I am looking for the NSX mod, the one on race department as been abandoned and does not even load into the game, anyone with a link to an updated version?
Ok...I was experiencing the crashing too. How odd. I assumed the sounds would work in the cockpit, like most mod cars that haven't been updated to the new FMOD, but the external sounds - like when you watch a replay - would all be broken and you wouldn't hear a peep. But crashing? WTF?!
Luckily, I fixed it. I found a solution...
the solution? You're going to laugh. I'm sure you checked the log.txt file and scratched your head as I did. But, I noticed something was amiss so I took a shot in the dark and now the car doesn't crash. It loads to the track just fine.
Go into just about any mod car's folder. I used the nice Honda s800 because it's folder name is at the top of my cars directory - a3dr_honda_s800
You should see a folder called "texture". Inside that folder is another folder called "flames" but no files. In the folder called flames you should see two files 7.png and 8.png (if they don't have 7 & 8 look for another mod car, most do).
Go back into the main directory for that mod car - a3dr_honda_s800 and highlight the folder called "texture". Right-Click > Copy.
Go into the main directory of the broken NSX which should be called, "honda_nsx". Right-Click > Paste - the folder called "texture" should now be in the root folder of the NSX mod car.
That's it.
Are you freakin' kidding me? THAT crashes the entire car?! Apparently so. You can't copy the folder "texture" from a Kunos car because theirs have empty "flames" folders inside. It's gotta be a mod car and it needs both 7.png & 8.png...
You will now be faced with the broken audio problem. You can drive around in cockpit view and listen to the engine rev and the other noises that are internal to the nsx audio experience. However, something is wrong with even the engine sound. It sounds crappy. You will get no sound on watching Replays unless you only watch them in cockpit view - you can't use the track cameras and such.
So, the solution is Content Manager. You have to copy the existing sounds from one car onto the 4 Honda NSX's (if you want all 4 to have sound, that is)...I can't think of a car off the top of my head that has a similar sound to the Honda NSX or the Honda NSX-R. I'm sure we've gotta have one. Another Japanese car will probably be closest. I don't know if the Nissan R34 Skyline has a similar sound...I've only driven it a couple of times, months ago. It probably doesn't sound similar.
If anyone can think of a car that sounds similar to the Honda/Acura NSX's (1st Generation), please let me know in this thread. I hope everyone can understand my solution to the broken NSX. And hopefully the author(s) will fix the sound files soon.
