Picked up the Peugeot gr3, but I haven't tried it yet. The Supra GT500 is pretty iconic and amazing to drive. The WRX gr3 seems to outperform it on nurgergring, making it my top choice for the wtc800 5 race final series. Will give me the best chance to get 1st on all 5 on hard difficulty.

I have gr. 3 cars:
Mazda Stealth model
Vette c7
Supra
M6 endurance model
McLaren
In manufacturer races tested:WRX and Lancer Evo
For me :Best over all of them is-Evo and McLaren (Mazda is the fastest, but not cornerning well)!
We have much more cars to be tested fellas.!

The RCZ seems to be quite better than any Gr.3 car so far for whatever reason.

Even worse is the Gr.4 Atenza which absolutely demolishes everything in that group.

This game is a far cry from GT Sport's BoP. At least in there you had different meta cars for different tracks. Now? Only Gr.3 RCZ and Gr.4 ATENZA ftw...

Only hope for Gr.3 as it is right now is when the McLaren F1 Kokusai Kaihatsu is available in the LCD for players to buy, it's so far the only Gr.3 car that no one has and could potentially rival the Peugeot (or even worse, become the meta car even worse than the RCZ).

So now that we have to watch every penny that we spend after the credit nerf, I don't have the luxury of buying cars just to try them. I've been sort of struggling with the Gr.3 races. The computer opponents just seem to be accelerating much, much faster out of the corners. Are they using nitrous? So I'm looking at some better cars. In your opinion, what are the best Gr.3 car(s) to get to help with those 730pp races?
I tried the WRX, but it didn't seem to cut it. The Corvette C7 got me my first win at 728.16 PP. My love though is the McLaren 650S. I've used it for all the World Touring Car 800s so far with the added medium turbo.

So
  • -RCZ = overly good, needs to be toned down, has far too much grip AND speed
  • -M6 = very smooth car with no exaggerated strengths and weaknesses (a bit much torque, so be careful when exiting corners)
  • -Aston Martin = outstanding brakes (for my feeling) a little bit of torque, especially at higher speeds, but nice and even torque thanks to the naturally aspirated engine
  • -Viper + SLS = lots of power and impressive longitudinal dynamics, seems to have a bit more problems on the brakes, tracktion is difficult to maintain on corner exit, a little more gas is often already too much
  • -Mustang = surprisingly good handling, I didn't expect that and felt a little more power than the M6
  • -911 = less power than the M6, but a bomb in the corners and exiting corners if you get the ride right.
  • -Mazda = quite fast, but too sensitive for my taste on difficult tracks, I like him eg. not at all on the Norschleife
  • -Supra Racing Concept 2018 = (compared to GTS) somehow not fish and not meat, I never have the feeling that it is equal to or even superior to the M6
  • -Toyota Supra GT500 = Very exceptional handling, very different from any other Gr.3 I have driven before. Corner entry feels sluggish, although it's not and the exit traction is superb for an FR. Then there is the feeling of not having enough power and 1 second later it picks up again and sucks itself up to almost all other vehicles. I would call it phenomenal elasticity. It feels like there should be a 6-7-8 liter naturally aspirated engine, but it's only a 2 liter turbo and you can't hear it, but somehow you don't feel it. I like this car, especially because of the sound.

These are my impressions

The McLaren is a sleeper seriously ... SO much better than the GT Sport version.

It feels competitive on all the tracks I've tried and I had plenty of solid battles to come top 5 against the RCZ meta on Interlagos / Brands Hatch recent daily races.

They will nerf the RCZ within a few months.

I won an Online Daily Race in the Corvette C7 GR3 car on Interlagos the other weekend - didnt see anyone else running it. Was consistently getting top 4 with it. Found the gear ratios and handling perfect!

Then I tried it in a MP lobby with friends, and it was a mess to drive.

How is that possible?

Dayli Race with BoP

own Lobby maybe not ?

If you Drive without BoP you have much more Power on the most Car´s.

