I haven’t scored much in the Nations, skipped a few rounds so just going to have some fun and enter the Shaguar.

What are you all using as car choices here, just along the same lines as the daillies?
Just going with what I’m comfortable with and that’s the Hyundai. Not the fastest compared to M6 or Genesis but I’ve used it all week and got decent results with it. I tried the M6 the other day and i just couldn’t get my head around the different gears for some corners

im going with the Genesis. Got decent times with it, like how it handles and concider it as a good test as i am thinking of signing with Genesis for the coming Manufacturers series...

Just had a shocker in the Stang from 9th to 12th and a couple more laps it might have been last, didn't make any major mistakes but just going backwards in a car that's been quick for me this week I hope they're not messing on in the background!

EDIT: Just realised I didn't skip refuelling so no wonder everyone was faster in the second half

Have you done a practice run yet? I was in Kie‘s live stream practice race yesterday and the car felt different to the daily race.

Ive just done a other practice run but with a custom race and what a joke the AI are. On professional and the AI are slow into corners, they all slow down when you pit so you lose zero time in pit stops and I hate that they is so little settings you can change. Why does online lobbies have the ability to set mandatory tyres, fuel stop speed and a few other things, yet on custom race the only thing you can change is the weather.

My strat is start on hards and hopefully avoid the contact, pit on lap 1 and go to the mediums. End of lap 9 pit for the softs. I’ve found the softs hold up well on the last stint and you can hopefully make up ground on the others on the slower tyres

Yeah, unless it's to unlock something or get a few credits, I'm just passing on the bot races to be honest.

EDIT: I get the challenges are entertaining for a lot of people but I don't know how you could single player only this game in the races, lol.

I hope to qualify in the front, so then it is 6S,7/8M/2/3H

I don't like to do only one lap on hards, in my practice runs the mediums are slower after about 7 laps, compared to hards that i have driven on for two or three laps. Maybe i am just not that good with tyre saving?

Fun “pleb league” race in the Jubilee Jag after not expecting much. Qualified 5th, half a second off pole. H2/S6/M8 strategy (would’ve pitted lap 1 but I messed up the entry and had to abort). Thought I could put in some quick clean air laps on the softs but caught the pack too quick, lost a bit of time. Good grip on the mediums all the way to the end, made some nice clean passes in sector 3. Finished on track in 7th, promoted to 4th after penalties.

The competitive part of me is saying I could win this if I use the BMW. My quali lap and race pace from the dailies is faster than anything in that round.

Watkins Glen is my favourite track since it's release in this game and I think that I am pretty good at at, at least for my level. It is sych a wonderfull flowing track with a very nice rhytm.
I usually do not do Nations but I could not resist driving a race on this awesome circuit...

C lobby, and i went out second in qualifying. first lap was not to bad with a 1.44.2 but my second lap felt really good. And it was good enough indeed, got a 1.43.7, very close to my best practice time. Usually I am way more off! Was pretty confident that it was sufficient and it was. A Portugese fellow was second with 1.44.3 in a Porsche. (daring choise!)

Start went okay and in the next laps i opened a bit of a gap of about 4 seconds, while trying to keep my tyres in good condition. After 5 laps my lead was decreasing though and it was only 2 seconds when I pitted for mediums in lap 6. The Porsche in second did one more lap.

Then something strange happened, the Porsche pitted in lap 7 and when it came back i suddenly had a huge lead, about 16 seconds on the car in second. It was cruising from that moment although i was a bit worried that different tyre strategies would have an affect.

But I ended with a win, and three cars got a 1 minute penalty for failing to put on the correct tyres. The Porsche ended second, about 16 seconds behind. my strategy of 6S/7M/3H went excellent, my fastest time on the hards matched the slowest time on the mediums!

* additional: checked the reply and the Portugese Porsche crashed in lap 7. shame for him, he had a really good chance of winning the race had that not happened. Certainly had the pase *

Bit of a rocky race this one. I felt my poor qualifying was coming, given the chance to run the track all week I've settled into a race pace that is great for consistency but is difficult to get out of and start pushing for fast times again, subsequently it had me starting 14th.

Picked up a 4 second penalty on lap 1 for a punt, totally missed the braking point at the right hander after the penalty line, just couldn't see it in the low light and went right into the car in front. My bad, total prick move and sadly the guy DNF'd later in the race after running at the back for at least half of it. Sorry dude.

