if they only add it to racecars it will be beacuse the manufacturers wouldn't allow PD enough on road cars to make it a worthwhile addition

Does every thread have to descend into damage? :indiff:

I thought we just got the best news on GT5 so far, I know everyone has different interests here, but damage on race cars is good since it allows greater freedom over damage.

:crazy:man oh man I can't wait for the nurburgring with 15 other racers
I want nurburgring w/ 99 other racers :P some series have over 100 cars ontrack at the same time. its great fun. At least 36 or so cars would be nice.

There will be ca. 190 cars at this years ADAC 24h race on the Nürburgring iirc.
But i doubt the PS3 is able to produce over 20 cars on track with Prologues graphics.

Well they could update the tracks (or at least the tracks that have changed). Would be cool if you could see the building cranes at the GP circuit when your racing the Nurburgring :) And yeah the tree's could use a update aswell.
that's really not a revamp. If they add those last few details, then good for them, but if they don't, it's not like the track suddenly turns from gold to manure.

They apparently did a great job with the lightings they've got from the Manufactor :

Not at all. I don't care about it either.

By the way, excellent news, guys! Thanks to anyone who took the time to translate pieces of information to us! 👍

Hey guys!
-When a driver in front of you takes off the track sand is flying against the windscreen

That and rain should equal working wipers. Accumulating dirt would be good on the longer races and can you imagine having to use a tear-off in the F1 at some point? :scared:

did that racing driver comment how R8 handles in game? I think it is really hard to drift R8 in game, but people who tested real car say it is easy because so little of the power goes to front wheels.

My worry is whether or not these rain and day night changes will reduce the number of cars on track from 16 to 10 or something. I hope not

Interesting...

It'll be great if GT5 has different weather conditions and the ability to race during night on all tracks. 👍 For me, that's almost as good as getting damage!

Can't wait for E3...:D

With S1 tires I find the R8 pretty easy to drift. Sure its takes a lot of input and maybe some ebrake but overall I find when I drive the car in the game and then watch the replay its pretty close to real life videos.

^Agreed

Weather effects will add so much to the game. Damage can only add so much.

Picture it; there's two laps left, your in the lead, but 2nd place is only 15 seconds down the road, its starting to rain and you on the wrong tyres, what do you do?

Do you stay out on track on the wrong tyres and try and nurse it home? do you pit in for some intermediates? if you pit in and your opponent stays out they could beat you? likewise if you stay out and loose too much grip your opponent could overtake if he pits.

It scenarios like this which make changable weather so appealing. It would add a whole new dimension to endurance races.

{edit} Codename, earth was basically saying that night and weather is much better than damage.

You know what I don't understand?
German.

It's great that some of the good members of :gtplanet: can translate it for you then isn't it. :)

I know that people are desperate for some GT5 news (me too), but this one is 7 months old (November 2008)

7 months ago news about damage and changable weather was really news, now it is just not :grumpy:

Based on presumption that you actually want to say that above is batter than damage, than I agree with you 110% and say:

Some people will never understand.

I also have to partially agree with you here.

Really? why not, if it wasn't brought to our attention then, its no longer news?

Nothing here is confirmed, but it gives us a better insight into exactly Kaz is prioritizing these things. It's good to see that day/night and weather is something they are 'working hard' on.

Why is the above so thrilling in real life, because one mistake in difficult conditions will see your car wrecked. If you just bounced off the barriers were would the thrill and tension be? :)

PS, how come all of this GT5 news comes from strange sources that need to be searched out by fans of the series?

I would hope by E3 we not only see GT5, but KY sits down with someone like IGN or this website (considering it's huge number of members) and actually gives a detailed interview, I don't think that's too much to ask for.

bare in mind this news could have been really delayed because of the Embargo although the dating is old its release may not be!

I do not think some actual screen shots of other cars and tracks is a lot to ask for but then again... it hasn't happened yet. Whatever we will get something at E3 and that is all I need.

sure, the tension would be there, but to be honest in constant day light, it will be just like any other game, but i have to admit, the night & rain, to me is a lot more interesting

As long as the tracks at night are representative of their real life counterparts and the lights actually project onto the surrounding world, I'm fine.

You guys are glossing over the fact that, if the weather has an impact, then the Tyre physics must be extremley improved. due to GT5P we haven't seen how the Tyre temp system works so hopefully it's going to be done well and well enough to see the weather have an effect rather than just reduce grip percentage

Dear God, just NOT IGN, their records in total incopetence regarding eveything GT is beyond scaring - it's plain dreadfull.

If I were PD, I'd use thir official PS3 US and incoming EU blogs and share everything through that channels with strong monitorig of PR managers.

IGN and Gran Turismo are a big no.

Actually it was. Good few months ago there was a breaking news about KY confirming damage and weather and this is it. Also few months ago while there was racing at Nurburgring PD showed the track on GT5P engine. The Audi footage is from similar time. So what exactly is new about it?

I just want to see someone spending 1 million credits on a large, powerful supercar, take it out onto a wet track, and wreck it on the first corner, then have to spend another hour or two acquiring enough credits to have their car repaired. :sly:

It would change the whole dynamic of the game.
