading a race all of a sudden you kinda panic and forget what your supposed to do. As for the cold tyres I’ve done that a few times too.
Good result though to recover from the spin and still take 2nd. Keep going and your win will come soon enough, and it always when you least expect it too. 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah that manu race made me so mad. GTR friggin useless against a lobby of 60-70% meta Supras & WRXs 🙄 Cannot even keep up with those 2 in the slip.

Ah well at least Suzuka is next week, my fav track and GTR is maybe good there? 🤔

Nations looks fun too but I may miss that round though..😬

You can. I think it was a 1.45.7xx. My average lap time was 1.47.
nice one. That is pretty close to your practice time, well done. Shows me that I am right to skip this round, my avarage time is way to high compared to my best practice time, can not find consistency on this track, was only getting slower to more i practiced.

Shame about the spin, but 2nd is still pretty good. And think we all have stress when leading (I know i have) and probably all have horror stories about screwing up a sure win. I remember being on my way to me first 'real' win at one of the Tokyo tracks; All i was thinking in the last lap was 'Do not brake to late for that final chicane, do not brake to late for that final chicane; DO NOT BRAKE TO LATE FOR THAT FINAL CHICANE!!!'
Well, guess what I did? :banghead: it has haunted me for a while

Have to say that Watkins Glenn is an absolute jewel of a track. Really loving it. Might give it a go if work allows....
Love each and every corner of that track, and that fast first sector is amazing!

Yeah that was one of my weak point the average lap time. Quali times I’ve always been ok at, and can closely match my pre quali times but my average was poor. Most of the time I will do a custom race to get a feel for the tyre wear and grip and practice is key. I can spend a good a hour putting in laps round a track.
I would like PD to add a proper practice option to the Manufacture and Nations races, where it simulates tyre and fuel wear. The current practice session gives you a false out come really.

Thanks, but can’t blame the cold tyres. Checked the replay, it was a lap after the stop. Just a dumb error because I was fighting to avoid the track limit penalty every lap. Aston just hates the bus-stop chicanes, have trouble with Spa as well.

Not the view you want to find yourself with.

Yesterday I was quite happy to Win Alsace in C Class started from P2 and took the lead in the first Corner and stayed P1 .
Today Daytona was the exact opposite a real Nightmare .
Performed a good 1.45 and started from P2 did nothing wrong with my line and was kicked in the first fast corner after the start and dropped down to P9 .
I was real pissed but fought back to P5 .After that i was involved in a terrible accident in the fast chicane in about Round 6 .
There were 4 Cars involved and it ended up with a turner and a huge 5sec penalty for me .
I can not say it was justified didn’t saved the replay but after that i was on P16 .
My first impulse was rage quit but I resisted 😎
So I rolled on and 3 Laps before the end I was P9 .The Guy on P8 was overconfident in the fast left after the finish line so I could overtake him after he tried to go back on the street and we got a decent contact nothing serious.
After that he hit me in the next right with intention and took a 2sec pen for that .I managed to stay on track and he hit me with high speed in the next fast left again and I drove into Nirvana …after that I was P16 again and I rage quit 🤮

Gutted didn’t get home in time to race in this one. Was really looking forward to it. Felt like I had a huge chance. Love this combo and managed to put in a decent practice time. Even saw that id made it onto Kie25s stream leaderboard

Oh well, maybe see you in season 2 :)

Sorry you didn't get a chance to run this one. You were definitely quick! Probably could've won with that pace.

Hi all!
First post in a while.

Spent the last week trying to piece together a race story of the round at Monza. Trying to get my head around video editing software again.

My first race back in GTWS for +18 months - and I think it's the second split in APAC. A great race in the top 6 with Simon Bishop (Sidawg) and the Japanese driver in the McLaren.

Video quality is a bit rubbish as it's recorded straight out of the PS but had a fun time making it.

Me and @F1Bernardo had been looking forward to this race all week, and we'd had a friendly competition in FP over who could set the quickest time (and he beat me by 0.04s...). Our times were good enough to put us almost in the Top 100 overall so we had high hopes...

