Biggest "I'm an idiot" thing you've done in GT5

I really like not knowing what the prize cars are, so everynow and then it's a cool surprise when you get something decent, for example Mazda Furai on B spec..

I had a fair bit of cash and saw, for the first time, the Audi R8 LMS (gt3 R8) appeared in used car dealership.

''........that looks a bad boy...'' I thought, I'll have that...I was chuffed..

Few hours later, I saw a R35gtr Le Mans car in the used car dealership for the first time...

''.......oh yes, another bad boy for my collection...''.... feeling pretty pleased with myself I went to bed..

Next day, all refreshed and feeling fine I decided to further my quest on the endurance races.

Did the Nurburgring 4hr race - won an Audi R8 LMS....GUTTED

Next day, another endurance race - won the R35gtr Le Mans car.... DOUBLE GUTTED

6 million wasted...

IDIOT :ill:

 Brilliant.

got an oil change on a seasonal event (FC-3S) after spending all the $ tuning it

Ahhh I just did this with a Skyline. I was wondering where the hell did they get these off the wall numbers from, but I guess its to make it harder for people to be right at the limit.

Forgot to mention..

I was doing the Nurburgring 4hr race in the R34 Falken tyres racecar.

After about 1 1/4hrs I was really getting into it, I had slowly built up a lead of about one minute 20 seconds on the Audi R8 LMS car in second place..

''......cool, I'm a full pit stop ahead of him, I can relax now..'''

At the end of the Nurburgring lap, just after the second carousel, I was going round the the long right hand bend before the main back straight and my car literally died...it just lost all power..

''.......what the ****......''

I tried changing gears, flicking between views, my tyres seemed OK, everything, my car just rolled along at 40mph. I was totally perplexed..

I then realised that I had run out of petrol......

IDIOT x2 :ill:

spending a LOT of money and time on my 458 and GTR trying to win the supercar challenge with Bob...having a ZR1 RM-.-
oohh and rebuilding a Caterham Fireblade engine no difference at all

So far, for me, it's not equipping rain tires on whatever race it is that's near the end of the Expert level (B-spec) on the 'Ring. Had to watch Bob limp along an entire lap with the pit icon lit.

Left the B-spec endurance race at Suzuka running when I went to bed last night. I happened to get up at 3 in the morning and figured I might as well check on it - still 20 laps left (out of 172). Wanted to turn off the TV and stereo receiver, but being about 90% asleep, I just hit "all off" on the remote. Which includes the PS3.

Oh well.

Well mine was a "I'm an idoit" but in the sense of "why didn't I think of this earlier?" I was on Trial Mountain with my Furai and I launched the thing off this bump and it spun and flipped for at least 100 yards. :sly:

I was doing the Polyphony Digital Cup in my SLS-AMG. Before the Trail Mountain race, I decided it would be good to put on S2's. Terrible mistake. :dunce: I spun out in a corner multiple times, but the dumbest thing happened on the last lap. I was using cockpit view even though I'm used to the hood view, and on the long straight, I kept looking back to make sure the Ford GT behind me wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, this lead to me braking too late in the turn at the end of the straight, and spun out. :scared: I only fell back to third, about 2 seconds behind the GT, and I knew I could make it up. I drove crazy in the following little section of turns, and passed second place in the last 90* turn, and I cut the chicane to get in front of the GT. Right when I thought I did everything perfectly, I get insane airtime on the little mound of dirt to the right of the chicane. I end up flipping onto my roof, but the GT hadn't passed! :scared: Right as I was going to cross the finish line for my first victory upside-down, the GT goes by and I lose by .026 seconds. :ouch:

Quitting the FGT championship in A-spec since I kinda lost my chances during the Suzuka race. I thought to be smart by just quitting the game (since it (sometimes) autosaves in between of championship races) so I was hoping I could continue the championship by just reloading my game, only to find out that I lost my gold medals at Fuji, Monaco and the Nurbrugring... Just threw 2 hours of racing down the drain, wasn't too happy with myself then, hehe...

Just now, being too convinced I could drive 40 laps at the Indy 500 before pitting, ending up in a nice 360 (and beyond) just before the pit intrance, losing much time. Then to make it worse, change to Racing Hard tyres, losing 3-4 secs with respect to Racing softs. After only 28 laps or so I spun in the 2nd corner since my tyres were completely devastated and lost a lot of time again (was just too stubborn, being convinced the racing hards should last longer than the racing softs, despite reading at these forums they wouldn't:P), thereby losing the race and ending up 3 laps behind the leaders. I eventually ended the race at position 4, made me quite happy, only 1 lap behind the leaders. In the last lap the 4th and 5th place drivers pitted, enabling me to pass them in the last lap, hehe.:) Without my mistakes and changing to Racing hard tyres I would have won.

Most stupid thing Ive done on this game... by a mile... is reading that you can get the Ford GT '69 race car from the B-Spec endurance races, and deciding that I would get it done. B-spec is so hatefully boring arrrgggghhhh

Grinded b spec for hours and quitted the game. When i logged in it wasnt saved. And did it another time also. Only lost 1 hour then.

I had 59 golds on the licenses, with only S-10 left. I had it on bronze already and tried the other day again. After some tries I was finally in the lead as I turn into the last straight. In victory I raise both my arms while putting the pedal to the metal. I'm approaching the finish line. The car slowly turns right. The finish line is still approaching. The car hits the left wall ever so slightly before I can regain control of the car. But that slows me down enough to get pasted by the other car, leaving me in second place with the silver trophy.

I just had to laugh!

During the dreamcar championship. I tried to take the last corner on the Nordschleife, only to get an extremely rude reminder that I'm driving the 24hr version:ouch:

The most idiotic thing I've done since owning this game was to lose my temper with the Historic Car race and whacked my G25. The top half of the wheel snapped. :(
Fixed with Gorilla glue. Damn that stuff is STRONG!!!

Spending 200,000 on a 3000GT VR-4 for the LIKE THE WIND races... I basically spent money on a car which doensn't turn and doesn't have downforce.

I just found out that my PS3 sound settings was not in optical output like it should have been. I don't know how it got switched out, maybe a sony update did it? Now with 7.1 surround it is like day and night, the sound is amazing.

Hitting the pit wall entrance on the final lap of the final race of a championship. Literally seconds away from the finish line. By the time I managed to get back on my feet, all the other cars were gone. It was either Madrid or Tokyo. Don't (want to) remember which one it was exactly.

Got gold in all the other races. But ended 12/12 in the final race. Still have not bothered to repeat it.

was on the final straight doing historic Racing cup last race trying to hold off 2 cars, hit downshift as phone rang and dropped into 3rd over the line, controller wont forgive me for what i did to it next

Sorry for your Pain . but that Post had me Howling with laughter

I bought an Audi Race car for 4 million cr. although I'll eventually win it anyways later on...4 mil guys, at least I gifted it here to someone lol.

In the second final corner of Nürburgring, lading second and final lap, I looked at the watch just after seeing that my first lap was 6:45: something - wondering how on earth a NASCAR could do that time on the ring. That's freaking close to the Zonda R real life record around that track!

Of course I had to crash and loose as the timing took all my attention. Not as bad as messing up an endurance race, but still very annoying. :)
