Hi Joe,

with this latest VIR update, are these skins still mandatory? Sorry, lost the tracker with it recently.

View attachment 1325455

Folder Seasonal textures also include a weird file?!

View attachment 1325454
You can probably ditch all of those skins unless you like them better. They should still work except for some potential lighting issues since a lot of the shader values have been changed.

As for the weird file, it's needed to call up the changing seasonal textures if you want to use them. It's a trick that @The Vampire taught me on how to make an ext_config file into a track skin. Instead of having that code in the track's ext_config file and requiring people to enable\disable that feature by editing the track config, they can just enable\disable a track skin. Much easier on the end user.

Regarding the disturbing unrealistic reflections from road/curb paint etc. inside the cockpit :

the move meshes to COCKPIT_HD (as proposed earlier by Tummie555) is unfortunately not a one-fix-for-all ...

Some parts can't be added to the COCKPIT_HD because they then become static when they shouldn't be (eg a chrome part of a steering wheel... )
For some mods in some cases it just doesn't fix it at all either and the reflection remains...
(for example on the WSC60 Ferrari 330 P4 Spyder the LOD_A_EXT_SEAL mesh )
1707074204407.png

I had to revert to lower the reflectiveness of the material.

This with a trick I picked up here in the forum (forgot who shared it though):

[SHADER_REPLACEMENT_...]
ACTIVE=1
MATERIALS = Black Plastic
PROP_... = fresnelC, 0.01
PROP_... = fresnelMaxLevel, 0.02

(add this at the end of the ext_config.ini in the extension folder of the car)

[SHADER_REPLACEMENT_...]
ACTIVE=1
MATERIALS = Black Plastic
PROP_... = fresnelC, 0.01
PROP_... = fresnelMaxLevel, 0.02
Sorry... I don´t know if I'm doing something wrong... I copy-pasted literally this code at the end of the ext_config.ini of the WSC60 Ferrari 330 P4 Spyder and nothing happens; the unreal reflections continue to be seen inside the cockpit. Do I have to modify anything else?

Hello! How is everyone? I wonder what's wrong with the Showroom quality? Thank's.

Awesome version of the track but the infield is way to bumpy should be much closer to the oval. Also minor gripe but the inside of turn 7 looks like a jungle when there are only 3 or 4 big oak trees.

My version adapted for the Sunbeam Tiger (Monte Carlo 1965)

That's kind of a special car-case, since it doesn't have it's own .kn5 model. It borrows everything from the Kunos P4, which can technically be adjusted in 3ds. But that's not legal... Also, there's another weird thing with that car, because the STEER_HR is already inside of the COCKPIT_HR in the Kunos model, but I can confirm the chrome on the steering-wheel reflects kerbs and stuff. Must be something CSP related.

This worked on my pc:

[REFLECTIONS_FX]
INTERIOR_NODES = INT_GAUGES, STEER_HR, COCKPIT_HR

[MESH_ADJUSTMENT_...]
MESHES = LOD_A_EXT_DOOR_RIGHT_METAL, LOD_A_EXT_SEAL
MOVE_TO = COCKPIT_HR

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's already a [REFLECTIONS_FX] in the ext_config (almost at the top), replace that part. I only added : , STEER_HR, COCKPIT_HR.

I have no idea what that function does, but it seemed to interfere with the rest of the code. Also, it seemed to work wonders for removing the outside reflections of the steering wheel without breaking it. Maybe it's an even better solution-code..

Just for reference, this is where I found the code: https://github.com/ac-custom-shaders-patch/acc-extension-config/wiki/Mesh-adjustment

According to that page you can also move the entire STEER_HR node into the COCKPIT_HR node through [NODE_ADJUSTMENT_...]

The last improvement (as far as possible), adapting new parts from other cars.
Until someone came along to create a 3d model (definitive for 250TR61).
Added new windshields and modified the rear part.

Something is wrong today. I've driven about 10 or so different types of cars today, mods, Kunos cars, open wheel, GT3, older cars etc. And I can't get any heat in the tires in any of them. Various tracks, doesn't matter. If the tire does go to green in corner, once the car is going straight again it goes right back to solid dark blue. So I've spent all day and evening sliding around all over the place. The track temp is 29C. The last time I had this happen was back when I first started with AC on PC and the track temperature was too low. Once I raised it to 29 it fixed it. But this is the first time the cold tire issue has came up since then.