Picked up a 3 second overtaking under yellow penalty later on as I passed two spun out ghosted cars, I'm supposed to just know which one the flag is for? Okay PD. And another 3 second pitting for the final time I must have crossed the line on the way in, disappointed after I'd been doing these without a problem for a while now. Bit of Karmic justice perhaps to take all that time off me.

Went for mediums 8 laps / hards 2 laps / softs 6 laps and felt this was a good balance for the Mustang. In the end taking 10th place and not able to do it again as no way to put off Stranger Things for the better half any longer.

Sidenote: cracking camera angle in the replay, giggidy giggidy

Met @RacingGrandpa in tonight's race. Decided to stick with my Hyundai as it served me well in the daily midweek.
Qualified P11 with my best lap of the week and finally into the 44's. Went for a 9M 1H 6S approach.
The Alfa in front must have been on a different strat as he left me go through the Chute on lap 1 and they quickly fell backwards. I got up to the back of a WRX by the end of the lap and it was a good battle for the next few laps. Finally on lap 6 or 7 they squirmed coming out of the Toe and I got them into the Heel.
1656702917178.png

I pulled a gap until the end of 9 where I pitted for my hard lap. They followed me in showing they were on hards themselves. frustrating 2 ways in the fact they held me up a little and that because they did an unnaturally long stint on hards they could have been out of my way quicker.
Next lap I pit again for my final stint on softs. I come out last but 1 but it doesn't matter as the others pit giving me P11 back. However my brain wonders that the race is going quite well and it looks like I'll beat Grandpa to the flag. He must have sensed this and sent a psychic attack my way. Coming out of the chicane the car spins into the wall. I reverse and get going again but slowly due to damage. Grandpa comes past me.
1656703187185.png

I know have to fight off a Spaniard. I run wide out of the 90 and pick up a half second penalty. I manage to stay ahead and regain my composure. I cross the line in P11 only to be promoted into 9th due to penalties including the WRX I fought. That's why they did a long hard stint as they thought it was a 2 stint race. I got my goal of top 10 but could have had an even better result (maybe a top 5) if I hadn't spun. (Shoulda woulda coulda.)
The replay showed I may have glanced the grass in the 3rd chicane apex. Pathetic physics if true.
Hope to have a more active season 2 of both championships.

You're in C?! I'm sure you won't be there for long. You're too good for that.

Went with the Genesis X for this one as I was quicker with it. Qualified 8th with a 41.9 which was 6 tenths off pole. Started on hards and pitted lap 1. Spent most of the race on my own other than the end of my mediums stint where a few went through on fresh tyres. In the end it was P5 after some misfortune for others, though might've had a chance at 4th if I pitted a lap earlier onto softs but ah well still a decent result.

Bugged Warm up, started 10 minutes later 👺

Started 6th, everything is fine aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the bus stop killed me with 2 laps to go 😵‍💫

Ended 9th :indiff: Still, a fun combo :)

Is this track broken? How do I avoid cutting pit lane penalty?
by not crossing the yellow line when entering and the same for going out.
When leaving keep to the right till the yellow line ends, a bit of steering to the right is needed when you are released and get control of the car again.
When entering keep right before the final corner and stay away from the yellow line on the left. Ride the curbs if needed. It is a bit of a difficult pit entry...

You're in C?! I'm sure you won't be there for long. You're too good for that.
I hope to be B again in a few races. At the moment I am not competing for a final score in the league so I am selecting the most fun races where I have a good chance for a good result. Think one or two more good races and I am B again and in GTL2

So hope to be in the same race as you soon, like we did in GTS at the RedBull Ring. It is always fun to be in the same race with another GT Planet member, although it is a bit of a pressure also, it is the last person you want to punt in to the gravel by accident....

Missed slot 1 by a few seconds tonight so had to sit and wait an hour for slot 2. In the mean time I watched a live stream of the race and it looked like tyres were causing issues for people. This then made me question my strat. I had decided my strat was to start on hards and pit lap 1 to mediums, pit end of lap 9 then for softs.

Hot the track in Hyundai Genesis as I’ve been having great results all week in Daily C and I know its good on tyres.
Quali. For some reason I decided to exit the pits asap, were as normally I wait for the majority to leave. This was a disaster, as, as soon as I made a gap the car infront the car behind would either overtake or just run right on my bumper. Only managed 1 flying lap as the others I was either compromised or made a small error. P13 was my starting position.