Slot 1: After my first several attempts I was looking at starting P5 (and had one of my laps ruined because someone had managed to spin at the first horseshoe and decided to rejoin the track at the apex right as I arrived...). Somehow on the final lap I managed to vault myself up to a 2nd place starting spot, 0.15s behind a Supra (of course).

I held the place for the opening lap, then lost the spot to a Jag and fell down to 3rd, where I stayed until Lap 4. The 2 ahead were pulling away from me, until the leader turned in too much at T1 on Lap 4 and met the tires at the end of the pit barrier... His resulting spin caused 2nd place to take evasive action around the outside, ruining his exit and putting me right on their bumper headed into the International Horseshoe. I sent it up the inside of the Jag and kept it pinned to the apex, and he almost lost the rear end on the exit, giving me the lead of the race, which I held I pitted at the end of Lap 11. By then, the Jaguar was once again all over my rear bumper, and took the lead back from me on the run to the bus stop on our out lap. Once again he pulled away, until he got a penalty at the bus stop on Lap 14, once again giving me the lead.

I held the lead for about a lap until the Jag went around the outside before T1, again dropping me to 2nd. Unbelievably, the Jag then ALSO proceeded to take T1 too tight and hit the end of the pit wall just like the Supra that led at the beginning of the race, so once again I was back in the lead, with a comfortable 2+ second gap back to the new 2nd place, a Z4, with 3 laps to go. Somehow, the Z4 closed the distance in those 3 laps to be in my slipstream as we returned to the banking for the final time. As we left the bus stop, he was within 0.3s, but now he had a penalty for cutting the chicane! That allowed me a bit more breathing room and I took the checkered flag in 1st place, less than 1s ahead of the hard-charging Z4. Unfortunately @F1Bernardo was run into a couple times and dropped back as a result, but still recovered nicely to a P6.

Based on how quickly multiple people either closed the gap behind me or pulled away once they were ahead, I was maybe the 6th quickest driver on pace, but literally everyone that had a shot to beat me made a mistake while I had a clean race. So it was a great result like I'd been expecting based on my FP times, but I had to work MUCH harder for it than I planned! Still, that makes my first-ever championship race win even sweeter! The 318 points also means I now have a 300+ point result in all 3 championships! My win also means I have yet to finish off the podium at the Daytona Road Course in a championship race (in 3 attempts, I have two 3rd's and a win).

I had great results in both races this weekend. First up was Nations, I really enjoyed the Gr.B daily on the CS tires so I was looking forward to this one. I only managed to qualify P7 so my hopes weren't too high. Race starts and I avoid all the carnage and find myself P4 after lap 1. It ended being a close race with the top 4 running bumper to bumper for a good chunk of the race. I made another two passes to finish P2 for 154 points, pretty happy with the result.

I also felt good for Manufacturers since I like the Corvette at Daytona. I get a decent run in qualifying for P5, then I actually get P4 as another driver dropped out. After a clean start I work my way around the 3rd place AMG pretty quickly, and start running down the 2nd place AMG. Unfortunately on lap 6 we run hard into the bus stop, he gets loose on the exit and I tap his left rear and send him around. I am able to cycle through pit stops and run clean the rest of the race for another P2 finish and 164 points. No hard feelings with the AMG driver, just a racing incident.

2022 GTWS Manufacturer Cup
Round 5 - Daytona Road Course
Group 3 Jaguar

Slot 1 - IT was a lobby full of unfamiliar names, so I didn't really know what to expect. Which is odd, because I am so used to seeing folks I race with all the time. Maybe thats a good thing, more participation? Anyway, qualified p7 with a 1:44.5xx which wasn't terrible but I was particularly happy with it. I would have to make due from the mid pack..never fun, lol. Make due I did. I followed a supra towards the front and several of us swapped positions several times. After slowly working my way toward the front, I ended up in a battle with a WRX for P3. Spoiler alert, I got 272 points and yelled/cheered a lot at the end of the race. :D

My first race at Daytona with the Jag. I arrived home late, so could only jump before the third slot, which I used as practice. F-type was quick here, in all races I did I was usually purple in all sectors until the bus stop. But I never managed to find the proper way around that bus stop at all, car (or maybe I) was very inconsistent there...

