I've got Dean Windass stuck in my head (Bradford, Hull, the Pigs, Aberdeen*), but I don't recall him being conference or Champions League.

*Oddly, when I played SWOS daily, Windass was my key player in many teams, starting with Aberdeen. I took him to any club I went to and built him up to a world record transfer fee player...

I can give you one clue, he is a current player playing in the Premier League...

I'm sure he helped with the catering income though.

As for the clue, that was my guess out the window, the team I am thinking of have just been relegated. I still can't remember his name and I don't want to Google it!

Wasn't sure that the player in question achieved said achievement so I just checked his Wiki and I know its easily editable but it does confirm that he did it....and it has given me a few more clues that I can give but I don't want to because I don't want to give it away...

I can give more clues if you guys are still stuck, been a few weeks since anyone has posted here...

..it's not...it isn't Gary Hooper is it? Has he been around that much?
Plays for a club that was relegated: Check
Played in Scotland: Check
Played in the Premier League: Check......

Is it?

The answer is indeed Gary Hooper!

Scored in the lower leagues for Grays Athletic, Southend, Leyton Orient, Hereford and Scunthorpe, he also scored in the Football Trophy and the FA Trophy for those clubs too, moved to Celtic in July 2010 for £2.4 mill where he obviously scored In the SPL and the Scottish Cup, Scottish League Cup, Champions League and Europa League, finally he moved to Norwich in July 2013 for around £5 mill where he scored in the Premier League, the FA cup and The League Cup...

HighSeaHoMastr gets the point and next question 👍

Huh. Gary Hooper, journeyman striker. Lucky guess on my part.

For my question, I'll take it across the pond for a change: who was the first player signed under the MLS 'homegrown' rule to appear in a World Cup?

Should be a fairly easy one.

Could you explain to us who aren't familiar with MLS rules what the homegrown rule is?

Here's the Wikipedia page for it.
From that page:
The Homegrown Player Rule is a program that allows MLS teams to sign local players from their own development academies directly to MLS first team rosters.

Basically its the equivalent of signing for the club you played for as a youth in England/Europe. Think Ryan Giggs, etc. They just have to have special rules and such for in because 'Murica.

There were a few USA Players in that squad that play in the MLS, in fact I think the majority of them were...

Well, since one question from a non-European league seems to have killed this thread, I guess I'll just post the answer.
DeAndre Yedlin, of the Seattle Sounders, made his debut against Portugal at the age of 20 in the 2014 World Cup and became the first player signed under the MLS Homegrown Player rule to appear in the World Cup.

Someone else can have a go.

I have a question but I asked before you did so I'm going to wait and see if anyone wants to go before me...

Springfield Park - Wigan
Burnden Park - Bolton
Layer Road - Colchester
Roker Park - Sunderland
Bank Street -?
Highfield Road - Coventry
The Old Showground - ?
Plough Lane - Wimbledon
Christie Park - ?
Sealand Road - Chester (Random fact - it was positioned right on the border between Wales and England, and the Main stand was sited in on English soil so it could be classed as an English club, the pitch however was in Wales. (I know that as I have a Football Grounds of England, Wales and Scotland book and that fact is lodged in my head!)

@dhandeh gets the points for Wimbledon and Chester. But as someone from the area I can tell you that while that fact is true, it refers to their new stadium, the Deva Stadium. The old stadium was about a mile further inland and well inside England. The new Deva stadium was also the first 'modern' stadium in that it was the first football stadium built conforming to, and after the publication of, the Taylor report.

Springfield Park - Wigan Athletic 1896-1998, now playing at the DW Stadium SuperDiscoDaz
Burnden Park - Bolton Wanderers 1895-1997, now playing at the Macron Stadium SuperDiscoDaz
Layer Road - Colchester United 1910-2012, now playing at Colchester Community Stadium SuperDiscoDaz
Roker Park - Sunderland 1897-1997, now playing at the Stadium Of Light SuperDiscoDaz
Bank Street - ???
Highfield Road - Coventry City 1899-2005, now playing at the Ricoh Arena SuperDiscoDaz
The Old Showground - Scunthorpe United 1899-1988, now playing at Glanford Park SuperDiscoDaz
Plough Lane - Wimbledon 1912-1991, now playing at Denbigh Stadium, Milton Keynes dhandeh
Christie Park - ???
Sealand Road - Chester City 1906-1990, club now defunct; phoenix club now playing at Deva Stadium dhandeh

So we're still looking for Bank Street and Christie Park. I'll make it easy, because I want this to keep going. Bank Street was replaced by a very famous stadium, Christie Park was the home to one of League Two's current early pacesetters.

Close enough!

Early pacesetters, it isn't Portsmouth, so I will guess at Morecambe for Christie Park, haven't ever heard of it though! I know Everton started at Anfield then moved to Goodison, so I am not sure whether Goodison was once Bank Street. Man City were at Maine Rd, not sure if Man U started at Old Trafford, Highbury is Highbury. Villa have always played at Villa Park I think, erm, out of ideas.

You're correct with Morcambe and Christie Park, but I'll need a proper answer for Bank Street. You have mentioned the correct answer though.