I believe he was referring to the Toyota GR Supra GT500, that link is not available on Mega but the Shanghai one was always working.

Also very nice work with the MP4-29 and Indianapolis 2007 tracks. Are you planning on doing any more F1 cars?
The Supra work has been quit because URD did a better one. No more plan about mod now.

hi ,

try:
PROP_... = fresnelC, 0.0
PROP_... = fresnelMaxLevel, 0.0
do you not see it stop reflecting stuff?
(in that case, I wouldn't know why this works for me but not for you... you are using CSP right?
maybe then try the [REFLECTIONS_FX] thing suggested by Tummie555 ... )

Personally I have a copy of the GT500 Supra since last year it also drives very well IMHO.

I do like all of your Mods and hopefully we get some more in the not too distant future!

Ok... as promised. The 1998 Championship.

Edit: Added car skins to the car package. They were available at Racing Department but that will save you from trouble.

Fully functional now, including the 1998 Buenos Aires (the correct 1998 skins are in the track package).

Screenshots.

Buenos Aires track. this has the 1998 skins included.

The 1998 was the first year Mika Hakkinen got a winning car. It started the best rivalry of this era. Hakkinen vs Schumacher. Both very talented drivers competing hard but fairly. It never got dirty as Senna's and Prost's rivalry 1988-1990.

I set the championship to Schumacher as the Ferrari is more challenging car to drive. Hakkinen is at ai level 100 and is tough to beat. Coulthard 96, Irvine 94. Should be good. Adjust to your liking. 20 cars on the grid (I find it the best amount). Put more and your qualifying becomes a mess (as the ai cars won't give space in their warmup lap).

10 laps in the championship. Again, adjust to your liking.

Amazing Cars by Virtua Simulazione. Thanks to the person who did them. I really like how the driver's head moves. Looks great.

You need the usual:

SOL
Custom Shaders Patch
1988 tracks
1992 ASR tracks

Albert Park Acu
Excellent track. Fairly fast AI. Looks good.

Interlagos 1992 ASR
There is a small difference between the 1992 and 1998 layouts. There is a chicane between points T14-T15 but I'm not sure if it was used in the F1 race. Other than that the track is a masterpiece and has excellent ai.

Buenos Aires
Track should be working now.

Imola 1988. Variante Bassa is a little bit different on 1998. But this Imola version is the best I've ever played. ASR 1992 track is not any more accurate and that AI is slow at Chicane Villeneuve.

Barcelona 1992 ASR
Again small difference as the Nissan curve has been straightened to 1998 but this is ultra fast ai track and has great races.

Monaco 1992 ASR
Pretty much the same as the 1988 version which is the best Monaco I've played. I also have the early 2000's version that might have more accurate ads and wider swimming pool curve but the cars don't drive as well and crash in the QF and ruin ai times. The 1992 version looks a bit more modern than 1988 and is very good.

Montreal 1992 ASR
No significant differences except for the Casino straight. Almost accurate track for 1998.

Magny Cours 1992 ASR
No differences. Identical layout as 1998. Accurate and very enjoyable track regarding AI.

Silverstone 1998 by Kniker97
Nice fast track. Accurate layout for 1998.

Red Bull Ring Kunos (you have this track if you own the game)
Correct time period skins in the video description.

Hockenheim 1992 ASR
There only a very minor change as Bremskurve 3 changed its name to Senna Kurve and the chicane is a little tiny bit different. Meaningless. 1992 ASR track is great.

Hungaroring 1992 ASR
Pretty much identical to 1998. Couldn't find any difference in the layout when I examined the track info. Only track that has a slow AI. I suggest you make it a rain GP if you own CSP rain. Even though the cars don't have wet tyres and proper rain physics but the spray makes it so much more challenging.

Spa 1988
I'm not 100% sure whether the bus stop was changed in the 1998 race or not. The Spa track info doesn't show any difference unless it was straightened. I know the pitlane was changed and I guess the cars exited after Eau Rouge. I have a 2003 track converted from GTR2 but it has a sluggish ai. Spa 1992 ASR also has about 4-5 seconds too slow ai. Way too easy to get a pole and win the race. The 1988 version is much faster but it could be even quicker and it's tested many times and you get great races. Maybe I've driven Spa so much that the pole comes quite easy with 1-2 sec. gap. Either way it's the best and fastest ai Spa I've tried.

Monza 1988
No significant changes. Best Monza version besides Kunos.

