way to take it too far.

Some people just want to play as realistically as possible, something challenging can be fun, in fact the most challenging things are usually the most rewarding, if you want it easy go buy a codebreaker and give yourself all gold medals save you the bother of actually racing

PLease stop comparing GT to real life. There is NO comparison. No matter how perfect GT is, it'll never be real life. If you want to experience real life, go drive for 24 hours straight in real life and experience the whole sensation of it in full 100% realism. GT is a game first, and a game should be fun. If that means that it's lenient enough after you've spent 23 hours on a single race for whatever reason (I would never do an endurance race, NEVER) it'll let you win, then I could go for that.

To me, it's simply incomprehensible that people who aren't paid an incredible sum of money to drive for even 8 hours in pure exhaustion would do so voluntarily for 24 hours and DEMAND that they be punished for it as if they were being paid millions of dollars. It's like "Hey mom! Look! I'm a weal wacecar driva now!" "No hon, you're not, put the controller down and go spend some time with your friends." Next thing you know, certain people who demand "random mechanical failures" will demand that a 24 hour race be unpausable just like real life with realistic peeing and taking a crap while driving. *sigh

We must play GT for different reasons, I just want to drive all kinds of cars on all kinds of tracks with awesome physics and graphics. I play GT to learn to become a better everyday driver; I have no illusions that if I am punished in the game enough, that I'll be hired by ferrari to drive for their next F1 season.

endurance race shouldn't be more then 1h and 30 min. But with changing weather and day/night cycle in 2h you can go 24h endurance, and experience 24h race in 2 hours. this is more then enough for endurance race. I personally don't like to use b-spec mode and sit and wait 24 hours for race to finish.

Challenge is always good to have, and yes, it's more rewarding.

MGR, could you do same kind of clips from these points of the vid too? Just to get a better look of them :)

Sure. :)

Look how long the car's shadow is, definitely evening.

Good eye Peterram430.

I tried to find some 'evening' photos around the Nürburgring. This ones close:

I think the lighting still definitely needs some work in GT5P. It'll be really interesting to see how well the the transition between daylight and darkness works - assuming that feature makes it into GT5.

Disagree with this - I would've liked to play the 24 hour endurance races in GT4 - but due to lack of mid race saves I couldn't...

As long as that is in - then 24 hour races will be perfect.

well what is the point in mid save, either you can handle it or not, take it like a men :-). because then there is no big difference between 2h endurance or 24h endurance, if you can save your driving. there should never be save option in racing, this is not some FPS or RPG game, it's racing, so no save. maybe if i was any younger, without job, and other things i could play for 24h, but reality is different, as it is for most players.

Yeti nothing personal m8

Has to be save - because I cannot spend 24 hours in front of a PS3 - I have a job to goto...

There is a difference - you still have to do 24 hours of driving - and keeping your car on the island for 24 hours, especially with damage, is a challenge...

In GT4 - I had to resort to Bob doing them - with a few laps here and there from myself!!

but there should also be ability to start other race, and then go back to 24h race or time acceleration. This 24h endurance will take me more then one month to finish, and that is not driving, it's pain in the a**. Spare time, just for driving is a rare commodity nowadays, at least for me :-(

I have nothing against 24HR races as long as they can be played as Team (with the friends on my Friends List switching places) and as long as the final result (winning for instance :)) is counted towards game completition for all of us :D

However, save would be nice in offline-game though I know many people that just run both Nurb and LeMans through pausing few days without turning thier PS2 off.

Your subjective problem of not having enough spare time to drive implies that you should leave your girlfriend and finally realize about what are the real priorities in life.

Quote of the month. amar212, you made my day.

You must not wait 24h. In GT4 you can in the b spec set the time faster and then you just wait 8h ;)

i hope ist included in GT5 because i dont drive 24h.

The fictional Tracks on the night modus must be great. Like trial Mountain, high speed ring, Grand Valley or clubman stage by day. i´m curios

Thanks. 👍

Now, what the heck is that? The track looks real, but the lightning for the track doesn't. The car interior looks real, but the lightning for it doesn't. Adding to this there is a conflict between the two different lightning environments. I just don't understand where is this taken from and what it has to do with the R8 & the nurb vid. It clearly is not the same as the other parts of the video.

I can't figure out one good reason for doing a such 'fake' clip. Someone explain me, thanks :)

I set it to 3x speed, go to sleep and then pit stops **** me up.

Maybe we're giving too much attention for part of clip that last less than 2 seconds in total and was made in order to present something completely different than we imply :)

That really the part I was wondering. Care to tell? (j/k)
ok, I'll drop it now. To me it just is very interesting... as I said. There should be not any reason for that kind of material to be presented in this context. btw, I'm not implying what you might be implying me to be implying.

:dopey:

*needs coffee*

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything and I really do not know who or why did that in that video :)

I just say it was made more than 6 months ago for some obvious Audi in-house PR puropse that nobody from "mainstream" didn't even caught before few days ago, so trying to find any meaning or anwers in it would probabaly result only with more speculation and missleading.

Well whats really weird is the fact that the tach is not moving. To me it looks like a R8 cockpit with a TV screen that is shaped like a windshield. I also think the 'video' in the video is actual video not GT5. It just does not look like a game. I agree with amar I do not think this is some super secret clue. Also on the shadows being longer because of day/night cycles, I played GT4 and the ring has almost the same shadows on the cars and the trees as this video so I do not think that feature is present here. E3 hurry the hell up!

I think you're all reading too much into those supposedly off looking clips.

Even though it's in German, you can hear the narrator say "photo realism".

Those clips are intentional I believe; I think they're trying to illustrate the difference (or closeness) between photo realism from the cockpit and the real track itself as viewed from the cockpit.

I don't think an editor would miss something like that.

I think the point they're trying to prove is that there is still some discrepancy between photo realism and the real thing, but that it is not too far away from becoming extremely realistic..
