That was a decently fun one. Q'd in 5th. Did the 1/6/9 strategy. Got a 1/2 second penalty running wide in T1. Entered the pits REALLY carefully both times and probably lost a good couple seconds there.

Probably should have been 6th but ended up in 7th.
Finished 8th

I'm totally surprised how many got 1 min penalty 6 in a 14 car field. There must be a basic instruction issue or a read issue

You ran the exact opposite strategy that I did, I ran hard on the final lap and we still ended up together. I was also really careful with the pit lines and still got a 3 second penalty on the last one, guess I just touched the yellow line slightly too much, definitely didn’t go over it. Almost brought me back into your clutches

I was sweating when I finished that race

Final results for this first part of the season in the Nations Cup (I skipped the gr. B race) :D

When you’re on a purple lap in top split but totally bottle it once you realize it’s purple. I think I was on for a 1:41.2 or .3 here, which would’ve been pretty competitive in just about any lobby and is a couple tenths quicker than my Race C qualy lap. I’m the king of throwing away purple laps ffs.

:dunce:

I wish whoever at PD designed the WG race was also allowed to do Daily Race C. Fun was had.

IMHO this round is what Race C should be every week. Factor in weather/night as well and there ya go.

Race C should not be just a sprint.

Just my 2c.

Manufacturers at Suzuka in the Vantage. My pace at Suzuka has been pretty good generally so I was hopeful of getting the 178pts needed to improve my score.

Completely terrible in qualifying. Just couldn’t hook up a lap. Q13 in a 15 car field.

Put the hards on and decided to no stop. Started cautiously to avoid ruining my race on the cold tyres. Tucked in behind p11 and 12 until Casio where p12 punted p11 into next week. Gained a spot and the punter in p11 got a 4 second penalty. Then gained another spot as someone pitted on lap 1. I followed p10 and saved fuel until the penalty zone where I took the place. Lost a spot when an Atenza pushed to pass through T1. I was happy to slot in behind him for a few laps and save as much fuel as possible. Then lap 5 he made a mistake out of Degner 2 and I got a run up the inside towards the hairpin. He swerved heavily in the braking zone and I had to take evasive action to avoid contact. No damage done, but a lesson learned about his “style”. He then did exactly the same when I had a bit more speed coming to Casio on the same lap. We picked up a couple of places as the pit stoppers went in and started lap 6 in p9.

2 more laps just sitting behind him as he constantly tried to block and I had had enough. With excess fuel left I decided to actually put him under pressure and see if he could handle it.

For the next lap I sat right on his bumper, pretended to stick a nose in here and there and let him swerve and defend to his heart’s content. Then, at Casio, he got flustered, tried to get a big run out and got a track limit penalty. This clearly destroyed his concentration and I got by cleanly when he went wide at Degner.

P8 then became p6 as 2 more pitted. I held it comfortably and crossed the line p6 for 220 points. Good race and really happy with how I drove.

One and done.

GOT the 155, which, looking the leaderboard, suited well for Suzuka

GOT Pole Position

GOT 3 seconds of penalty because I really messed up the entry to the pit

The Swiss who I was battling for the victory GOT disconnected

GOT the victory

Haven’t participated in any GTWS races at all before Watkins Glen yesterday, but I’ve got covid now and am isolating in the game room…conveniently, so decided to learn the track and give it a shot. Ran every slot except for the 2nd one. Got a couple of P2’s and got murdered twice in top split by overzealous drivers who decided they would push their way through on softer tires instead of overtake properly. Here’s a video of my first attempt in 2nd split. It wasn’t the quickest race but it had the most action on the last stint. Some good battling was had. Enjoy!

So I did decent at Watkins Glen, two 5th places and 170+ points in the second one (which is a lot for me) despite a "crossing pit lane line" penalty. Overall good season, 5th in my local region, 30th in my country and 220th at EMEA, which is a huge improvement from my Sport days when I attempted Nations 4 years ago (I was like 12th in the region and in the 700s at EMEA).

Today I gave Suzuka a shot with barely any practice, did awful in the first race as I had no clue what the strategy was gonna be (focused all my practice on Watkins Glen) and went for a no stopper in the Mustang so... yeah. In the second race I went for a 1 stop, started 9th, made my way to 6th... and crashed on pit entry. Got stuck sideways. Got teleported into the track again... with no fuel for the full lap.

I've called it quits for now. I want to give it a rest till next season, I will probably open a second account just to run Sport Mode races without having to worry about points and getting angry at myself when I mess up or don't place well. During my second Watkins Glen race I had a great battle defending for 5th and realised I hadn't had much fun these past few weeks and often raced nervous and/or angry.

Sorry because this was more of a therapeutic rant than a race report, but I had to get this stuff off my chest. I might post some season highlights in a video, it's always cool to see the replays you guys post.

Suzuka then, manufacturers race in the GT-R, been busy the past few weeks on weekend, so I've missed a few GTWS races. But today I had time to race. Qualified P7 with a lap of 2.10.5. Not bad, a time I thought I should be able to do in practice but I wasn't able to do (had only a 2.10.79 in practice). Still could have been a 2.10.3 on the last flying lap, but I messed up slightly 130R and the last chicane.

