Biggest "I'm an idiot" thing you've done in GT5

I spent 1,000,000 credits to repair the FGT for the FGT event only to find that it handled the same way and made no difference in power :grumpy:

Only idiot thing I've done so far is spending about 100k on improving my yaris for the yaris cup on b spec only to realise I'd already golded that event the day before!! Doh!

Last lap @ Fuji gave it a tiny bit too much power on the first corner and skided wide and let 3 cars through, only to get whacked from behind when i rejoined the track and end up in last place :(

(B-SPEC)Without looking up kept hitting the accelerator pedal in order to tell bob to maintain pace....and was actually on the exit race button. stepped on the pedal twice and lost 10 laps of monza :indiff:

God, never felt so stupid in my life!

The most stupid thing i did was to spend 4.8 million credits on a FGT to realise when i backed up my save file from my broke ps3 to the new one it was gone :( must not have been in the save then :(

19 hours and 10 ot minutes into the 24h Le Sarthe race in my Toyota GT-One, after pausing the race to go to use the restroom, I unknowingly tapped my d-pad to set the curser on "Restart Race". When I returned to continue, not paying attention, I hit X to restart the race... Me and my girl whom were taking turns every few hours at this race were very upset, more so my girl...

Bought and modded a RX-7 for the online races and did an oil change... which made it be more powerful than the minimums!! I had to sell that one and buy a new RX-7...

Accidently pressing Restart Race instead of the Quick Options after driving 3hrs in the 4HR Endurance Race.

Buy many cars from the UCD (Volkswagen beetle '49 and the Lamborghini Countach '74, Susuki GSX-R4 Concept '01 to name a few), to realise I could have just won them. :grumpy: I always check the prize car list on these forums before I buy any car that is even remotley expensive now.

Plowed around 100k into a Chevelle trying to win the muscle car championship only to have the thing still turn like the Titanic in the Panama Canal

Ahahaha!

Mine might be buying a car and putting around 100,000cr. worth of upgrades into before I realized it wasn't even eligible for the race.. The problem is that the car (the name I can't think of right now) has never been useful for any other race and no one has been willing to receive that car in a trade..

Bought a 500,000 credit nascar for the online seasonal event and did an oil change to bring the power output closer to the maximum allowed only to discover it went over the limit. Tried to run the car in through b-spec mode and although never changed oil between races, power output climbed higher up. Ended up buying another nascar and after golding the nurburgring event found out i couldn't sell the extra nascar :irked:

I haven't really done anything idiotic that I can think of but I'll tell you something idiotic PD did...So when I first got the Veyron I was like ok, I'm going to use it on the italian race and totally dominate, nope can't enter my car into the race. Oh right VW bought out Bugatti duh..let's try the German race...what? can't enter my Veyron in this either?? hmmm something must be wrong. Couple weeks days later I realized that you can go into your garage icon and it'll tell you which cars are permitted. I was in the France only race and I didn't know what cars could go in so i checked, well and behold my Veyron is there.....ummm the Veyron ain't french hahahh

I don't get how they could have made such a mistake...??O.o

The original Bugatti (of the 30's) was French - the factory was in North-Eastern France (somewhere in Alsace, I forget where).
Ettore Bugatti himself was Italian - born in Milan - but his cars were French.

Bugatti weren't Italian-based until an Italian bought the name in the late-80's and set up a new factory near Modena. Bugatti ran out of money and were bought by VW in the late-90's and moved production back to Alsace .

Sorry for being such a car-bore!

Bought the '09 Nissan GT-R Spec V for the Seasonal Event Bonus Race 1 (the 5th race, for GT-R's). Car comes stock with 478 HP, and the limit in the race is 493 HP. Did an oil change just to get a few of the missing 15 HP, only to discover that it made the car go to 501 HP. Blasted thing!
Will probably have to do practice runs on le Sarthe (no chicanes) for the next week to get the oil real thick and gunky...

I was doing the final challenge of the Jeff Gordon NASCAR school. For the first five or so times, the field kept running away from me when I entered the banked corners as my speed plummeted below 300km/h (186mph). Then I tried turning off ABS. After 3 attempts where the AI decided to cheat like Robert Mugabe in an election (by tapping me to trigger a DQ or shoving me into the wall), I managed to win.

Knowing, that I won't win Like the Wind/Indy race with a NASCAR, and probably will get shoved off the road, and still entering that race... And getting shoved off the road :(.

did exactly the same thing and this was also before the oil change screw up for nascar/nurburgring i mentioned earlier. have to point out that you do not have a week but only a few days to the 6th january when those first set of seasonal races expire so i suggest adding to your car collection by getting the cheaper '07 nissan gtr - it does the job quite nicely. unless you have no credits then i'd suggest running it at daytona or indy since average speed and revs should be higher than sarthe.

In preparation for the 2nd round of A-Spec online events (Ford Mustang @ Laguna Seca).I seen a Mustang show up in the used car lot, bought it,prepped it,got it to within the guidelines of the event, spent a fair amount of time and money tuning it and getting it dialed in to where I was comfortable with it.

I go to enter the race ..... ooops, cannot participate. It was the wrong year of a Mustang.I had bought, built, prepped an '05 'Stang instead of the required '07 'Stang.

I guess I should have to read the requirements a little bit better. :dopey:  :embarrassed:

I was so happy that Bob clinched the NASCAR title before Daytona that I left the Laguna Seca gear in the car without thinking about it. Bad Crew Chief, BAD

Several times I've paused the game half way through a race, then accidentally moved right on the d-pad and quit the race.

PD WHY DO YOU NOT BELIEVE IN CONFIRMATION PROMPTS!!! :|

ok well there you go, now i feel like an idiot hahah thanks for info though I had no idea 👍

Tuned engine (stage 3) to Nismo Super Legera and other cars. Now those cars are ruined and can be thrown away since that canot be undone and I canot compete in some races or Online when friends playing with stock ones. Oh yes and I changed oil on some new cars, now i cannot enter some races too much HP... stupid.
