View attachment 88550 deal all, my first post here, im a 5 month-old noob, started playing gt5 back in august this year but im a studious novice - after about 20 laps im on early 2:10 - not bad for an old man:)

gt6 seems wanting to start out easy for first timers so golding the event is very achievable. not boasting anything here but first warm up lap often good enough to get gold. if you competed hard in gt5 tt to get in top 500th you will be like that. after golded, watched top players' replays to study the lap before id waste my precious energy to improve my time:P studied the braking points and how much a corner you are allowed to cut.

corner 1. nearly at the end of straight, pavement colour changes and when you pass that line you start braking hard. what i cant understand is when Amo braked his tail slid nicely for the corner, without any steering input (from what i saw from cockpit view) as if rear slid by itself. i tried setting the brake bias 8/10 but as soon as you enter the event it defaults back to 5/5. hmmm...

corner 4. you can cut quite a bit, but cant go out too wide on exit, no more than a car width.

corner 6. before the corner there are 3 cones on your right, when youre about along side of middle one start braking. downshift slightly earlier than braking seems to bring the tail around nicely. also noticed he didnt braked fully - partially, for both corner 6 & 7.

corner 8. there is a concrete patch on your left comes up before the corner, start braking right on end edge or slightly after.

Schumaker S. beyond me. use all the curves - entry, apex and exit - on 3rd gear hitting rev limiter, ideally. i never managed to pull it off.

corner 11. i usually start braking when i go under the bridge there is a shadow on the road, after about half a sec i crossed over that shadow i start braking.

corner 14. from a distance you can see rubber on the road where it starts to get darker, when i just started to enter that zone i apply brakes. there is actually a horizontal line or some sort right on braking point so when i see it and if i hadnt applied brakes yet then im braking too late.

corner 15 S's. ride over curves little bit, otherwise you'll red lap it. when riding over them the car gets airborne and when it is ease off throttle to avoid wheelspins when tyres land on pavement.

apart from available intake and exhaust upgrades, back ballast weight seems the only option to improve your handling balance to improve your time. i did 60kg at the very back (50/50) to improve by 2 secs. 80kg (49/51) seems to be too much my lap time deteriorated.

lastly, thanks to all you experts for your valuable information otherwise i wouldnt have had improved as much. i wish i knew this site much earlier.

now, i was always, consistenly, without-fail 4 secs slower than the leader on GT5 TT events so by looking at my gap from the leader, i know i wont improve my time any further on this. if i was 20 years younger im pretty sure id be running for your money:)

Yep, good post. I would add that corner #5 can be dangerous as you will red lap it just by looking at the r/h edge of it.

Cargo yesterday; "So I see, in order to be competitive with the rest of the masses, I must turn on SRF. No thanks."

Wow dude, really don't think all that was necessary when all I was doing was just giving my opinion. Once again, chill out and hop off my ass. Since you insist that I use whatever means is available, I think you better go check your friends list leaderboard. :sly: Time for you to stop bragging about being ahead of me there old boy. See what happens when you poke sticks at snakes. :sly:

Well I see Cargo needed SRF to better me, so it was, 'Yes thank you SRF.' ........Was that with fries?

However I refuse to take the credit for you using SRF, as you imply; "Since you insist that I use whatever means is available," on the contrary I was pointing out the absurdity of your stance.

Anyway good to see you have joined the great unwashed. Firing up as I speak, ha ha.

I don't need SRF to better you my friend, I was just using what most everyone else was using. You are giving yourself way to much credit there my friend as I have shown time and time again that I can give you an ass whipping whenever I feel like it. ;) From now on, if you have anymore smartass comments to make that aren't directly related to this thread, please feel free to pm me and I will be more than happy to engage in your conversations there as I know that the others don't care to read your dribble as it pertains to me. Good luck to you.

Too true I'm afraid, as I have acknowledged many times. However if this race only went as far as the r/hander at the bottom of the hill, corner 8, you may not be so cocky as on many occasions the only person on my list in front of me when I reach it is The Bandit. Haven't been able to get in front of you after that corner......yet.

Just out of curiosity Cargo, what was your best 'no SRF' time?

Gotta hand it to you there old boy, you're always looking at the positives but unfortunately for you, you have to make it all the way back to the finish line. Anything less, doesn't mean squat here. As for my "no SRF" time, I don't recall what it was. And just fyi, I'm only being cocky with you because you seem to continue to call me out every chance you get, which I am really getting tired of. Give it a rest already will ya.

