Ok... as promised. The 1998 Championship.
Edit: Added car skins to the car package. They were available at Racing Department but that will save you from trouble.
Fully functional now, including the 1998 Buenos Aires (the correct 1998 skins are in the track package).
Screenshots.
The last Argentinian Grand prix to date, was held in 1998 at the "Autodromo Juan y Oscar Galvez de Buenos Aires". I wanted to recreate as much as possible the advertisements and the billboards that were at the circuit that same weekend with...

The 1998 was the first year Mika Hakkinen got a winning car. It started the best rivalry of this era. Hakkinen vs Schumacher. Both very talented drivers competing hard but fairly. It never got dirty as Senna's and Prost's rivalry 1988-1990.
I set the championship to Schumacher as the Ferrari is more challenging car to drive. Hakkinen is at ai level 100 and is tough to beat. Coulthard 96, Irvine 94. Should be good. Adjust to your liking. 20 cars on the grid (I find it the best amount). Put more and your qualifying becomes a mess (as the ai cars won't give space in their warmup lap).
10 laps in the championship. Again, adjust to your liking.
Amazing Cars by Virtua Simulazione. Thanks to the person who did them. I really like how the driver's head moves. Looks great.
You need the usual:
SOL
Custom Shaders Patch
1988 tracks
1992 ASR tracks
Albert Park Acu
Excellent track. Fairly fast AI. Looks good.
Interlagos 1992 ASR
There is a small difference between the 1992 and 1998 layouts. There is a chicane between points T14-T15 but I'm not sure if it was used in the F1 race. Other than that the track is a masterpiece and has excellent ai.
Buenos Aires
Track should be working now.
Imola 1988. Variante Bassa is a little bit different on 1998. But this Imola version is the best I've ever played. ASR 1992 track is not any more accurate and that AI is slow at Chicane Villeneuve.
Barcelona 1992 ASR
Again small difference as the Nissan curve has been straightened to 1998 but this is ultra fast ai track and has great races.
Monaco 1992 ASR
Pretty much the same as the 1988 version which is the best Monaco I've played. I also have the early 2000's version that might have more accurate ads and wider swimming pool curve but the cars don't drive as well and crash in the QF and ruin ai times. The 1992 version looks a bit more modern than 1988 and is very good.
Montreal 1992 ASR
No significant differences except for the Casino straight. Almost accurate track for 1998.
Magny Cours 1992 ASR
No differences. Identical layout as 1998. Accurate and very enjoyable track regarding AI.
Silverstone 1998 by Kniker97
Nice fast track. Accurate layout for 1998.
Red Bull Ring Kunos (you have this track if you own the game)
Correct time period skins in the video description.
Hockenheim 1992 ASR
There only a very minor change as Bremskurve 3 changed its name to Senna Kurve and the chicane is a little tiny bit different. Meaningless. 1992 ASR track is great.
Hungaroring 1992 ASR
Pretty much identical to 1998. Couldn't find any difference in the layout when I examined the track info. Only track that has a slow AI. I suggest you make it a rain GP if you own CSP rain. Even though the cars don't have wet tyres and proper rain physics but the spray makes it so much more challenging.
Spa 1988
I'm not 100% sure whether the bus stop was changed in the 1998 race or not. The Spa track info doesn't show any difference unless it was straightened. I know the pitlane was changed and I guess the cars exited after Eau Rouge. I have a 2003 track converted from GTR2 but it has a sluggish ai. Spa 1992 ASR also has about 4-5 seconds too slow ai. Way too easy to get a pole and win the race. The 1988 version is much faster but it could be even quicker and it's tested many times and you get great races. Maybe I've driven Spa so much that the pole comes quite easy with 1-2 sec. gap. Either way it's the best and fastest ai Spa I've tried.
Monza 1988
No significant changes. Best Monza version besides Kunos.
Nurburgring 2001
Excellent, competitive track conversion. I hate this circuit though (not the conversion but the circuit itself). I rarely finish the race here and always had a hard time go under 1:58 in ACC.
Suzuka ASR 1992
100% accurate. A masterpiece of a track. Always competitive.
Check the Monaco qualifying video. It's basically about Schumacher trying to beat Hakkinen's pole times and that's how it should be. Both always demolished their teammates Coulthard and Irvine for YEARS. With these cars you get a Monaco pole in ASR version with low 1:24 or high 1:23. I'm not the greatest sim racer and at least for me it's very challenging season Hakkinen ai at 100.
