I'll bring it back then.

Teams from Oceania have only been to four World Cup Finals tournaments - Australia twice (as an AFC qualifier in 2006, rather than OFC) and New Zealand twice. Yet one man from Oceania has won a World Cup winner's medal...

Who is he?

Good to see this thread revived..

..but i think ill sit this one out as i havnt got a clue!!

Vincenzo grella?

Only two Italian Australian players i know are him and vieri, but i guess Grella.

No to all. Vieri was born in Bologna and Grella (and Cahill) plays for Australia who've never won a World Cup...

I believe this guy is the only man from Oceania to even play a World Cup final...

Quite a lot of the French team weren't born in France, like Desailly, Thuram and Viera, but I don't think it's any of them as I think they're all African, so I'll guess at Christian Karambeu (spelling?) as I don't know where he was born.

Is he a recent winner (last twenty years?) or from an earlier period?

Yep. Last 20 years. In fact...

... daan has it. Christian Karembeu, two time Oceania player of the year and winner of the 1998 World Cup with France, was born in New Caledonia - a nation we may yet see in the 2014 World Cup as they are through to the last 4 Group Phase for OFC.

There's one for you :D

Completely forgot about this. If anyone else has a question before I can think of one, feel free to take my go. 👍

This shouldn't be too hard but it'l get the thread moving again, hopefully.

Who is this and what is his claim to fame ?

Marc Bosman, went to court to be released from his contract, and this started the 'Bosman Rule' enabling players to move for free at the end of their contracts.

Would be very surprised if it's Cole, he hardly ever scores. Will guess Sol Campbell based solely on the fact he's been around for ages.