Ha ha, earlier; "I don't need SRF to better you my friend, I was just using what most everyone else was using."

However previously you stated you only made bronze before you turned on SRF.

Just keeping you honest old mate. Now about that time?

This car is so freaking bad. If I apply the brakes it spins itself into a 540 any chance during throttle it gets, even while feathering of the throttle. Applying just a bit of throttle during turns to keep it's speed up will push it into understeer at the same rate of an FF. Anyone willing to tell me how to drive this thing on this track other than putting SRF on?

All driving aides are off except TCS and ABS on 1.

I don't think the car is that bad...

I use dfgt wheel set to simulation.(It set to amateur for default, which i noticed when i pondered why GT6 seems to be easyer than GT5)
I had
-TC off
-SRF off
-AS off
-ASM off
-ABS off

Took me and hour and multiple spins and swearing but i was able to do 2:17.705

The car is understeering if you go too fast in to corners, so you have to apply the brakes really gently early on.
It helps if you maintain the car in straight line when braking.
In some corners it helps if you apply brake and throttle at the same time, it kind of tames the beast...
Also you should use 3rd gear early to avoid excessive wheel spin and oversteering.

So with all the basic nonsense slow in fast out, gentle with throttle and brakes.

If i can do it, anyone can...

Like I said, pm me if you are going to continue calling me out. Nobody wants to keep reading this crap dalone.

Stuck at 1:19 seconds... how are you guys upgrading the car??!! I get a default stock car when I enter the race. Theres no car settings option to edit anything :S :S :S

Can you guys advise on the course some more? I managed to score 2:16.157, but am looking into shaving atleast 2 seconds off that. Everything of, ABS on 1, and a buddy of mine managed in the mid 2:14.5xx. This is serious stuff.

Keep at it... you get gold eventually... just take it smooth...
Drive it like you're grandmother is in the back seat with bucket of berries...

You are not suppose to upgrade the car, and if someone does i don't know how or is it even "legal"...

The car you get as a prize can be upgraded, not the one used in the race.

did a 2.08.9xx but i think i can go faster... 8.5xx is possible but making no mistakes is hard here. tried following the first guy's ghost but still 2.6 seconds behind. how is this even possible :P

He uses e brake abit and has 4 wheels off the track at times to gain more speed, nonetheless it's a great time,
0.1 can be gained if you run as wide as possible on last corner almost touching the cones and get on the power really early for 112mph at the finish line for more speed for the next lap, you can brake later than you think in some corners also.
First go got a. 2"07.8 for 40th, geting a 2"06 won't be easy

So the 2:14 and 2:11 times are without the upgrades??

There is no upgrading the car, aside from using assists, as you can only run the event with the car provided by PD when you enter the event. You cannot use the car from the dealership.

Well, down to a 2'09.629 now. Still leaving a lot of time out there in the first sector.

OT, but just went outside to have a smoke and its still snowing here like hell here in Detroit. In just the few minutes I was out there, I looked like the Abominable Snowman when I came back in. We gotta have like 4-5 inches so far, with a forecast of up to 7 inches. Man, I hate Michigan winters.

Here I was, feeling pretty good at myself for getting a 2:17.3xx on the third try. I knew I shouldn't have read this thread :(
DId you have skid recovery force on? I was getting VERY frustrated with my times, never made it pas 2:18:015 lol... then realized everyone had it on... put it on, and got a 2:13 in my first lap after that. And im not that good at the game so im sure you can make the time easily ;)

Seriously, how the hell are people going so quickly? I've been at this for half an hour and only managed a 2:23.961! Racing with a Fanatec GT2 w/ clubsport pedals, no assists except ABS & TCS 1. Any tips asides from drive faster?

Just can't seem to balance the car through corners with the throttle, either huge understeer and slide off or massive oversteer into a spin! Not had this problem with any other car, and can't think what I'm doing wrong!

Maybe I'm just not the driver I thought I was!

Cool ... I put skid recovery on and it solved it :D I was on Skid recover and 1 ABS, all else off... FINALLY :D :D thanks for the help

Skid recovery... I was more frustrated than you were... will do wonders for you ... they really should have had two leaderboards, one for the aids and the other without it ;)

Yep, straight down to a 2:18.548 after switching SRF on. That's horrendous, 5.5 seconds simply from turning that on!

2:07.024. I know there's a 2:06.5 possible, but I keep screwing up. :ouch:

Just watched Amo's lap, he loves that handbrake doesn't he

I'm actually using it more than him! Only I'm doing it wrong!