Nurburgring 2001
Excellent, competitive track conversion. I hate this circuit though (not the conversion but the circuit itself). I rarely finish the race here and always had a hard time go under 1:58 in ACC.

Suzuka ASR 1992
100% accurate. A masterpiece of a track. Always competitive.

Check the Monaco qualifying video. It's basically about Schumacher trying to beat Hakkinen's pole times and that's how it should be. Both always demolished their teammates Coulthard and Irvine for YEARS. With these cars you get a Monaco pole in ASR version with low 1:24 or high 1:23. I'm not the greatest sim racer and at least for me it's very challenging season Hakkinen ai at 100.

All links (including cars) in the video description. Enjoy!!!

Ok... as promised. The 1998 Championship.

Unfortunately no Buenos Aires though. There is a version with correct 1998 skins but the track is unusable. Cars won't leave the pits in qualifying and they drive like drunks. I'd rather leave a bad track completely out. That track looks great though so it's a shame it's broken. If someone has fixed it send it over and I'll add it.

Screenshots.

If some ai guru can fix it, we have a 100% full and functional season.

Is circuit number 6 the correct layout for F1? I don't seem to have the problem you described with the track I have installed. AI constantly lapping around 1:20~ and all cars leave the pits ok? Comparing files there does not seem to be many differences than in your upload, AI files are identical :confused: I can zip mine up for you if you want to test it?

Circuit no.6 is Montreal in the season (asr_owc_1992_round_07). Or do you mean the Buenos Aires track?

That was the third race of the real 1998 season. I left it out.

I didn't test it with these cars. I previously tested it with two different cars and in the season qualifying half of the cars didn't leave the pits in QF. And they drive like crazy. Completely out of the track, even in the first corner.

If that track is working for you with these cars I might give it another go.

Yeah sorry I meant Buenos Aires layout number 6, I was not sure if that is the correct F1 layout? But yes it is working for me fine, using CSP 0.2.2 and the cars you linked.

Weird. I will give it a go now and add it if it's working with these cars.

That track has many layouts. I don't remember which one is the correct F1 layout. Will be testing.

Edit: The correct layout for F1 is number 8 (alternative). That was not working. I will give it a go.

It says layout 6 at the top of the image you posted?

... try:
PROP_... = fresnelC, 0.0
PROP_... = fresnelMaxLevel, 0.0...
Doesn't work... 😟

... you are using CSP right?...
Yep, 0.1.79... 😐

... maybe then try the [REFLECTIONS_FX] thing suggested by Tummie555...
Works! 😊 Or almost... 😅

The strange reflections had disappeared from most of the surfaces on which they were seen, but they continued to appear in the aluminum frame of the left window, something that could easily be corrected by adding...

[REFLECTIONS_FX]
INTERIOR_NODES = INT_GAUGES, STEER_HR, COCKPIT_HR

[MESH_ADJUSTMENT_...]
MESHES = LOD_A_EXT_DOOR_RIGHT_METAL, LOD_A_EXT_DOOR_LEFT_METAL, LOD_A_EXT_SEAL
MOVE_TO = COCKPIT_HR

... to te code provided by @Tummie555.

Thanks to both of you for the help! (P.D. Can I brag about being a modder or not yet? 🤨)

Actually the track seems to be working with these cars. Amazing. I will add it to the calendar right now. :embarrassed: Wow.

Yes. That's the one.

Alternative 8 is almost the same. That is working. I will test number 6 now.

Edit. It's working. Wow. The problem was with the 1998 SimDream cars which I tested these with before.

Yeah 6 seems to match the official track map from 1998

Absolutely incredible. The champs file reuploaded with correct calendar now. It now automatically picks up the layout number 6. Thanks guys. Link updated.

I was stupid enough to only test this track with the SimDream 1998 cars before. It was the problem with the cars, not the track. The ai seems to be pretty fast too. Wow.

We have a fully functional 1998 season now. That Silverstone track is pretty fast too and the layout should match the 1998 season as well.

Remember to include the 1998 skins for Buenos Aires from CM (Content-Track->Buenos Aires). They're there. I guess the champs files will not detect them automatically. Also get the period correct skins for the Red Bull ring. Links in the video.

Does anyone know, if there are real Blancpain skins for the 2016-2019 seasons for the Bentley Continental GT3 ("GTP Modding and Thegost" version) ? I just cant find it.