Race started and I’m driving to whats infront of me but P14 decides that they will drive there normal lines and comes charging in like a bull into T1. Luckily they was no contact as I was just far enough round the corner. End of lap 1 and as I’m slowing for the pit lane P14 again charging in like a bull slams into my rear, and I somehow manage to keep it in the lines. Running last and in clean air I can see the gap closing all the time to the back of the pack and the gap to the leader staying the same so I’m on the same pace as the leaders. Lap 7/8 cars infront all start to pit and my early stop gave me the jump and I’m up to P6 running 1/2 seconds behind P5. End of lap 9 P5 pits and I decide to stay out one more lap. Pit for the softs and still 1/2 seconds behind the car in front but the car behind had closed the gap. Last 3/4 laps due to cars ahead pitting, im in P5 with 3 cars running within 2 seconds of each other. P4 was struggling towards the end on mediums and my softs still felt great. P4 was defending really well and i just couldn’t make a pass work. I had a run into T1 and tried to out brake but they covered me off. Last lap I forced (or the tyres gave up) P4 into a mistake and they run wide at T1 and pick up a 0.5 pen. I still tried to make a pass before the penalty line but they defended really well. Got past at the pen and crossed the line in P4.

P13 to P4 with a clean race, I’ll take that result.

🚨 WIN!!!🏆 🚨

20220701_235344.jpg

Well, that was impressive. Barely got into 23h window after coming back home, had 20m to prep. Started 2nd but far from my best pre-race lap due to guy ruining my lap, second and third time me bottling. So I was still confident I had the pace going into the race.

It was a scuffle in the opening laps between Brit, German and myself. I was fastest but Brit took me out on overtake, German passed me so had to catch them again and I did. It was only 2-3s distance so wasn't a big deal. Brit was on softs to start like myself, German on medium. So going into the pits end of lap 6 (for mediums) I was leading and 5th when I went out but comfortable 2s in front of Brit and that gap was only growing in the second stint.

When Brit went into box again I had 4+s to him and then 7s in front of German. Tyres were done but I didn't want to pit before him and come out behind so waited until 15th lap and finished 7.1s in front. Hurrah!

EDIT: forgot to mention I had loads of practice in Genesis on WG in circuit experience and race C this week so this wasn't really out of the blue but only 4th win overall in this game. They surely don't come too often.

This was a proper grand race. I've said before how much I love the glen but man I love the glen.

Qualified P4 with a 1:42.4; pole was a 1:42.2. Had ultimately a very uneventful race, only action I saw was from differing strategies, but fighting through people on different tyres at different stages of wear throughout the race was exciting enough on a track like that. Went soft-med-hard, on a 6/9/1 strategy, could've probably done a 6/8/2 but with the Genesis I felt like my mediums were going strong enough to pull it off. Only gained me a couple of tenths though, I think.

Ending up finishing 4th, with there only being a small shuffle in the order - but a pretty fun race with 252 points to show for it is fine by me.

I believe @GOTMAXPOWER was in my race too (or at least someone with their name, lol) alongside a few names from my friends list so it was quite the familiar crowd.

Went again a couple of times.

Terrible in the BMW, awful qualifier and race, finished 10th.

Felt much better in the Aston DBR9, quali lap in the 44s, decent race pace on mediums and softs - only 11th.

That last race was my first time against some Bs - not quite alien but they definitely weren’t fully terrestrial either. Had a nice few laps battling with one of them in a Beetle.

My DR is almost at rank-up time so I may be joining the GT2 crowd next season. Help.

I was in the first slot with @OJBrit and started with another racer between us, as 13.
The first race lap I am always cautious with cold tires, especially on hards as I was here.
I have seen others for a short lap on hards and then change, but me being on the Glenn all week taught me that I am not very good at conserving tires.
So I changed from hard to medium on lap 6. , I had been moving up and down a few spots as some one overtook me ten thrashed or spun out.
On mediums I could use my practice this week and start to move up.
I was sorry to see OJBrit in trouble, I thoroughly enjoyed racing with ano6member from here.