Doing the nations cup and the ENTIRE field is GT-R. That's it. In a mode that allows any road car to be tuned everyone is driving the exact same car.

For an all-around car, it's the Lancer. I always did well in GT Sport with it; it's nimble and powerful. I think it's becoming my favourite in GT7.

RCZ is another fave.

The dominance of the 4wd is already annoying. They need to balance this **** yesterday.

YEAH, GT-R Baby! It will always be a competitive car!!! Today i get one 1rst and one second place with GT-R NISMO. Cheers!!!

After driving almost every Gr.3 car, the RCZ is still my favourite, as it was in GT Sport.

It's a bit OP in BoP, but it feels the most balanced in terms of stability/handling.

I know it may be weird but I have the beetle and it does super well for me! Fully tuned I have it at 789hp @8500 rpm with 550 ft-b @6500 rpm with a weight of 2646lbs

For the PP 700+, I run the McLaren 650S. Haven't lost in those events yet. For below PP 700, I use the BMW M6 Endurance. I got the BMW Z4 last night and am loving it on the below PP 700...specifically the Le Mans World Touring Car 700. A 30 minute race to earn $550k+.

I only have 5 gr3 cars and have only driven them with BoP...

Merc amg gt 2016
Genesis X
Mustang
Viper
Toyota ft1

The merc feels pretty good, good balance but seems to die after 140mph..

The genesis feels pretty planted and has awesome top end, but the power/torque/boost is delivered all at once, so traction is insanely tricky..

Mustang is a decent choice, but I find the handling a little odd, the balance feels like a mid engined car, ie the front end feels too light..

The viper has good top end, but I find the front end feels too good, like it has too much aero at the front and not enough rear..

The ft1 feels the best out of the lot handling wise, awesome balance, and really lean on the car, not much torque though, so really have to rely on carrying as much speed through corners to not get jumped my big hp power/torque cars out of corners.

One more thing, The rcz needs nerfing, and asap... is one thing I've noticed. Its ridiculous

Do you play with controller or steering wheel? I can't control this car with steering wheel. I quickly lose the rear.

What's the secret to driving it?
I play with controller using x for accel and have difficulty controlling the car as well. I haven't tried any of the gt40s or the aston martin yet but most other gr. 3's I've tried and the R8 is in another league in my opinion.

You could try lowering the ride height when you can and maybe reducing the lsd accel settings. That may help.

Cheers

Audi R8 LMS Evo GT3 2019:

I use a controller @700pp, have not tried higher pp. Medium Racing tires. Added ballast +190kg = 3142lbs and -35 ballast positioning = 48:52 weight distribution. 454hp (79/100 ecu) brake balance -5, downforce 430/600 and Stock trans! Hope that helps!

Where do i find the 30 minute race or am i just blind?
The Le Mans course has an 8 lap race that pays out huge. It's 30 minutes. It's a 700 PP race and I've won it with every Gr3 I've run.
RCZ
Mustang
WRX
Z4
M6 Endurance
GTR Nismo
650S
C7
Evo Final

Haven't tried Gr4 or road cars yet. Just make sure to have W/IM tires. Says max is $550k, but with clean bonus, it's over $800k.

Don't have all the Gr3 cars yet, but if I had to pick one it's still the Jag.

The Evo and Vette are also very good, IMO.

But, if I want to be a little more out there, I love the Ford GT Spec II. Very fun and very fast on the straights; it's also a stick shift (after installing it from the shop)!

...there is a reason, this is a GT500 car... older yes, but still GT500 car :)

All other Gr3 cars (except Castrol Supra and Penzoil Nismo) are in fact GT300 cars...

But I don't think these vehicles would still get a GT500 classification today.
And even if, in the game, the TOM's is no better but also no worse than the GR3 vehicles, I think the car can be classified in the upper third.

Subaru WRX is very strong imo.
Genesis is my favourite handling though out of all the ones I've tested so far:
