I'm trying to win this B-Spec race, the Historical Racing Car Cup on Expert, with a NON-multi-million dollar car. That means I don't want to use any of the crazy expensive cars like the Toyota 7, either of the Chaparrals, the Jaguar XJ13, or the Ferrari 330, none of those or the like. I want to beat this using a more regular (and less expensive) car.
I've tried using several different cars, like: the '70 Dodge Challenger R/T (race-modified), the '71 Plymouth Cuda 440, the '70 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454, the '74 Lamborghini Countach LP400 (car I successfully won it on a-spec with), even a '66 AC Cars 427 S/C. All of these cars have been upgraded to their maximum, I'm using racing medium tires, and I've tuned the cars to the best of my ability. I'm also performing an oil change prior to each race.
The closest I've managed is second place, and that was using the Challenger. We lost to the Toyota 7, of course. The Challenger is the only one that can hold its own; the other cars just can't get it done. The Cuda and the Chevelle are just too darn big and heavy, the AC Cars 427 comes close, but still the Challenger is the closest to winning. We CAN actually manage to pass the Toyota 7 with the Challenger and sit in first place, but only temporarily; once we hit the long final straightaway, that Toyota 7 passes us in the blink of an eye. I believe I remember reading that somebody else actually managed a win using the Challenger. yes/no?
I'd be interested in hearing some advice on perhaps other cars to try, or tuning specs on some suggested cars, etc. But as I said, I'd really like to finish first on this b-spec race in a NON-multi-million dollar car; not so much for money reasons, but just because I want to be unconventional. Ideas? Thanks in advance!