Anyway, lap 11 I went to box for soft tires. Now I started really gaining places.
I finished as P7 and am pleased with it

Ran 4 races, won 3. Only on pole once, ran to lap 9 on medium, soft to 15, then the last on hards and had no problems. The only race I lost was because I bottled it myself getting bored in clean air. Not to sound arrogant, but the lap 1 hard stop strategy didn't make sense to me. Whoever did it had to spend the race in a bunch of traffic and dirty air, I was just maintaining pace and building easy gaps.
The lap 1 Hard stop was my only real strategy to move up as I didn't have a lot of pace. In my race the start glitch made it pay off huge as lap 1 was run under slow auto drive so I lost no time to the faster runners and more or less had a free pit stop. I started the "racing" portion of my race 19 seconds behind, but didn't have to gamble on track limits on Hards. Made huge time by being able to just drive and gain knowing everyone else had at least 1 or 2 more laps on hards where I was stealing seconds off them.

Luckily almost anytime I ccaught up to someone they were pitting so I kept getting clean air.

I know it wouldn't work for everyone but I basically won the lottery with it thanks to a silly bugged start, and I'll take it after having some terrible luck in rounds where I had a huge pace advantage.

You were in my race tonight. The 7pm slot. That race was a lot cleaner than I thought it was going to be.

Was happy to find pace in the BMW on a track I've struggled to get my head around so far. Started and finished in 5th. Ran as high as 2nd when the pitstops were playing out.

Was surprised to see the GT-R that started down in 12th come home for a podium. I never saw them in race, so they must've got past me during my last stop.

Sorry, I didn't notice. I've seen you in the past but I don't know who's who anymore with the nicknames.

Yeah I was honestly surprised at the BMW meta in the dailies in the lead up, as I figured this would be a GTR/Supra fest based on how things used to work in Sport. BMW was always a good low speed corner car if a bit squirrely on the throttle iirc.

Yeah GTR guy is actually very good, I think he was just going at it for fun because I don't think he put much effort into Q and obvs choosing a non-meta car. He did the same in another race.

The lap 1 Hard stop was my only real strategy to move up as I didn't have a lot of pace. In my race the start glitch made it pay off huge as lap 1 was run under slow auto drive so I lost no time to the faster runners and more or less had a free pit stop. Oh I totally understood it if you're starting low because pitting lap 1 gives you a tonne of clean air. I was qualifying top 4 and everyone around me just vanished after lap 1, meant I could just consistently do 44s and 45s for 9 straight laps just on my own. The front runners that pitted just got stuck in traffic amongst each other and I was coming out after my stops onto fresh softs with 6-7 second leads. Mind you these blokes were generally between 2-4 tenths a lap faster.

After having a mare of slot 1 (got spun out in T1 lap 1, ended up 20s behind the leader after the first lap, still got fastest lap), knew I'd have to run slot 2 and in qualifying punched out a 1:42.721 for third on the grid after not managing to get into the 42s all week. Thought I'd try something different and start on mediums, after the top 2 pitted I led for four laps till I pitted for Hards. Did a silly and went over pit lane limits, came out on Hards for a few laps (being on controller makes me wear out tyres real quick) made some positions as people came in for their 2nd stop. Had a fellow Kiwi following me for most of that time (it was real close for overall points between me and 3 others for top NZ gt2) come in for my last stop onto softs for that late race push and.....pit lane penalty again so with 2 laps to go it was about a 4 second gap with me sitting in 6th. I'm thinking this will get me 2nd locally then coming into the last corner theres a yellow flag with a spun car and the guy I'm trying to beat with a silly 1 min penalty for tyres. Get 4th at the death, and without those 2 silly penalties I would of been in with a shout at a podium.

It was just enough to give me 4th Oceania and 1st for NZ for GT2 this season and in doing so raised my driver rating to A and hopefully to jump into the big boy league of GT1 next season. Going to be tough going up against the fast guys with wheels but hopefully I can get faster

A 42.7 is easy top 5 pace in the lobbies I was in, GT1 DR A. You'll be fine.

That was a decently fun one. Q'd in 5th. Did the 1/6/9 strategy. Got a 1/2 second penalty running wide in T1. Entered the pits REALLY carefully both times and probably lost a good couple seconds there.

Probably should have been 6th but ended up in 7th.

Would have put you with the guy who ran away in my race in GT1 as well. You'll do fine up here. Us controller drivers are holding up decently enough in most of the splits and I've raced you and seen the pace. You'll be fine
