It makes me question what are they actually working on with each patch, 34 days since the last one, and really just the damage affect has been fixed a bit, and in car textures.....Is that all?

From an optimistic point of view theory... they are working on a complete redesign of the UI for consoles that will include private/custom online lobbies, custom button mapping, wheel settings/calibrations.. etc that is coming with patch v1.13

The realistic point of view - this is their actual pace and it will take many more months and patches to get the above completed.

Pessimistic point of view theory - they are taking notes on how Kazz runs things over at PD and are really in no rush.

Is it just me or is that 911 GT3R really hard to drive? Yes, i'm quick on Nürburging GP but the car seems a bit nervous on Nordschleife. In fact, i'm loosing its tail quite often. Oh, and that car hates curbs more than anything else on this planet -.-
Agreed, the car hates all the bumps at the Nordschleife!

Definitely super nervous over bumps and kerbs. I have had to reduce the fast bump to minimum, change tire pressures, raise ride height, and lower the rear ARB to 0. Not enjoying the car much. It's fast, but not easy.

I don't know if anyone noticed that the update is bigger than first announced. It's a good handful improvements, but still none of the bug fixes I had hoped to see. At least they've cooked a decent update, so it seems like I'll get the third Porsche DLC after all. :)

UPDATE V 1.12 RELEASE NOTES

* Added support for DLC content: Porsche Pack #3
* FREE bonus car! – Porsche Macan Turbo
* The damage and repair system has been improved. As a result, collisions will now appear more realistic
* Various 3D models have been tweaked and improved, including that of the cockpit instrumentation
* Reviewed damage curve and repair times
* Fixed wing damage model on Nissan GTR
* Fixed graphics kersCharge and kersInput for ERS system
* Fixed wrong online pit crew locations
* Improve AI cut detection

* 15 events for The Red Pack DLC
* 13 events for Porsche Pack Vol. 2 DLC
* 12 events for Porsche Pack Vol. 3 DLC

Did someone say they tweaked the saturation levels of the colour palette?

I mentioned that. For example, mid cloud textures do not seem quite as warmly colored during late afternoon sessions as they did before (16:00 - 18:00). I may be wrong but what do you all think?

Chalk another "whoa, way too bouncy" up here for the GT3 R. The curbs are more like land mines.

The GT3 R is a touch slippery but if I stayed off the curbs it was fun. The cup car is actually more compliant and more fun.

The 908 is neat, but holy, I could drive that 917 for hours and hours. Didn't really expect this. My only gripe is that the engine makes a slight synthetic sound, not quite as burbley and good as the 908.

I was also surprised at how light the 911 Turbo felt. Good stuff.

Was hoping they toned down the grass. Even on a calibrated screen it feels a bit too green.

The PC has a colour saturation slider.

The one on the right looks better.

This looks even better. Apart from the silly sun flare.

Thats something that bugs me - it looks like a PS2 game in the mirror. Why is it so hard to get decent graphics for this?

...because it'll kill the consoles framerate. Its another huge thing to render. The more mirrors, the more it has to render therefor the more it'll destroy your framerate. Can't have both unless its got good hardware.

Even on RBR they are bumpy. I've been playing on RBR for the last two nights (with DS4) and never noticed some of the bumps that i did today. Love it.

Reg. The Maserati 250F's, there is bearly any sound on downshifts. So much so that i think I've not pressed downshift when i have. Is this a bug or are they meant to be like that?

Engine related too. Project Cars on console (speaking from PS4 experience) has weather, multiple light sources, sharp mirrors and arguably just overall better graphics, while - I believe - still managing similar framerates unless it's heavy rain with lots of other cars around. Looks like Project Cars 2 will be another further step up even on consoles.

I do however find the actual pleasure of driving substantially higher in Assetto Corsa, so for all of its flaws (just like Project Cars has a range of different ones) Assetto Corsa is the sim I currently spend most of my time with.

The GT3 R is best on super flat tracks like Red Bull Ring. On Imola I was having such a terrible time being consistent and not losing it on bumps and kerbs. It's terrible because there's so much speed in the car that is lost because of bumps. My best time at Imola is a depressing 1:46.5. At the Red Bull Ring I achieved an impressive 1:30.659 by using a modified version of my Imola setup.

The GT3 Cup car is not as quick but it certainly is so much easier to drive than the other race car around bumpy tracks.

As for the 908 and 917k, they are so fun to drive at Silverstone 1967. The 908 is trickier to drive than the 917k but I could drive those for days.

I still think the RS 60 is the best Porsche of the three packs. I wish more historic road/race cars will show up in the future. In my opinion, the 911 turbo is SOOOOOOOOO boring. Trying to wrestle the 250 f or the sauber c9/962 is much more pleasing. Here's to the classics.

I get what you're saying about the classics being involving, but the 911 Turbo S is already one of my absolute favourites from the three Porsche packs. The power it distributes through its 4WD drivetrain is just right for a different kind of tail happiness. It's a great car!

Ha! Totally wasn't thinking about the 4WD until reading your post. I had it on Mugello with TC off and street tires, was wondering why the heck it wasn't over steering more. But it was definitely oversteering. Fun indeed.

If I had to pick one more P car for this game, it would be a hard call between 993 Turbo and this, but would have to be this (NSFW):

Ha, I think this is because the car spawns above the ground and then drops. For some reason I always look forward to that. It might also have something to do with odd alignment readings. Might need to roll a little for things to settle out like when you let a car down from jacks.
On some PC mod tracks the car falls from an insane height! I can't believe the car doesn't explode. I'm assuming that the modder didn't set the track properly in Assetto Corsa space. It doesn't happen often and it was probably on a poorly made conversion or something.

Did they change the tire model?
From what I remember, Stefano said that the Tire Model will not be changing for quite some time. They're still in the process of upgrading all remaining cars to TM10.

On PC we have a few settings for the quality of mirror reflections. In truth, they're not reflections at all, but more like little TV screens displaying a feed from rearward facing cameras.

I know what you mean. I'm by no means a great driver, but I still have a blast trying to push those older cars to the limit. I nearly pooped my pants the first time I drove the 250 F cars. I think the 6-cylinder is more unruly than the 12-cylinder...which seems strange. It's probably a gearing thing. The 6 cyl is a 4 speed while the 12 cyl is a 5 speed, if I remember correctly.

When I had last driven them for the first time with the stick versus paddle shifters, wow! With the paddle shifters I was oversteering on every straight and always over correcting. Yet those cars became so much smoother with the clutch and stick. I was hardly correcting the wheel on any parts of the straights. I was like what the hell and had to double check there were no driver aids on. There were none. I could not work out how the cars became so stable. They were so planted.

Cannot wait to get my rig back up and I'll be able to heel/toe them.

Big grins from all those pops and crackles though!

That's interesting. I wonder if anyone else has had the same experience with using the stick shift versus paddles? I'm such a wuss I usually only drive the 250 F's on the full 60's Monza. Not so many turns. :sly:

I usually put them on the full Red Bull and old 67 Silverstone circuit since I had been testing dialling in the fine road surface down to 10C. Those two tracks always felt slippy in the past.

Some 911 from the 1990s would definitely be the perfect way to round off the current selection. Then again, no one said they can't sneak even more Porsche models into future DLCs revolving around more general themes.

I wouldve thought by this generation it could handle it. So when will we get it looking decent...PS6? :ill:
