EDIT : on picture you can really see how stupid the windscreen is on that car. the wiper cannot do anything in the view. And I even pulled it up, normally it is even lower/less useful...
Because car had to have wiper back then, a passenger seat, trunk and full size spare tire :scared:

As far as I can tell the only somewhat racing version of that car is based on the pre production renders and is by RTM so it’s a pretty terrible representation all around.

The only game that has modelled the real racing version that runs at the N24 seems to be Asphalt 9.

View attachment 1326536

Not sure if anyone even thinks it’s worth converting that model but it’s out there. And I guess that actually means I need to correct my stance lol. Besides the 458 GT3 this is another modern GT3 car we’re currently missing in the game, although it’s not homologated.
let's hope that instead of making the same car over and over (coff coff, Rekus Lux, coff coff) some studios would consider to give us a verison of this unicorn racecar...

I've tested the "data_override" option with the URD Darche Cup 2021 to change the ingame name in car.ini from "Darche" to "Porsche" and to increase the brightness of the brakes in lights.ini. The ingame name doesn't change, but the brakes are really brighter. So I guess, that "data_override" does only work for ini-files, that do not effect the performance of the car like lights.ini or driver3d.ini. Otherwise you could use it for cheating in online races, e.g. by reducing the weight of the car in car.ini. The result is, that there is no way to deactivate the extended physics in cars with modder encrypted data.acd file, even if you can read the ini-files.
Forgive me my stupidness but you easily can change the ingame name with CM?!

Look at it and tell me how the windshield is supposed to be useful, uh ?
Safety ? A 30km/h crash and it does a better job as a guillotine than a wind stopper.

I honestly hesitated to do it that way, still. For accuracy. But as historical pictures show it, they had trouble deciding which windshield type use in racing format.

The-P70-had-a-spoiler-that-would-flip-up-at-the-driver.jpg

So I went for a compromise of the 2. A proper windshield, but curved and bolted like the actual one. I think it did it justice anyway, just don't race in the rain with that thing haha

Hello,
Pease, can anyone let me know, how to get around this problem?
Car: Creative101 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 2004
Problem: Windshield and windows are very opaque in-game, but ok in cm showroom.

Ok, so I finally bit the forbidden apple and bought myself a reasonably priced second hand VR headset...

1: Anyone want to buy a fancy 32" G-Sync triple screen setup? I'm probably never going to use it again. Like, ever.

2: My favourite car, the PM3DM Volvo S40 touring car has a glitch in the windscreen, which is kind of annoying. It's only there in VR, and I haven't seen this kind of flaw on any other cars, so I reckon it's the car that needs to be fixed, and not my setup.

The inside part of the windscreen, the tinted part between the banner and the transparent part, reflects some seemingly random stuff, which is probably not correct. To add to it, the left and right eye reflects different random stuff, that doesn't align right, making it even more distracting. Not too easy to screenshot, but here it is.

It appears in all the skins, even those that don't skin the windscreen, so it's probably an issue in the model itself.

If I know you guys right, this is probably fixable? :)

I also really like this car, I've modified it for personal use as the reflecting interior was far too distracting, but I think this should sort it out for you. Add these lines to the end of ext_config.ini

[MESH_ADJUSTMENT_...]
MESHES = rollcage, S40_CKPT_WIND_SUB0
MOVE_TO = COCKPIT_HR
IS_ACTIVE = 1

I was checking SRG this morning, looking for a particular product teardown, when I realised he hadn't posted any new videos for about a year.
Seems he's lost interest in reviewing products, and in sim racing in general. Even sold all of his sim gear.
That's a huge loss to our hobby.

RELEASE :

Here we are, my first ever car on AC :

The De Tomaso P70

View attachment 1326503
Features :

- Scratch-made 3D model, with around 10% of parts adapted and modified from Kunos's original Ford GT40 and Shelby Cobra, for accurate referencing, essentially. The rest is mostly pictures based, so inaccuracies may be expected.

- Full homemade LODs, not the simplygon ones, for a more balanced visual/performance result

- Textures by Kunos, Lorelord and myself

- Customized physics, based from the closest original Kunos's car : Ford GT40. Apologize for any physic-core specialist, I'm not myself.

- Custom Ext_config, car should run fine without CSP but is recommended. Tested on CSP 0.1.79, should work as intended with any above version

- Paintshop compatibility for car paint, leather seat and rear plate

- Animations from Kunos for Driver pos, shift and steer, custom made by myself for wipers (thanks Norms for the helping hand).

- Sound by FFF789, you can find it here: Click me!!
(slightly tweaked with Ext_config to adapt to the P70, but all thanks go to him)

Test, advices and feedback by @norms and @jac0 from GTPlanet forum, thanks a lot for your help!
Original idea and production by @lorelord
And thanks to y'all for the encouragement on making my first car mod for AC. :gtpflag:

OPTIONAL SKINPACK by Jac0, with chameleon and shiny chrome!

Reminder for those who scroll too fast :

DOWNLOAD ME

And I hope you enjoy it.
Okay so, a bit of an update.

My post on RaceDepartment has been deleted, the car can't be download at the moment. The only message I received is this :

"Your resource De Tomaso P70 was deleted.Reason: Reusing Kunos' assets is not allowed as per our TOS and Kunos himself."

So, 2 things come to my mind.
The first one being : how a mod is suppose to work if it cannot re-use the base content at all ? Modifying the base content is the WHOLE POINT of modding, in case you missed it. When you make dummies referencing as wheels, you're re-using the engine language to communicate between the game and the user that this is the wheel. You always have to re-use base content to mod.

Second thing : I have been pretty clear in my post, that I used parts from the Cobra and the GT40 as REFERENCE, for ACCURACY. It's not like I reverse-engineer'd something to sell it elsewhere, I just took advantage of the already available content to help me make a better one than if I did without. Also... If I didn't said anything, nobody would have bat an eye and the post wouldn't had any trouble, right ?

This website has become an absolute joke.

I'll update the original post with a new link as soon as I have it, my own personal link, and I'll probably never post anything on RD anymore.

Here is it :
Like RaceDepartement, but with hookers and cocaïne

No idea why (I even redownloaded the car to make sure - maybe a VR thing?) but I had to add this as well, otherwise the sunstrip was still holographic with weird reflections.

Code:
;fix borked or holographic internal glass
[SHADER_REPLACEMENT_...]
ACTIVE = 1
MESHES = S40_CKPT_WIND_SUB0
IS_TRANSPARENT = 1

@El Locho also did a wiper config for it, in case anyone missed it:
(it's a little borked, the wiper arm detaches from the blade towards the end of the stroke)

Still struggling to find a decent sequential shifting animation for it though.

Definitely doesn't do that on mine but I'm not sure what I changed it was that long ago, seems all sorted now though? 👍

Yep, that did the trick. Thank you very much, sir.

For me it is/was a VR-only-issue. Now, it's not an issue at all. ;)

Ah, yes. forgot about it, sorry.

I'm a bit disgusted by the situation right now.
I updated my original posts (again).

Yep, thanks - although rain drops don't appear through the translucent part of the sun strip. Any ideas there?

Better?
(@MasterFocus too)

Remove the .txt extension and either drop the DDS in every skin folder or (much better idea) save it on your desktop and do a global texture replacement in CM Showroom.

Thank you for the code on the banner and the link to the wiper, works great and improve the immersion, yes, the shifting animation is really off, :lol:, not even sure if we not better without it altogether at this point, that is, until you maybe apply some Masscot magic to it. :bowdown:
