Kazunori Yamauchi: We are working on it, including weather changes, a race which may affect index. And damage to racing cars we will soon be able to simulate.

As long the 24 hour cycles are TRUE and weather.. I am happy that at least race cars will have damage.


And I still can't belive that weather and day night clycles will be in GT5!!! It's really more exciting about damage! I feel like this gorilla!

The German translation that got translated to English here could be wrong.
Germans often call cars that are racing "racecars", which COULD also incllude street legal cars racing...

OH yes true as well. But we all remeber KAZ menion about possibility to only have damage for RACE cars because many street car companies wont allow.


Lets say Damage comes to GT5, will cars flip?

So guys he says you will be able to drive at night.. But did I miss something? Is he talking about in game changes like in real life? Or you have to quit race.. and set the time to see the change?
I am worried about this. GT4 had both day and night.. but for certain tracks, I do not want to see that all over again, I wanna see the SUN go up and down, as well the Moon while racing!!

I just want to see someone spending 1 million credits on a large, powerful supercar, take it out onto a wet track, and wreck it on the first corner, then have to spend another hour or two acquiring enough credits to have their car repaired.

It would change the whole dynamic of the game.

Too right it would change the dynamic of the game. I would never forgive the AI if it collected my multi-millions credit LMP car though.

Nothing here is confirmed, but it gives us a better insight into exactly Kaz is prioritizing these things. It's good to see that day/night and weather is something they are 'working hard' on.

I was talking about weather cycles really. The reason for which the second line of my post is important. Its't not the first time we have heard about weather sure. The fact that we have heard more about it though is promising, its great to see a reccuring theme in the interviews.

Yep for street cars which really does beg the question;

Why do car manufacturers not allow damage in a game like GT5 but its fine for Forza 3? I assume it has to do with implementation; Yamauchi wants the car to be a wreck when it crashes at 200mph but car manufacturers are saying no. It's that or (please do correct me if I am wrong) PD do not actually pay for car licenses unlike other games so due to that certain restrictions are made.

Edit - Are weather cycles pretty much confirmed? My mind has not changed in that I could not care less about damage but weather cycles would be meaty.

Maybe they have the backbone strong now, and they are working on weather and damage for racecars

Would be nice to see if we can race at the nordschleife online,maybe 20 laps with pit stop strategys... and then after 5 laps it starts to rain and everybody wants to get into the pits and you got to change all your strategies...

It also would be awesome if you got to pay for it to repair your damaged car... (wich you can turn on or of... if you race online and there are crashkidies... but with friends it would be awesome) that is my most favourite thing,allmost in the career mode where you got to drive very carefully with your 2.000.000 Cr. Enzo... Blow your engine and need a new one for 400.000 Cr. or if you shift to often incorrect that it will kill your gears...

You can't imagine how much I laughed when I saw this video Nox. I started to imagine some of you which who I've raced with, and me, on the road with other people online that we don't know, and everybody laughing through the mic because of a situation like this.

If all of us were screaming since 1st day of punters to the kitty litter... imagine how it may be with something like this

In the interviéw definitly stands "Rennautos" = Racecars. Standard non racing cars we just call "Autos" "Wagen" "Fahrzeuge" - cars

Means for me it sounds like damage will only be for racecars (what would satisfy me, better any damage than generally no damage)

Picture this...

Polyphony logo shows up, followed by a SuperGT GT-R revving its engine in the middle of a night city scene(tokyo?)... cut to said car racing through the streets shown from cockpit view, while many more racecars pass it at high speed...

fade into the same cars racing through nurburgring, suddenly the sky turns dark and rain starts falling!! The cars pit, and crewmembers change tires! GT5 logo shows up, cue rock music, while showing a montage of cars racing through many circuits.. Grand Speed Valley, Spa, China, Tokyo, Laguna Seca are shown in incredible detail!! Menu screens for online races show up with many options to choose how to race. Customization, liveries, the works!

The screen goes black, only a race car engine is heard while it passes through the gears, suddenly the car is heard skidding! CRASH!

The screen fades in to picture a totalled CR6!! Fade out to the words:
GT5 worldwide release winter 09!!!!!!


The crowd goes wild!!!

Right when I was starting to lower my hopes for day/night and weather so I don't get disappointed when GT5 is released.... BAM this shows up! Hopefully now E3 can confirm this so I don't have to go though the process of lowering my hopes again.

PD could have just handed me 300 cars, 50 tracks and solid online options for GT5 and I would have been happy.

So anything extra is just the icing on an already delicious cake!
