Are you sick of the "I have a mature life" argument?

Who ever said anything about wanting the game to be easier? It's p!ss easy as it is.
I think most people want the game to remain interesting for a longer time.

At least if they expect you to really collect more than a hundred nice cars without having to do every A-spec event a hundred times over. And that's where priorities, such as a life, a wife and a job come into the picture.

nice sig - XD

If you do the math for what you have accomplished since the game came out in November, the levels, the cars, that is hundreds of hours if you did it legitimately... including the paint drying excitement of training your B Spec driver(s), unless you have 1226 Suzuki Cappuccinos in your garage, it has taken millions and millions and millions to accrue your stable of cars. Including dozens and dozens of hours running 100's of grinding races to earn cash... SNORE SNORE SNORE... There is no skill in winning Indy with the X2010 100 times for cash. NONE.

I would rather spend those hours honing skills in other portions of the game, driving and collecting favorite race cars. Working to improve my lap times and understanding of tuning on a car.

Look at the number of wins you have compared to the number of races you have entered and I can guarantee you it is nowhere near a real life winning percentage. Why? Because most of us have an advantage in every race we run because it is fun to race but more fun to win. The AI is slow, and very early on the brakes, they don't fight for position nor do they retaliate for banging or hard racing. So, now that we know it's a game, there is no "right way" to play it. If there were, you wouldn't have options, you would have a strict menu of accomplishments needed to proceed through each and every phase.

I applaud the dupers and traders, of which I am proudly both, 13 garages with more than $10,000,000 cash for each ID on my machine, and I raced those races and I earned that money and I bought myself some very cool cars, and I had one heck of a lot more fun than running one race over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again for a million bucks....

PD and Sony could have shut down eBay selling with a simple VERO complaint to eBay. eBay's own rules actually state that this content, video game DLC, is NOT ALLOWED to be sold on their site. Anyone complaining about virtual content being offered could result in auctions closed and users suspended. So that was not their motivation.

Frankly I see nothing more than being punitive as motivation for these limits. Another example of catering to the lowest common denominator. People who were too "honest" (errr....stupid) to find away around grinding for peanuts, got upset when they realized that their buddies were stacking up multi-million dollar cars like cord wood without wasting their lives running in circles.

They spent 5 years making about 25% new content, and shoving in the other 75% as leftovers from GT4. So maybe PolyDigital Phonies just feel like everyone should waste 75% of their gaming time trying to get 25% of enjoyment out of the product.

By the way, I discovered video games in 1976 when I first played Pong. So welcome to all you teen, 20, 30, and 40-something late comers to the video game world... :-)

VERY well said. Wake up PD or there will only be "the lowest common denominator" buying GT6, because you pissed everyone else off.

Diesel Pump

Wow, now the preaching starts... I play when they sleep, and/or when they are at school, yes, I'm self employed so can spare some time, no slave chains around me, you know...

You will have chains one day man

the chains of time spare no man XD

Any post critizing how others play the game or want to spend their time is worthless.

And any game developer trying to control how I play MY GAME that I bought with my hard EARNED money is too. LET ME TRADE CARS HOW I WANT TO PD ! ! !

For the info, I'm 37 ... and I'm A-Spec 40 and B-Spec 40 now, with 1226 cars. 99% complete, missing just two trophies, working on the others now... Yeah, no problem, family's cool too, really cool, there is time for everything in life people.

Really something to be proud of at your age... 👍 YAY! Can anyone offer this man an eCookie?

no need to take a swipe at people just because you were born before them.

If your personal life doesn't allow you to do something, you usually just don't do it.

No, this is just a ridiculous argument (regardless of whether you were joking or not, because other people do say this). You bought what they were offering, and when you bought it you agreed that they can do what they like with it. Do you complain that you can't use the G11 when you're just starting out in Black Ops? Or do you complain that you don't start at the end of Dead Space 2? No, of course not, because you know that you need an incentive to play the game. If you can start a new account on GT5 then trade to get the cars you want without ever racing, what's the point? PD made the mistake of including gifting and now they're probably really, really regretting it. They should have seen it coming a mile away. That, and the birthday gift feature...