Race then, quiet going in P7 first 4 laps. I noticed leaders escaping, but I figured out that some of them probably did not fuel save, unlike me. I used fuel mode 5 in first sector and fuel mode 2 & 3 on the straights, sometimes mode 1 when defending or trying to pass. On lap 5 I went wide in the sharp right hand corner before the hairpin, cost me 2-3 sec and down to P8. After that I was able to stay within the drivers in p6 & p7 who were probably fuel saving as well.

End of lap 8, two medium running non fuel savers pitted, up to p6, Spanish and UK drivers fighting ahead so I am able to close in slightly on them and within slipstream range. Lap 9-10 apparently I am using my fuel more aggressively than the Spanish and UK drivers, because all of a sudden I have slightly more pace than both of them. I pass the Spaniard on the final chicane on lap 9 and I use fuel mode 1 to defend my position into t1 succesfully. On lap 10 I pass the UK driver before 130R, P4.

On lap 11 I go a bit too aggressive on fuel when the opponents have the slipstream help. A driver messes up on lap 12, P3. I notice I only have 3% of fuel exiting the hairpin where GT-R is slow, and I am forced to use fuel mode 5 & 6 rest of the race and defend a lot. Somehow I am able to hang on to a P3 even after 130R, but I notice my fuel went to 0%, so I could not change to a richer fuel mix from mode 6 for the short straight before the finish line, because I was fearful of dropping to a P6 if I ran out of fuel before the finish line. I take the inside line but I just fall down to P4 before the finish line.

Still very happy with the result, Suzuka is one of my favorite tracks and it showed, so often I get TOP5s there. Also a nice score of 176 and I improve my final score for Manufacturers Cup stage 1 by 22 points so that was nice.

415th position in GT1 EMEA manufacturers. Nations I finished 264th. Felt like I left some points out there in Nations since I had to skip two rounds. But two solid seasons.

A nice way to end the season. Getting better at racing in the pack but still don’t have the consistent pace to get near a win. Will miss the Astons if I switch next time.

Also, very weird to race group 4 without any Alfa 155s ramming everyone into oblivion.

For some reason, while I started playing a bit over ten minutes before 1900 EDT, I wasn't actually able to enter that slot, and I had some stuff going on tonight, and I was too tired for the final slot at 2300. So in conclusion, I only entered two out of six rounds for the Nations Cup, but I still got 2nd in my state's GT2 class, missing 1st by a mere five points. In retrospect, I could've claimed 1st in my state's GT2 class even if I came in dead-last at Watkins Glen, but it's alright. I'll definitely try to get 1st in my state's GT2 class next season, and hopefully the rules will be announced this week.

I mean, I just wasn't in the mood to enter the Gr.2 race at Autopolis, and the supposed bugs for that very first round at Suzuka put me off from trying that. And then for the fourth round, where you had Gr.B cars at Alsace, I was working an evening shift. But next time, I won't be messing around.

Really terrible night at Watkins Glen. Found the track quite enjoyable, but not knowing the track beforehand and with very little testing, I was struggling for pace compared to those who had been busy with Daily Race C. Only got into the 42s.

Raced two slots, got my race ruined when I was spun around by a Colombian in the first one, and finished 11th. Then my Internet died on lap 1 of the final slot... :banghead: So DNF and 0 points for me in the end. With my DR taking some beating lately, these two meant I descended to DR A for the first time since getting to A+. :boggled:

Needed a good result... so this unfortunately meant I ended up with one weak score, so I went from 30th to 41st in the CSA standings. :( At least, I can now say I was the top A-rated driver in the standings...

I think they toss lowest time and highest time and you get an avearge

Well I tried the no stop Hards w/ fuel conserving strat for Suzuka. It was garbage. I Q'd in 2nd place and I crossed the finish on fumes in 11th and the car lost power coming out of the last turn.

Rubbish

Check the rules and the rules from the last 2 test series.
I still don't know what this is referring to, but nothing in the GT World Series works this way:
think they toss lowest time and highest time and you get an avearge
Could you elaborate on what times you think are tossed and what's averaged, because I have absolutely no idea.

For reference, I check all the rules from all the series dating back to the first one, because I kinda... write all this site's news articles on the subject, and go to all the live events (well... most of them).

Managed a victory in slot 3 tonight. Total time was 27:07.xxx with a fastest lap to boot.

Where can we see the results after the championship ends? Is there a website for it or something?

I have never took part of the world series before tonight. Had my first run with my G70 Gr4 at Suzuka, qualified in 2nd place. FM1/RH all race and made one stop at lap 8. Easy win.

2022 GTWS Manufacturer Cup - Round 6
Suzuka
Group 4 - Jaguar

Slot 1 -
I was just hoping to improve my points total in the Jaguar for this race. My pace was OK, my fuel saving was OK, I just needed to be patient and smart to get the result I needed. I qualified with a 2:09.5xx. Only good for p11 so I decided to run a no stopper. My no stop and 1 stop were pretty darn close in total pace but I didn't want to mess with traffic if I did a 1 stop. No issues at the start into turn 1. In fact, the first 5 laps or so were pretty ho hum, just saving fuel and staying ahead of the fuel map so I had some geaux juice later on if I needed or to race it out in the last two laps. Then on lap 6, the field started flying off track. Picked up a few free greddy passes in just a couple corners. Then coming out of Casio Triangle on lap 10, I picked up a free spot and made a nice run to pick up two more! Finished P5 and snagged 161 points. 45 more points than my lowest counting round!
