Haha..that's the line I use! Anyhow...I still cannot touch your times...I think my best with the spec format is 1:58.xxx? Dear obiwan...please instruct me on your tuning techniques? Lol.

Hey, Enzo has stepped down as the host of this series. Omahasubaru and I have stepped up to keep this thing going. I would like everyone who is still interested to post a qualifying time. We will use the honor system this time as I don't think anyone will be competing for a spot to race. (more than 16 drivers) Race day still stands to be this Saturday. (Jan 15). As the host, I would like to move the start of the race out to 8:30c PM because it is nearly impossible for me to be on much earlier than that. Your submitted qual times will determine grid order, and we will conduct a 1 lap "race" to set that grid order in game before the start of the real race. I would like to start the race no later than 9:00c PM, so please be on time:)

Please post your qual times in this format.

T-Money: 1:52.876

The room number for the race will be posted here about 10 minutes before the race, also if you plan to race with us please send a friend request to one or both of the hosts. (we will msg the room number to all in our friend list as well.)

If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know. Hope to see you all on Saturday!

Thanks for posting that t-money.

I had a good time last night with the few that came out to run. Ranek405 and I found out that after about 12 laps those sport softs really start to get greasy. Whew. Makes me wonder if we should shorten the first race to 15 laps, or mandate a pit perhaps. Should get quite interesting regardless.

A comment was made to better balance out the race lengths in miles and I think that is really something we should do. So I will work w/ t-money to try and better balance out the tracks on the schedule.

Some shots of some action from last night.

Sorry tmoney for not getting any pictures when you were in the lead ;) ;)

...and this shot, just because I think it is cool

I think having a mandatory pit between laps 5 and 15 (drivers choice) would be good. It adds a bit of strategy to the whole thing, and allows for fresh tires. I am going to see if Enzo can update the original post with some small changes.

lets collaborate via email on the revisions and then we can just send a revised post to him. I can provide the whole thing for easy copy/paste updating to limit the impact on his time.

I'll start looking at balancing the race lengths/distances for the series based on the 20 lap opener at monza.

I'm on the fence about mandating a pit for a 20 lap race. If we hadn't battled so hard for the first 5-6 laps, I would have had more tire left. That there is enough strategy in itself for me.

put up a practice room in hopes that I can finally tame this beast. Any help would be appreciated.

One question about damage levels , will we be using max damage? Or the more moderate level? How do you guys feel about it? Personally I like things as realistic as possible.

How come you guys race without rear wing? Just curious, ill send in my qualifier asap.

My $0.02

If the modifications weren't already set or there was more time before the first race, I'd remove the wing upgrade option from the allowed modifications list. ;) I know it helps, but it just ruins the look of these cool vintage bimmers. My fear is that many have tuned for it to be there, so I don't want to upset them. I may have to try it sometime, if I can get past the look. :D :D

As for Race settings... I like damage on light as it makes it more fun for others especially if someone else makes a mistake and punts you hard into the wall, yet doesn't allow for bang up dukes of hazzard-style competition. I like having penalties set on light too. Any one else want to chime in on this subject?

damage is good and bad. Accidents happen, and it takes away from the fun part of this racing. I hate being taken out by someone and also suffering race changing damage. Sure its fun to be realistic and all but this car is already a handfull as it is, and full damage would only make that accidental spin even that much worse when you have to limp around the track to pit and put yourself a lap down.

On another note...I seem to be only able to get 1:58.xxx's online qualifying. is there a chance I could follow someone around and pick up some lines because I seem to be the only one having or voicing any issues at the moment.
Thanks :)

joey,

I'll try and hop online later tonight and grab my setup specs and send them your way. send me a friend invite and if you're on and I have time, I'll try and take you around the course. I am by no means an expert, but can usually pull off a decent line after some practice.

Thanks - Jon

I sure appreciate it. This car is humbling.... I am not a bad driver...usually but this one sure brings out the worst in my abilities.

Don't worry joey ill be bringing up the rear with you!! This car takes lots of practice and delicate touch with the tuning. Agreed the wing looks unnatural , and the old pics don't have wings either.

I'm not sure the wing has all that much effect. I was keeping the same pace as the cars without a wing last night when we were racing. I don't mind the look of the wings, but if the overall feeling is to ban them, I'm fine with that.

If you want to send me your setup, I can give you advice based on it now... otherwise it will have to wait until this evening.

I don't think banning them was my intent it all. I was merely stating my opinion on the matter since it was brought up. I'm going to run w/o a wing and if that holds me back, so be it. I'll still be having a good time driving a sweet vintage bimmer with you guys. :D

What time GMT is the race going to be?

if its 9 US time, thats going to be 2 in the morning for me and going to be half asleep, lol

Hey, anybody want to practice tonight? I will be online at about 9:30c. I will post a room number in here, or join a room if someone starts one before I get online.

UPDATE: I am online, if anybody wants to practice just send me an invite.

OK, wing is gone. It only costs you 100 credits in GT Auto to put the stock wing back on 👍

I'm sticking with my 1'50.454 since I set that without the wing anyways. That will be my official qualifying time, I've got a replay saved that I'll post up later in case anyone wants to watch/follow it.

I'm away from my PS3 all this week so I can't update my qualification time until Saturday the 15th. My previous time was set with tunings that I now believe exceed the rules. I have a brand new untouched 2002 in my garage that I will set up on Saturday. I'll also send out friend requests that day.

Is there an approximate horsepower number for a fresh car with required tuning?

Thanks

with penalties on light does that mean cars turn invisible...ie, no bump drafting?

I think bump drafting should still work, not 100% sure though.

I think that if we're clean enough we really shouldn't need penalties, I'm not a fan of them when trying to race seriously as they can be unfair at times (collision penalty when someone crashes into you, short-cut penalty when you are avoiding spun out/crashed cars in front etc). Still, I can understand why people have them turned on.

Can anyone put that replay in a different format? I want to see it so bad lol and I cant play it on this mac. Anyways anyone gonna be online tonight? I need to run some laps online, I got down to 1:53.5 offline, need to see how it handles online with tire temps, gas, ect.

PS good work on stepping up and taking charge of this league gentleman, great work and thank you for your time and effort.

Just to get things started, here is my qualifying time

T-Money: 1:52.876

Remember, we need to have everyone submit their time by Friday. Please keep it in the above format so it is easy to organize. Thanks!

Here is my time for now... If I get time to try some more, I will submit it again.

1:53.064

You can just run in your own lounge w/o anyone else if you want to feel the online difference. Only thing missing will be the heat of competition and the draft effect. ;)

You are most welcome. tmoney and I hated the idea of it not happening. We hope everyone enjoys it and has fun.

Yeah that's what I did,I found that online ads 1 second or more per lap are qualifying times to the run on or off line ?