I have never, in my life played a game where I had to repeat a level multiple times to get to the next level. That is the reality with this game. They dropped the ball when it comes to content, and as a result, to complete the game, you must redo events over and over again. If I had to spend the amount of time grinding playing new events, and different tracks, with increasingly difficult AI opponents, this game would be the best there is. But they didn't do that. In the 9 years since GT4 came out, you would think that they would have understood this, and built the game that way. So to answer the OP, I don't care what you think about us with lives. I'm not going to redo things just to get to the top over and over. That is stupid. make the game more involved, so that it is a challenge and lasts longer.

unless of course the 'something' is GT5... in which case everything else goes out of the window, seemingly

my birthday is soon - what happens!!!?

Still can't tell sincerity from joking, too tired, so I'll assume you're being sincere: You get a gift car ticket from the year you were born. People start up new accounts with false birth years to get the classic Le Mans cars, the Miura, possibly F1 cars, etc. This pretty much devalued the most expensive cars in the game because anyone who wanted one could just get one for free, resulting in people with legitimately purchased ones being unable to trade them for anything good and a few people getting kicked from lobbies for using them.

Edit: Also, it's my birthday on the 22nd, pretty sure I'll get something I already have...

I wasn't joking. I bought a game that advertises 1000+ cars on their TV commercials and even on the back of the box. I like to tune the cars and play MY game with them, not grind for hours on end. I do not mind having a system of leveling up, but I don't have hundreds or even thousands of hours to grind just so I can play with only a fraction of those 1000+ cars that were advertised. PD should spend their time fixing a badly balanced game instead of taking away the only feature that allowed me to use most of the content I paid for. I want to spend more time racing the way I find fun and less time grinding for cars to race, whats wrong with that?

Nothing is wrong with that, but the argument that you paid for it and therefore should be allowed to dictate how you play it is just completely absurd, that's all. Duping was an exploit, that much was clear from the fact that the game didn't want you to do it from the start, now they're just stopping people from being able to exploit it. Modern Warfare 2 has been hacked to pieces since the PS3's root key was released, IW are patching it now, or soon, or have patched it, I can't remember... Anyway, just because duping is an exploit for an offline game and a lot of people loved it, doesn't mean it wasn't an exploit.

Also the argument that you want to get your money's worth (paraphrased) is kind of contradictory, if you bought Dead Space 2 and could start at the end, would you? No, you want it to last, right? Think of the extended playing time you get from having to put work in, then consider how much you paid for that. I guess not everyone sees it that way, but if you paid £40 for a game that lets you finish it in three months rather than nine, wouldn't you be annoyed? The way I see it, if you had all the cars and all the money you want with which to tune said cars, you probably wouldn't find much of a reason to keep playing, and then you'd be playing something else. Frankly I'm ecstatic that I paid £60 for a game (Collector's Edition) back in November and I still haven't finished it, not by a long way. I paid £50 for Black Ops and I've hardly touched it since November, and it came out in... Oh, November. Of course, this is all personal preference and whatever, but I hope you see what I mean.

I totally agree that GT5 is designed pretty poorly, but other methods of procuring expensive cars do exist.

Like I said, I don't mind having to put some work in, but I do not have the time to put in hundreds or thousands of hours of grinding to be able to get a small handful of the cars I would like to race with. So even though you don't understand, if I had all the cars and all the money, I would want to keep playing even more. Because I could then spend my time tuning and racing those cars instead of grinding (or letting Bob grind). I only have 5 or 6 hours a week to play video games so I want to be able to play not work. I work enough in REAL LIFE. Also, the argument that I want to get my money's worth (paraphrased) is not contradictory, I bought a racing game, not a grinding game. I am glad that you feel you are getting your money's worth from the game by playing it the way you like, I just want to keep trading and racing the expensive cars because that is what I like.