Americas Slot 3, wasn't really ready for a race, and hadn't done any laps other than TT with softs, so I ended up going off on my own. Used it as race practice. Managed to pass a couple of guys who also made mistakes up to P12. As I wasn't close to anyone ahead and I had enough gap behind (or thought I had, I just got it right by a few tenths) I pitted for softs at the end of lap 16 and took a cheeky fastest lap in the final one. My first fastest lap in GT7 GTWS. Finished P12.

Americas Slot 4, this one was completely ruined by who I think is the new GT7 alt account of the most famous dirty American/Portuguese driver. He punted me from behind to pass, then when I was re-overtaking in the straight, he turned right in the middle of the oval to stamp me against the wall. And after he went off himself, I re-passed and he punted me again a few corners later. Everyone was complaining about him in the post-race chat... impossible to race when that guy is around. :banghead: P8 finish, points weren't enough to count, so had to go again in the final slot...

Americas Slot 5, only proper race I had today, 269-point lobby I shared with @D_Dragline. Didn't manage to put together a good lap in qualy, but it was still enough for P5 on the grid, if I would have put best sectors of the session together in one lap, would have started 3rd.

Good start, but went wide on cold hards in the last right-hander of the infield, just touched the grass on the exit and had a big snap of oversteer. Mexican behind could not avoid me and lost a position due to my mistake (I apologized after the race). That mistake lost me the slipstream to the guys ahead. I was under pressure for many laps by a Brazilian in a WRX, who I later found out was on mediums. I was quicker for most of the lap, but he was much quicker in the bus stop due to the car and tyre difference.

On lap 7, he hit me in the entry to the bus stop, pushed me a bit wide. I think he slowed down not to overtake me, so I didn't immediately lose positions, but it was impossible for me to avoid a 0.5s penalty, which dropped me to P7, behind the Brazilian and a Colombian. That was a costly incident, as it put me in a battle I shouldn't have been in. Lost another two positions as I had to go wide into T1 to avoid a collision and I struggled on dirty tyres. So down to P9, it seemed like it was all going downhill. To make things worse, I planned to pit on lap 11, but had to go a lap earlier to minimize the time loss because I picked up another 0.5s penalty (this time, on my own) in the bus stop.

Exited the pits on P11. Gained a few places from people that hadn't yet pitted, from an incident ahead and the Brazilian, who spun on his own. Up to P6. Closed in on the Colombian ahead, but didn't have enough tyres at the end to challenge him.

P6 at the end. Without being hit in the bus stop and the couple of minor errors from my side, I think I would have been in the battle for 3rd that @D_Dragline had a few secs up the road (congrats for that P4!). Incident cost me 5th at the very least. 213 points scored, which aren't great for a combo where the Jag was quite competitive, but considering I just had one proper race and everything that happened in it, it could have been worse, I guess. Also, it means I now have scores over 200 on all 3 counting rounds.

I couldn’t do Nations this week as I was away, but I got home n time for the final slot of Manu. In the DBR9 I had good pace in FP but struggled a bit in qualifying. Started Q7.
First stint was on hards and I started to find a rhythm. Gradually I pulled a gap to the group behind and watched with disappointment as the Supras up front just obliterated everything else in a straight line.

I got a couple of track limit penalties at the bus stop which stopped me making much headway on the cars ahead. Around lap 7/8 it became clear that 2 of the cars ahead were running mediums as they pitted. When I went in on lap 11 I had worked up to p2. Rejoined in p6 with p5 just ahead and then strung some good laps together and on lap 16 managed to get past and into p5. Starting the final lap in striking distance of the podium I defended the inside at T1 against a Jag that got a run with the slip. He decided to try and go around the outside but then had a brain explosion and turned into my rear panel at the apex. He ended up off in the rubble and wall but I got unbalanced and clipped the invisible part of the pit wall. As we recovered a WRX got by both of us. I got back on track first and finished my lap without further incident for p6, but was livid about the Jag’s stupidity.

189 points and very much a case of what might have been.
