I know the goal here is dark and gritty, but this much change is ridiculous.
This is Zack Snyder that we're talking about - the guy who billed Sucker Punch as "a thinking-man's Inception", reduced Watchmen to a summer blockbuster superhero film, and had Superman responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of people in Man of Steel.

*splutter*... when did they legally redefine the meaning of the word "think"?

I mean, I enjoyed... parts... of "Sucker Punch", but it felt like the well-written premise of an interesting goth-horror-mystery-noir movie dumbed down to an Eighth Grade reading level and wrapped around two hours of numbingly mindless eye-candy.

I actually enjoyed Watchmen. Dour grindfest that it was.

I'm still rooting for Lex Luthor to win. Especially after that trailer. He's like the only colorful ray of sunshine in the whole thing.

Oh, and not really having any problems with Batfleck, so far. Will reserve full jdgment until after the movie, but I think he might be able to pull it off.

I think this puts a big exclamation point on the problem with the tone in these films. Why does the non-powered bad guy seem to be the only happy person?

Batman effect?
Batman: My parents were killed and now I'm a dark hero seeking to stop the disease that took them from me, all while sulking about.

Batman villain: Hee Hee hee. Ha ha ha. Riddle me this and then it is time for a joke! Tee Hee Hee.

Iron Man: I developed this energy source to keep shrapnel out of my heart, but then realized it could be soooo much cooler than that. Seriously, check this suit out. How awesome is this? I'M FLYING!!! That shrapnel is the greatest thing that could ever happen to me. Oh, and Im Tony Stark, so credit where credit is due, ladies.

Iron Man villain: Grumble, grumble, grumble. The darkness of the world will rise up to stop the likes of Iron Man. Tony Stark is a douche bag and I love death. I shall kill to appease my love. I hate the world and want to rule it so I can destroy it.

I'm curious about how Flash will play out in the films. He's always been the comic relief of the JLA.

...This meme nearly killed me.

...Uh, don't wanna double post but - ahh what the heck.

EW is running yet another interesting article, this time for BVS.
It's a short one, but importantly it's got this image.

Behold The Batcave, ladies and gents:

New Suicide Squad trailer
Kind of refereshing after Man of Steel and the trailers for Dawn of Justice - it's clearly not taking itself too seriously. It knows that it's a comic book movie, it knows that aliens and magic and weird science are preposterous, and it knows that it can't keep a straight face if it tries to take them seriously.

...There's lot more Joker in it than I expected. And Leto looks like a good choice too, judging by the footage.

As for the villain, did I just spot a bunch of tentacles in the subway scene? Hmm.

Anyway, have some Wonder Woman footage too while we're at it.

Will Smith said that because Leto was in character for the duration of filming, he never actually met Leto.

...Kinda like Sacha Baron Cohen and his various personas. I hear he's the same too, in character all the time.

Can't tell which is worse - as a wife, spent a time with a husband who has transformed into a homicidal maniac, or a faux reporter from Kazhakstan...

Leto said that he spent a lot of time alone to prepare for the role. Heath Ledger did the sane thing for The Dark Knight.

or a faux reporter from Kazhakstan...
Isla Fisher is busy harassing the production crew of ING Direct ads while playing an extremely ditzy version of herself, so I'd say that Sasha Baron Cohen has it as bad as she does.

Didn't they say the same about Ledger? and there are videos of him as the joker speaking to crew members, I mean they'll be in character alot of the time but all day every day? c'mon Will

That's the only one I believe.

Obviously you haven't read about his method acting on the set of My Left Foot. Or Lincoln. He stays in character during all of his movie shoots, actually. He's rather notorious for it.

Christopher Nolan gave one of the best tributes after Ledger's death (unlike, say, John Travolta, who made his tribute all about himself), recounting the day this guy showed up on-set and was talking with the crew. It took Nolan a while to realise that it was Ledger, who had come in on his day off to watch filming because he was interested in the process of film-making (the Joker's threatening messages were all directed by Ledger).

Meant the only one, it's known as going full Daniel day lewis when someone attempts this :D

Oh I'm not trying to take anything away from Ledger, and I'm sure he was in character a lot of the time, but I'm not buying him being in character all of the time (same with Leto). Baring in mind as well how many scenes that actually feature Will and Leto.

Could be true of course, I'm sold on his interpetation of the joker and can't see how it plays out in the DC universe.

Does anybody have a really good feeling about Jesse Eisenberg?

I think he will steal the show

I know people are ragging on him playing a nerd-trepreneur, just like in the Social Network (personally, I don't see any similarities between the characters), but he is probably the one reason I might see this movie in the theaters.

Oh hell, if the reviews are even halfway good, I might just see it, anyway.