I mean this with no disrespect and I don't really care either way as I see both sides of the story , but I really wish you people would understand that when you handed over your hard earnt ££/$$ for this product you were merely buying the licence to play it and that means in what ever way PD deem fit for there game to be played, you do not own the game 👍

I may not own the code, but I do own the right to play the game I paid for, not some version that PD keeps stripping functionality from. If they continue to take out the features of the game I like then I have a right to be upset. I also will never buy another PD game again for fear of them taking out the things I bought the game for. I'm not just "whining" here, I hope someone from PD may read this and start fixing the problems with the game instead of taking out the things many people like about GT5.

Everyone has toys of one kind or another. Toys require time to play. Whether your toy is a monster truck or a motorcycle or a deck of cards or a TV game does not matter.

Ultimately, each of us decides how we spend our own time, which in turn determines the people and relationships and other things in our lives. How can anyone argue how another person spends their time? Live and let live. As I see it, problems arise when someone spends way too much time on just one thing, causing imbalance. Then they whine that there's nothing else in their life. They need to STFU and deal with it -- either change their behavior or continue on they way they have been, one way or the other. Just take some action and quit whining.

I agree, by trading for the cars I can't afford, or do not have the time to play hours and hours for and so called "earn" the hard way I am trying to have fun with GT5 and have time for my family, work, other interests, etc. That is the balance I was able to achieve by trading for cars. Now PD wants to make it so I can't, so I will miss out on a large part of what could be a great game. I guess that's my problem, but I don't have to like it and I don't have to buy any more of PD products. That, my friend, is their problem that they are creating. I am not alone in this opinion by far.

You wont miss out on anything though m8 , it just means the game will last longer for you, this game only came out the later part of December surly people want it to last longer than just two months?

I'm in the same boat us you like most of us are but i`ll just play as and when I can collecting the cars I want as and when I can, I guess it just does not bother me I'm in no rush , it can take me all this year it doesn`t matter to me, why rush?

If that is how you like to play the game I don't have ANY problem with that at all. I wish you the best and I hope you enjoy every hour. I am only making the point that I would like to trade for expensive cars and play with them now, not later. That is how I want to play the game. I guess I can until the 3rd, then PD will take that away. After that I will probably only play with the few expensive cars that I have, and only get a few more because I will never have time to grind enough to get even half of the expensive cars. Like I said, my loss.

Would it be safe to assume that people who are sick about the mature life argument are immature?

You're right, I did misunderstand you slightly, I apologise. However, at the end of the day, PD are fixing a problem with GT5 which will make it harder to exploit, just like how GT has always been. I guess you could be new to the GT franchise and didn't know it has always been about grinding, but the fact is that is how it is and has always been, and that has been GT5's biggest problem since the beginning; they market it at everyone, saying how it's an amazing racing game, and totally neglect to mention the massive amount of time it takes to really get anywhere and the fact that it's structured like an RPG. They also forgot to mention that when you level up you unlock one or two new races, that the reward system is just weird, the AI is no different and there are far fewer things to do than before, BUT it does have a pretty spartan online component.

So basically I don't know what you knew about GT before GT5, but if you had played GT4 and completed 90% (ish) of it, you would have seen GT5's time consuming structure a mile off...

If you don't like it, don't read this forum.

Simple.

Otherwise, go whine to your wife about it during all that free time you have.

I am new to the GT franchise and this is not a way to get new people interested in the game you are selling, PD. I don't mind the RPG elements of the game, just balance it better so people with less time to spend playing can enjoy the game too. That isn't asking for too much, there are plenty of ways to keep a game interesting without all the boring grinding.

Wow the OP goes right against the view that all mexicans are "lazy, feckless, flatulent, overweight, leaning against a fence asleep looking at a cactus with a blanket with a hole in the middle on as a coat." (Richard Hammond Top Gear)

They actually have time to play and complete GT5 whilst ignoring their family...Awesome!!

"Are you sick of the "I have a mature life" argument"

No, but I am sick of having a mature life.

Amen to that lol!

I'm 30 years old, a bank manager with all the pressures and responsibilities that comes with and GT5 is my favorite way to relax after a hard days work.

Some of my colleagues go to the pub, other go to the gym, others beat their wife's (nah I kid!) me, PS3 and GT5 all the way.
