I should have got that much sooner, I've sort of been there. If it's where I think it is it's right next to a school.

Abergavenny Thursdays !?

+1

Abergavenny Thursdays, so named because Thursday was a half-day in the town so that's when the players were available for matches, have been around since 1927 and were founding members of the glorified pub football known as the League of Wales but now ply their trade much further down the pyramid in the Gwent County League, Division Three.

On it goes to TyrrellRacing.

I have, on the basis that they are the only other club in the world (that is part of a league structure) named after a day of the week. Same reasons too, if I recall - Wednesday because of half day Wednesdays allowing the workers to play cricket, Thursday because of (something that happens in Abergavenny on Thursdays) allowing workers to play football.

Edit: Yes. That.

What trophy have Colchester United, Derby County, Bristol Rovers and Stoke City won, but nobody else ?

The Watney Cup? I remember hearing of it before and it only lasting 4 seasons?

Who was the Manchester City goalkeeper who broke his neck in the 1956 FA Cup final and continued on through the pain?

Famine
Bert Trautmann.

Correct, even though I had the year wrong at first

I remember him getting a plaque in the Etihad last year in remembrance of his feat of bravery, and to be honest stupidity.

(something that happens in Abergavenny on Thursdays)

Involving wool, a copy of Beastiality Today and one triple thick condom?

I was going to have a random guess at Newi Cefn Druids, perhaps thinking that Cefn was a day of the week. Alas, I was wrong, but seeing as Welsh is a made up language anyway, I'll create an 8th day for it. We shall call it Moonday.

Also, Bert Trautmann is way too easy.

Because I don't think there's a place by the actual name of Notts.

School going well this year, huh?

I thought it would be more obscure then it was, since I'm a goalie I'm quiet polished on goalkeeping trivia and thought it wasn't as well known as I thought.

In the whole of the UK there's three League clubs that contain all five vowels (AEIOU) in their given name (minus "Football Club") - including one that contains "all six" (AEIOU and Y). Two examples from the ineligible League of Ireland are Drogheda United and Monaghan United.

Name them :D

Another interesting fact is that their all United's, but then again theres 3 vowels in United.

Anyway;
Hartlepool United (A, E, I, O and U)
Rotherham United (A, E, I, O and U)
Torquay United (A, E, I, O, U and Y)

:D

I have a question,....How many English League teams have non-geographical names and, what are they?
There's a whole load more Scottish teams that fit that bill, but that's possibly for another question...

And lets not even go to Wales...

Someone else can take my turn 👍
OK, then...

Lets go there and do that. Scottish league teams that don't have a geographical location in their name. Go.

EDIT: I have a list of 10

10? :scared:

Off the top of my head I can think of three;..

Rangers (assuming they don't rename via admin.!)
Celtic
St. Johnstone

Officially, Glasgow doesn't appear in the top two clubs. :sly:

lol, I was about to go there.

On the basis that St. Johnstone is one, would St. Mirren be another?

Queen's Park, Queen of the South, Hibernian (sorta).
I'm not accepting Queen's Park as there is a place in Glasgow called Queens Park. Basically what I'm looking for (if there wasn't a football club of that name) and someone said, "lets go to Queens Park" you'd know where to go. If someone said, "lets go to Queen of the South" or "lets go to Hibs", you'd have no idea where to go.

The other 2 are correct though.

So that's us got

Rangers
Celtic
St Johnstone
Queen of the South
Hibernian
St Mirren

6 down, 4 to go

Clyde?
Airdrie United?
Hearts?
No for Airdrie. There is unfortunately a place called Airdrie, commonly known as Airdire, at least to me...

Yes, for the other 2
Albion Rovers has to be another and what about Raith Rovers?
And yes to Albion & Raith Rovers.

They'll be dancing in the streets of Raith/Total Network Solutions tonight.

Rangers
Celtic
Hearts
Hibs
St Mirren
St Johnstone
QOS
Raith Rovers
Albion Rovers
Clyde.

And that concludes the question, and I've no idea whose go it is now.
